8 Nederlands Algemene beschrijving / Technische gegevens 1 Leveringsomvang P-505 In de verpakking treft u de volgende zaken aan: - Deze handleiding - P-505 Junctionbox Controleer of de bovengenoemde onderdelen allemaal aanwezig zijn. Is dit niet het geval, contacteer dan zo snel mogelijk uw dealer. Lees voor het installeren van de P-505 aandachtig deze handleiding door. Als er vragen of onduidelijkheden zijn, neem dan contact op met uw dealer. 2 Beschrijving meegeleverde items 1 Handleiding Hierin is het aansluiten, de functionaliteit en de bediening van de P-505 terug te vinden. 2 P-505 Junctionbox Hierin worden de noodzakelijke aansluitingen van de piloot op externe apparaten gemaakt. 10 Installatievoorschrift 1 Montage P-505 junctionbox De P-505 junctionbox dient te worden gemonteerd op een locatie die goed toegankelijk is voor service doeleinden en bekabeling. De P-505 junctionbox dient gevoed te worden door 2 gescheiden voedingsspanningen tussen 21 en 36 Volt dc. Deze voedingen dienen extern gezekerd te worden met een automatische zekering van 6A. De P-505 junctionbox dient daarnaast bij voorkeur te worden gemonteerd direct op een aardvlak van het schip. Indien dit om praktische redenen niet mogelijk is, is het zaak een degelijke en zo kort mogelijke aardverbinding te voorzien van de bodemplaat van de junctionbox naar de aarde van het schip. Zorg altijd voor een goede trekontlasting op de kabels van en naar de P-505 junctionbox. Voorzie bij de installatie van de P-505 junctionbox altijd voldoende ruimte om inspectie of onderhoudswerkzaamheden achteraf toe te laten. 2 Aardingsvoorschrift Het P-505 pilootsysteem is type goedgekeurd onder categorie Protected from the weather (Class B), zoals beschreven in IEC Dat wil zeggen dat de apparatuur moet worden geïnstalleerd op een plaats waar het is beschermd tegen de invloeden van het weer. Alle onderdelen van het P-505 piloot systeem dienen te allen tijde correct geaard te zijn op de manier zoals is voorgeschreven in deze handleiding. Voorzie geen aardverbindingen anders dan welke zijn voorgeschreven in deze handleiding. Maak te allen tijde gebruik van goed afgeschermde kabels voor de onderlinge verbindingen tussen de onderdelen van het systeem en zorg dat de afscherming op de juiste manier wordt aangesloten. Indien hieraan niet wordt voldaan kan dit de werking van zowel het P-505 pilootsysteem als andere apparatuur aan boord negatief beïnvloeden. Zorg dat alle aardverbindingen bestand zijn tegen trilling en corrosie. Daarnaast dienen alle aardverbindingen zo kort mogelijk te worden gehouden en moet worden voorkomen dat er aardlussen ontstaan. Aanknopingspunten van aardverbindingen dienen schoon en vrij van verf of andere substantie te zijn om een optimale verbinding te bereiken. Verbind de aardaansluitingen van alle onderdelen van het P-505 piloot systeem met een enkel aardpunt van het schip in sterconfiguratie waar de situatie dit toelaat. Tijdens inbedrijfstelling dient een visuele inspectie van de installatie worden uitgevoerd waarbij zal worden gecontroleerd of aan de installatie eisen uit dit document is voldaan. 11 Aansluitingen 1 Aansluitingen P-505 Junctionbox K1: Voeding P-505 De P-505 Junctionbox kan op 1 of op 2 voedingen worden aangesloten. Voor een grotere bedrijfszekerheid wordt geadviseerd de P-505 altijd op 2 voedingen aan te sluiten. In het geval dat één van beide voedingen wegvalt dan zal de P-505 blijven werken op de tweede voeding. Indien slechts 1 voeding wordt gebruikt, dan dienen de aansluitingen van de hoofdvoeding te worden doorgelust naar de reservevoeding zodanig dat zowel de hoofd- als de reserve voeding aansluiting van de P-505 van spanning zijn voorzien. Indien dit niet wordt gedaan zal telkens wanneer het apparaat wordt ingeschakeld de voeding indicator van de Sigma 650 en de Sigma 570 bediening rood oplichten en zal een akoestisch alarm klinken. Voor een correcte werking van de P-505 dient het spanningsniveau van zowel de hoofd als de reserve voeding tussen 21 en 36Vdc te blijven. Indien tijdens normaal bedrijf één van beide voedingsspanningen wegvalt of het spanningsniveau daalt tot onder 21 volt, dan zal een akoestisch alarm klinken en zal de voeding indicator op de Sigma 650 rood oplichten. In het geval van een pilootsysteem met een Sigma 570 bediening zal ook daar de voeding indicator rood oplichten en het akoestische alarm klinken. Het akoestische alarm kan worden onderdrukt door op de select/reset toets van de Sigma 650 of op de reset toets van de Sigma 570 te drukken. Indien beide spanningen aanwezig zijn en correct van niveau zal de voeding indicator van de Sigma 650 en de Sigma 570 groen oplichten. Draag altijd zorg voor een correcte en betrouwbare aarding van de P-505 junctionbox. Document: P-505 Manual Ver 02.doc Page 11 of 48

