Rokers met COPD verschillen echter wel van rokers zonder COPD aangaande enkele factoren die samenhangen met het ondernemen van een stoppoging en het gebruik van hulpmiddelen: nicotine afhankelijkheid, depressieve symptomen, zelfredzaamheid, kennisniveau gezondheidsaspecten en effectiviteit hulpmiddelen 7
