5 Kindergarten Visuals Visuals, Resources, Patterns and Instructions for Bible Stories Summer Quarter, 2019 We Learn About God s Love Visuals are teaching tools that teachers of little children must use. Your effectiveness will depend on your using pictures to help little minds visualize situations with which they are not familiar. This packet provides several different resources to use in presenting Bible stories. Each visual figure has the number of the lesson first with a sequence number following it. Directions for numbered resource items are in the lesson of first use. Lesson 1 June 2, 2019 Visuals: Flip-side visual scenes 1-1 and 1-2 Resources: Items 1-3 Abraham and Sarah Moved to a New Home Genesis 12:1-20 Item 1 Door Decoration. Learning about God s love begins the moment a child enters your class area. Display this poster on the door to identify your room and help the children think about the precious love of the Father in Heaven, or display it in the worship center or another appropriate spot in your room if you prefer. Wherever you place it, the attractive design will help young children identify their room as a happy place to learn about God s love. Item 2 Attendance Chart. Children enjoy using seals to record their attendance each week. Use Heart stickers to make the attendance chart sparkle with color. Hearts speak of love, the theme of this study. Keep the seals in the classroom so that they are handy to use each week. Item 3 Paper Tent. This simple tent model will help children understand more clearly what life was like in Abraham s time. Let each child make one. Copy the pattern in this book. Color the stripes or glue narrow strips 1 of contrasting colored paper over them. Cut around outer edges. Fold on broken lines. Set the tent on a tabletop or in a sandbox. When it came time to move, Abraham took down his tent, folded it and took it with him to his new homeland. Visual Preparation: Prepare the visual by trimming away the border. Fold along the center line. Spread the bottom edges apart slightly for the visual to stand. Bible Story (Use a deep voice with emphasis as you speak God s message to Abram. The children will listen more closely.) Leave your home country and go to the land where I will show you, God said to Abram one day. I will make of you a great nation. I will bless you. I will make your name great. All families of the earth will be blessed through you. Abram believed God. He wanted to do whatever God said. Sarai, we will move to another country, Abram told his wife. They packed their belongings. (Show scene 1-1 of the visual.) Abram believed God would care for them. He obeyed God in faith. There were no trucks or moving vans then. Abram tied bundles of things on the backs of animals. They started out for the new home where God wanted Abram to live. Abram knew God was with him. Finally, Abram arrived in the new homeland. God reminded Abram of the promise. All this land, as far as you can see, will be yours someday, God told Abram. I will give it to you and to your children and their children. (Turn visual to show scene 1-2.)