12 K2 : Communicatie Op connector K2 van de P-505 junctionbox bevinden zich één NMEA0183 ingang, één NMEA0183 uitgang en één bi-directionele tweedraads communicatie aansluiting. Op pin 1 en pin 2 van K2 bevind zich de NMEA ingang van de P-505. Op deze ingang kan de P-505 NMEA0183 informatie ontvangen die voldoet aan de IEC61162 standaard. De ondersteunde berichttypen zijn $xxrsa voor digitale roerstand informatie en $xxrot voor digitale bochtsnelheid informatie. De geaccepteerde baudrate is Op pin 3 en 4 van K2 bevind zich de NMEA uitgang van de P-505. Op deze uitgang kan NMEA0183 informatie worden uitgestuurd die voldoet aan de IEC61162 standaard. De berichten die kunnen worden uitgestuurd zijn $RZRSA voor digitale roerstand informatie en $RZROT voor digitale bochtsnelheid informatie. Deze berichten worden uitgestuurd met een baudrate van Op pin 5 en 6 van K2 bevind zich een bi-directionele communicatiepoort welke bedoeld is voor onderlinge communicatie tussen de Sigma 650 bediening en de P-505 junction box. K3 : ROT aansluitingen Op connector K3 bevinden zich de aansluitingen voor de bochtsnelheid sensor en de bochtsnelheid aanwijzer. Document: P-505 Manual Ver 02.doc Page 12 of 48

13 Op pin 1 en 2 van K3 dient het analoge bochtsnelheid signaal te worden aangesloten welke afkomstig is van de bochtsnelheid sensor. De P-505 junctionbox verwacht op deze ingang een signaal van 20mV per graad per minuut. Pin 3 en 4 vormen de bochtsnelheid repeater uitgang waarop het inkomende signaal van pin 1 en 2 terug wordt uitgegeven voor de bochtsnelheid aanwijzer. Op pin 5 en 6 bevind zich een 24Vdc uitgaande voeding waarmee direct de bochtsnelheid sensor gevoed kan worden. Deze voeding is gezekerd op 2,5A en wordt uitgeschakeld wanneer de piloot wordt uitgeschakeld. Pin 7 en 8 vormen een galvanisch gescheiden ingang voor een extern R.O.T. alarm. Indien in de installatie gebruik wordt gemaakt van een P-300 bochtsnelheid sensor dan dient deze ingang te worden verbonden met het statuscontact van de P-300. In andere gevallen kan deze ingang desgewenst worden gebruikt. Wanneer deze ingang wordt geactiveerd zal de piloot een R.O.T. alarm genereren en is het niet mogelijk de functie bochtaanwijzer piloot te kiezen. K4 : RAI aansluitingen Connector K4 bevat de voorzieningen voor het aansluiten van de P-100 roerstandgever en de roerstand aanwijzer. Op pin 1 en 2 van K4 dient het analoge roerstand signaal te worden aangesloten dat afkomstig is van de P-100 roerstandgever. Het verwachte signaal mag varieren van -10Vdc tot +10Vdc waarbij 0 Vdc de middenstand van het roer is. Pin 3 en 4 zijn de RAI repeater uitgang waarop het inkomende signaal van pin 1 en 2 terug wordt uitgegeven voor de roerstand aanwijzer. Op pin 5 en 6 bevind zich een 24Vdc uitgaande voeding waarmee direct de P- 100 roerstandgever gevoed kan worden. Deze voeding is gezekerd op 900mA en wordt uitgeschakeld wanneer de piloot wordt uitgeschakeld. Pin 7 en 8 vormen een digitale ingang voor een optioneel extern roeralarm. Deze galvanisch gescheiden ingang veracht een spanning van 18 tot 36 Vdc om te activeren. Wanneer deze ingang wordt geactiveerd zal de piloot een roeralarm genereren en zal enkel tijdafhankelijk kunnen worden gestuurd. De functie bochtaanwijzer piloot kan niet worden gekozen indien het externe roeralarm actief is. Document: P-505 Manual Ver 02.doc Page 13 of 48

