6 Legpatroon voor Q-sort Meest van toepassing Minst van toepassing The Q-sort procedure You are presented with a stack of 32 cards each containing a statement about the function of theatre/art. We ask you to distribute these cards in 11 categories arranged from left to right in such a way that the category on the far left is most characteristic of your company and the one on the far right is least characteristic of your company (according to your own insight) see the grid in which you can place the cards. (Note that placement on the far right does not mean that your company hasn t that function, only that you deem it to be less characteristic than the other ones.) Although you may proceed in any way you find most comfortable, many people find it easiest to proceed as follows: 1. Sort the cards into three piles. Place statements that seem characteristic of your company on the left, those that seem uncharacteristic on the right, and all others in the middle. At this point there is no need to pay attention to how many go into each pile, but since quite a lot of the statements will eventually go into the middle three categories, you can feel fairly free about putting those about which you are uncertain into the middle pile. 2. Next, sort the left-hand pile (the characteristic group) into the low numbered categories, placing the most characteristic statement into Category 1, the next two most characteristic statements into Category 2, and so forth until you have used up all the cards. In this step, you should pay attention to the actual number of cards required in each category. (Note: the order of the cards within a category in unimportant.) 3. Now sort the right-hand pile into the high numbered categories, placing the most uncharacteristic statement in Category 11. Follow the same procedure used in step two. 4. Now sort the middle pile into the middle categories, making any adjustments needed with the cards already sorted into adjacent categories. 5. Check to make sure you have the correct number of cards in each category and make any final adjustments you wish. 6. Ask the interviewer to make a picture of the sorted cards. We would like you to do the q-sort again, but now arrange the statements in an order that reflects how you think society (your audience, the people in the street ) perceives your company. On the left the functions that you think people attribute to your company most, on the right the statements that you think are the least associated with your company.
