Als je een onderdeel van een opgave niet kunt maken, ga dan toch door met de volgende onderdelen. Je mag daarbij de in eerdere onderdelen verschafte informatie gebruiken. De (grafische) rekenmachine mag gebruikt worden bij het tentamen. De rekenmachine kan gebruikt worden om numerieke berekeningen uit te voeren. De rekenmachine kan echter NIET gebruikt worden om argumenten te geven voor verkregen oplossingen. Opgave 1 In Probabilia rijden auto s rond waarvan de kentekenplaten uit twee letters bestaan, gevolgd door een viercijferig getal, zoals DQ5803 of RL0652. a) Hoeveel kentekenplaten zijn er mogelijk als letters en cijfers herhaald voor mogen komen? b) Hoeveel kentekenplaten zijn er mogelijk als letters herhaald voor mogen komen, maar cijfers niet? c) Hoeveel van de bij b) genoemde kentekenplaten hebben een viercijferig getal dat groter dan 5500 is? Opgave 2 We gooien met twee eerlijke dobbelstenen, een rode en een blauwe dobbelsteen. Laat X het aantal ogen op de rode dobbelsteen zijn en Y het aantal ogen op de blauwe dobbelsteen. Verder, laat Z = X Y. a) Bepaal de kansdichtheidsfunctie (pdf) van Z. b) Bepaal E(Z) en σ Z. c) Zijn X en Z onafhankelijk, i.e. zijn de gebeurtenissen X = j en Z = k onafhankelijk voor elke j en k? 1 Cijferbepaling: Puntentelling tentamen: opgave 1: 7 ptn; opgave 2: 7 ptn; opgave 3: 6 ptn; opgave 4: 7 ptn; opgave 5: 7 ptn; opgave 6: 6 ptn. Het cijfer voor het tentamen is de som van de punten gedeeld door 4. De toets telt voor 20% mee.

Laat Y = 2 + X. a) Bepaal de kansdichtheidsfunctie (pdf) en de cumulatieve verdelingsfunctie (cdf) van Y. b) Bereken E(Y ) en Var(Y ). Opgave 4 Toevalsvariabele X is exponentieel verdeeld met parameter θ > 0. a) Geef de kansdichtheidsfunctie (pdf) en de cumulatieve verdelingsfunctie (cdf) van X. b) Laat Y = 3X. Laat zien dat Y ook exponentieel verdeeld is en bepaal de bijbehorende parameter van de exponentiële verdeling. Opgave 5 (Voor deze opgave heb je de tabel nodig die aan het einde van het tentamen is toegevoegd.) De firma Sukero produceert pakken suiker. Het gewicht X van een geproduceerd pak suiker is normaal verdeeld met verwachting µ = 00 (gram) en variantie σ 2 = 0. a) Bereken P[X > 970]. b) Sukero hanteert een ondergrens van a gram (a < 00) als kwaliteitseis. Dit wil zeggen dat als een geproduceerd pak minder dan a gram suiker bevat, dan wordt dit pak afgekeurd en vernietigd. Welke a wordt gehanteerd als precies 95% van de pakken suiker wordt goedgekeurd? En welke a als dit percentage 90% bedraagt? Opgave 6 Toevalsvariabele X heeft een Poissonverdeling met parameter λ > 0. a) Laat zien dat de moment genererende functie M X gegeven wordt door M X (t) = e λ(et 1) voor elke t IR. b) Gebruik a) om te laten zien dat E(X) = Var(X) = λ.

If you can t solve an item of some exercise, continue with the next items. It is allowed to use the information that you have obtained before. The graphical calculator can be used during the midterm. However, the graphical calculator can be used only for numerical calculations. It can NOT be used to provide arguments for the solutions obtained. Exercise 1 In Probabilia the cars have license plate numbers consisting of two letters followed by a four-digit number, like DQ5803 or RL0652. a) How many different plates are possible if letters and digits can be repeated? b) How many different plates are possible if letters can be repeated but digits cannot? c) How many of the plates in b) have a four-digit number that is greater than 5500? Exercise 2 Consider a roll with two unbiased dies, a red die and a blue die. Let X be the number of dots on the red die and Y the number of dots on the blue die. Furthermore, let Z = X Y. a) Determine the probability density function (pdf) of Z. b) Determine E(Z) and σ Z. c) Are X and Z independent, i.e. are events X = j and Z = k independent for every j and k? 2 Grading: Grading exam: exercise 1: 7 pts; exercise 2: 7 pts; exercise 3: 6 pts; exercise 4: 7 pts; exercise 5: 7 pts; exercise 6: 6 pts. The grade for the exam is the sum of the points scored, divided by 4. The result for the midterm counts for 20%.

Show that Y is exponentially distributed as well and determine the corresponding parameter of this exponential distribution. Exercise 5 (For this exercise you will need the table that has been attached to the end of this exam.) The company Sukero produces bags of sugar. The weight X of a produced bag of sugar is normally distributed with expectation µ = 00 (grammes) and variance σ 2 = 0. a) Calculate P[X > 970]. b) Sukero uses a lower bound of a grammes (a < 00) as quality requirement. That is, if a produced bag of sugar contains less than a grammes of sugar, this bag is disapproved and destroyed. Which a is used if precisely 95% of the bags of sugar is approved? And which a if this percentage is 90%?
