(HS code vegetables 07.03 07.09; fruit 08.03 08.10) MARKETSURVEY fresh fruit & vegetables worldwide Summery Nederland is na Spanje de tweede exporteur van verse groenten en vers fruit. In 2011 exporteerde Nederland voor een waarde van ruim 9,5 miljard dollar. Spanje was nummer één met een waarde van 11,8 miljard dollar. Nederland was wel nummer één op de lijst van groenten exporteurs met in 2011 een waarde van 5,8 miljard dollar. Op de vers fruit ranglijst staat Nederland op de derde plaats met een exportwaarde van 3,8 miljard dollar. Als importeur van verse groenten en verse fruit is Nederland de vijfde in grootte met in 2011 een importwaarde van ruim 6 miljard dollar. De USA is veruit koploper als met in 2011 een importwaarde van 14,5 miljard dollar. Als producent van verse groenten en vers fruit is Nederland een kleintje. Als verse groenten producent komt Nederland op de 21 ste plaats en op de lijst van verse fruit speelt Nederland een onbeduidende rol. Zowel de productie als de internationale handel in verse groenten en vers fruit blijven groeien, beide in ongeveer hetzelfde tempo. De productie van fruit heeft wereldwijd gezien inmiddels een omvang van 730 miljoen ton, in 2000 was dat nog 580 miljoen ton. De internationale handel in vers fruit is gegroeid van 43 miljoen ton in 2000 naar 70 miljoen ton nu. Wereldwijd wordt er nu 900 miljoen verse groenten geproduceerd tegen 680 miljoen ton in 2000. De Internationale handel in verse groenten is gestegen van 19 miljoen in 200 naar 36 miljoen ton nu. China is veruit de grootste producent van fruit op afstand gevolgd door India en ver daarachter volgt Brazilië en dan de USA,Turkije, Italië en Iran, Spanje, Mexico, de Filippijnen, Indonesië en Egypte. Bananen en watermeloenen zijn qua productie de belangrijkste producten met daarachter appels, sinaasappels en druiven. Bananen is ook het product dat het meest internationaal verhandeld wordt op afstand gevolgd door appels, sinaasappels en mandarijnen. China en India zijn staan ook op de eerste twee plaatsen als producent van groenten. Tomaten is wereldwijd gezien het meest geteelde product gevolgd door uien, kool en komkommers. Uien en tomaten strijden op de koppositie als product dat het meest internationaal verhandeld wordt. 1
