1 FOR DUTCH STUDENTS! ENGLISH VERSION NEXT PAGE Toets Inleiding Kansrekening 1 22 februari 2013 Voeg aan het antwoord van een opgave altijd het bewijs, de berekening of de argumentatie toe. Als je een onderdeel van een opgave niet kunt maken, ga dan toch door met de volgende onderdelen. Je mag daarbij de in eerdere onderdelen verschafte informatie gebruiken. De (grafische) rekenmachine mag gebruikt worden bij het tentamen. De rekenmachine kan gebruikt worden om numerieke berekeningen uit te voeren. De rekenmachine kan echter NIET gebruikt worden om argumenten te geven voor verkregen oplossingen. Opgave 1 Laat A, B en C drie willekeurige onafhankelijke gebeurtenissen zijn. Laat zien dat A B en C ook onafhankelijk zijn. Geef bij de afleiding duidelijk aan welke eigenschappen van de (kans)functie P je gebruikt! Opgave 2 In het huidige wielerpeloton gebruikt 10% van de renners doping. Wanneer een dopingtest wordt uitgevoerd bij een wielrenner die doping gebruikt dan wordt in 90% van de gevallen positief getest, bij een renner die geen doping gebruikt gebeurt dat in 1% van de gevallen. a) Bereken de kans dat een willekeurige geselecteerde renner een positieve test aflevert. b) In het geval dat een renner een positieve test aflevert, wat is dan de kans dat hij daadwerkelijk doping heeft gebruikt? c) Bereken de kans dat een renner die geen doping gebruikt bij tien achtereenvolgende (onafhankelijk uitgevoerde) dopingtesten, minstens één keer positief wordt bevonden. 2 Opgave 3 In een doos zitten 3 zwarte, 4 rode en 5 groene ballen. Op volstrekt willekeurige wijze worden er 3 ballen uit de doos gepakt. a) Bereken de kans op 2 rode en 1 groene bal als de ballen zonder teruglegging gepakt worden. b) Bereken de kans op 2 rode en 1 groene bal als de ballen met teruglegging gepakt worden. c) Laat X het aantal rode ballen zijn dat gepakt wordt (dit keer weer zonder teruglegging). Bepaal de kansdichtheidsfunctie (pdf) van X. Opgave 4 Van een stochast X is gegeven dat deze alleen de waarden 1, 2, 3 en 4 aanneemt. Bovendien is van zijn cumulatieve verdelingsfunctie (cdf) F gegeven dat F(x) = 1 16 x2 voor elke x {1,2,3,4}. a) Schets de grafiek van F. b) Bepaal de verwachting van X.

If you can t solve an item of some exercise, continue with the next items. It is allowed to use the information that you have obtained before. The graphical calculator can be used during the midterm. However, the graphical calculator can be used only for numerical calculations. It can NOT be used to provide arguments for the solutions obtained. Exercise 1 Let A, B and C be three independent events. Show that A B and C are independent as well. Indicate clearly in the proof which properties of the (probability) function P you use! Exercise 2 Suppose that 10% of the professional cyclists uses drugs. A drug test, carried out for a cyclist that actually uses drugs, produces in 90% of the cases a positive result. For a cyclist that does not use drugs such a test produces in 1% of the cases a positive result. a) Determine the probability that an arbitrarily selected cyclist produces a positive drug test. b) In case a cyclist produces a positive drug test, what is the probability that the cyclist actually uses drugs? c) Determine the probability that a cyclist, who does not use drugs, produces at least one positive test in a sequence of ten (independently carried out) drug tests. In an arbitrary way three balls are taken from the box. a) Determine the probability of getting 2 red and 1 green ball, if the balls are taken without replacement. b) Determine the probability of getting 2 red and 1 green ball, if the balls are taken with replacement. c) Let X be the number of red balls taken from the box (this time without replacement). Determine the probability density function (pdf) of X. Exercise 4 Random variable X takes values 1, 2, 3 and 4 only. Moreover, for its cumulative distribution function (cdf) F we know that F(x) = 1 16 x2 for every x {1,2,3,4}. a) Sketch the graph of F. b) Determine the expectation of X.
