In this Service Information we will inform you about new functions and issues that must be taken into account when performing periodic inspections. 1. New front panel design One button operation (card ejection / activities) New button design Continental Automotive GmbH Heinrich-Hertz-Straße 45 D-78052 Villingen-Schwenningen VDO A Trademark of the Continental Corporation
Page 2 For driver 1 and driver 2 one button is used to switch time groups and for card ejection. - Briefly press button once = switching time groups - Press button longer = ejecting card The design of some menu buttons has changed. The button to open the printer drawer also has a new design. VOLVO and Renault will maintain the known front panel design. This means that the DTCO Rel. 2.2 will also be available with the traditional front panel. 2. Modified security concept for the DTCO Rel. 2.2 housing (sealing foil) From release 2.2. the DTCO housing will be protected by two sealing foils, in addition to the factory seal. The new housing has specific elements for fixing the sealing foils. The sealing foil serial numbers are also printed on the Technical Data printout (readonly, printout only).
Page 3 The sealing foils also feature the DTCO serial number. Last 3 figures of the sealing foil number 1: DTCO serial number 2: Seal number In compliance with security regulations (ITSEC), the DTCO seals must be checked prior to installation and during an inspection. This check also includes the sealing foils to ensure that they are intact. If during an inspection the approved workshop finds out that the housing seal is damaged, the DTCO 1381 functions no longer comply with legal requirements. The DTCO in question must be removed and replaced and cannot be installed again. Seal OK Seal damaged Do not install the DTCO/ replace the DTCO
Page 4 3. New calibration reason (6) The DTCO 1381 Rel. 2.2 automatically creates a new calibration reason (6) when setting the IMS function to "IMS-OFF" (disabling the IMS function). This calibration reason (6) is not prescribed by law (purpose of calibration). The calibration reason 6 is a device-specific reason (from DTCO 1381 R2.2)! It provides a record of which workshop has set the IMS function to "IMS-OFF" (disabled the IMS function) and includes the workshop number and the date. With calibration reason 6 the legally prescribed calibration data (VIN/VRN/w/k/l/tyre size/v-max/odometer reading) available at the time the IMS function was set to "IMS- OFF" will be saved and printed. A calibration reason (6) can be created at any time, regardless of whether or not the recording equipment is activated. The calibration reason (6) is created each time the IMS function is disabled! If the IMS function is disabled before activation of the DTCO 1381, the calibration reason (6) is documented together with the data of the workshop card with which DTCO 1381 activation took place. The calibration reason (6) will not be created again when the IMS function is set to "IMS-ON" (enabling the IMS function again).
Page 5 4. Creating the Technical Data printout after "calibration" If after a periodic inspection (calibration reason (4)) the workshop card is removed, the device will automatically offer to create the "last Technical Data printout". For this the calibration reasons 1-3 must already be available in the DTCO Rel. 2.2! Please note: When installing a new DTCO1381 Rel. 2.2 (recording equipment is activated but has not yet been calibrated for the first time), the personnel performing the inspection must create the last Technical Data printout when calibration is complete (i.e. after removal of the workshop card). 5. "Stand By" shown on the display From release 2.2 the DTCO 1381 will already switch to "stand by" mode after 1 minute! After another 3 minutes (customer-specific value) the display will switch off! Please make sure that this information is made available to all specialist staff in your workshop!
