Geschiedenis van het programma Marco Polo II is de opvolger van Marco Polo I, met een bredere opzet en bereik Duur: 2007-2013 Budget: 450 miljoen => meer dan 4x het budget van MP I! Beperkte mogelijkheid tot financiering van operationele infrastructuur Indien gerelateerd aan de service Afhankelijk van soort project Groter geografisch gebied (27 EU lidstaten + Noorwegen/IJsland/Liechtenstein/Kroatië) 2 nieuwe actietypes: Motorways of the Sea Traffic Avoidance 2
Overzicht van het programma Doelstelling: shifting freight off the road Wegvervoer wordt geschat met 20.5 miljard tkm/jaar te groeien in de EU-25 voor de periode 2007/2013 Targets: Projecten gestuurd door de markt Internationaal goederen vervoer in de EU (m.u.v. luchtvervoer) Alleen transport diensten: geen onderzoek, studies of (kern) infrastructuur Criteria: Commerciële ondernemingen (zowel publiek als privé) EU-27 lidstaten + IJsland, Noorwegen, Liechtenstein en Kroatië Europese dimensie van de acties 3

Group Actie: Motorways of the Sea actie call 2007, EU subsidie: 6.800.000 Modal shift doel: 4.856.423.820 tkm Omschrijving: Het project omvat een nieuwe reguliere RoRo ferry service tussen België (Zeebrugge) en Noord-Spanje (Bilbao). De dienst is gericht op onbegeleide trailers met een bijna dagelijkse frequentie door 4 schepen. 18

Actie: Modal shift actie actie call 2008, EU subsidie: 2.041.251 Modal shift doel: 1.022.673.803 tkm Omschrijving: Upgrading van een lijndienst die de car terminals in Koper (Slovenië) en Barcelona (Spanje) verbindt. De nieuwe dienst is gericht op de auto-industrie en heeft een frequentie van 3 keer per maand. 19
