FQF (VKS): Main features VKS consistent with EQF Qualifications are ranked into 8 levels on the basis of the respective level descriptors Each qualification is described on the basis of the underlying competences (knowledge, skills and attitudes + autonomy, context en responsibility) Difference between professional qualifications and educational qualifications Qualifications are validated by the Flemish Government
Why do we need a Flemish Qualifications Framework? Vocational Education and Training: need for vocational learning outcomes Life Long Learning: need for alignment between various vocational education and training providers (Adult Education, Higher Education, Training providers outside Education) Recognition of Prior Learning: need for a univocal reference framework European developments

Difference between Educational qualifications VKS: Policy options with which further studies in secondary or higher education can be undertaken or a profession can be exercised (in case the educational qualification contains a professional qualification) are only acquired through education Professional qualifications: with which a profession can be exercised Educational and professional qualifications can be found at level 1 8