14 K5 en K6 : Stuurwerk 1 en 2 K5 en K6 zijn de connectoren waarop het primaire en secundaire stuurwerk worden aangesloten. Connector K5 is hierbij het hoofdstuurwerk welke in elke installatie aangesloten dient te zijn. K6 is voor een optioneel tweede stuurwerk. Zowel K5 als K6 kunnen het volgende aansturen: Danfoss Common+ Common- Motor drive Per stuurwerkuitgang is er op de P-505 een jumper voorzien waarmee kan worden bepaald of het betreffende roerwerk functioneert als aan/uit of met een proportionele regeling. De locatie en configuratie van deze jumpers is terug te vinden in de bijlagen van deze handleiding. K7 : Wachtalarm / alarmuitgang Op connector K7 bevind zich een relais uitgang welke, afhankelijk van de configuratie, kan functioneren als wachtalarm reset contact of als extern alarm contact. 15 In het geval dat deze uitgang is ingesteld als alarm contact, dan wordt het potentiaalvrije contact bekrachtigd wanneer er een alarm is. Op deze uitgang kan men bijvoorbeeld een externe optische of akoestische alarmindicatie aansluiten. Indien deze uitgang is geconfigureerd als wachtalarm reset contact dan zal dit potentiaalvrije contact worden bekrachtig gedurende 200 milliseconden met een frequentie van 1 maal per minuut zolang de piloot handmatig wordt bediend. De maximale belasting van deze uitgang is 1A bij 24Vdc. ST1 : Sigma 570 aansluiting Connector ST1 is een 25 polige sub-d aansluiting welke is bedoeld om een Sigma 570 bediening op aan te sluiten. Voor het aansluiten van de Sigma 570 dient enkel gebruik te worden gemaakt van de kabel welke met de Sigma 570 wordt meegeleverd. Het gebruik van andere kabels is niet toegestaan en kan de werking van de het systeem negatief beinvloeden. ST2 : RJ45 Ethernet aansluiting Als laatste is op de P-505 junctionbox een RJ45 ethernet aansluiting te vinden. Deze aanlsuiting is voorzien voor service doeleinden en toekomstige uitbreidingen en zal in de meeste situaties niet worden aangesloten. English. Document: P-505 Manual Ver 02.doc Page 15 of 48

16 Instellingen 1 DIP switch instellingen P-505 junctionbox Afhankelijk van de installatie en configuratie van de piloot dienen er verschillende DIP switch instellingen te worden gemaakt. Jumper steering system 1 mode; Indien deze jumper wordt geplaatst, zal stuurwerk 1 op connector K5 aan/uit (zwart/wit) worden aangestuurd. Indien deze jumper niet wordt geplaatst dan zal het stuurwerk proportioneel worden aangestuurd afhankelijk van de instellingen van de P-505 junctionbox. Jumper steering system 2 mode; Indien deze jumper wordt geplaatst, zal stuurwerk 2 op connector K6 aan/uit (zwart/wit) worden aangestuurd. Indien deze jumper niet wordt geplaatst dan zal het stuurwerk proportioneel worden aangestuurd afhankelijk van de instellingen van de P-505 junctionbox. De locatie van deze jumpers kan worden gevonden in de bijlagen van deze handleiding. Bediening Uitleg over de bediening van de piloot middels de Sigma 570, Sigma 650 en optioneel de Sigma 150 en Sigma 350 kunt u terugvinden in de handleidingen van de betreffende apparaten. Meer uitleg over de P-100 roerstandsensor en P-300 bochtsnelheid sensor kunt u vinden in respectievelijk de handleidingen van de P-100 en de P-300. Document: P-505 Manual Ver 02.doc Page 16 of 48

17 Foutzoekprocedure Hieronder vind u een overzicht van de meest voorkomende foutsituaties en hoe u deze mogelijkerwijs kunt verhelpen. 1 Piloot (Sigma 570) geeft roeralarm Controleer of het roerwerk reageert op grote stuurcommando s met de Sigma 650 in de functie wegafhankelijk. Indien het roer hier wel op reageert: Indien het roer wel reactie geeft, maar niet correct, controleer dan of de externe roeralarm ingang op K4, pin 7 en 8 actief is. Indien dit het geval is, zoek dan de reden hiervoor en zorg dat deze ingang gedeactiveerd wordt. Indien deze ingang niet actief is, dan dient de roerstand correct afgeregeld te worden, neem hiervoor contact op met uw dealer. Indien het roer hier niet op reageert: Indien het roer in de functie wegafhankelijk geen enkele reactie geeft, controleert u dan of de 24Vdc voeding spanning voor het stuurwerk op K5 (en eventueel K6), pin 1 en 2 aanwezig is en in de functie wegafhankelijk de gele led op de P-505 voor het betreffende roerwerk oplicht. Indien er geen spanning wordt aangeboden op pin 1 en 2, zorgt u dan dat hier de correcte spanning wordt aangeboden. Indien de spanning wel aanwezig is, maar de gele led brand niet, controleert u dan de zekeringen op de P-505 voor het betreffende stuurwerk. 2 Piloot (Sigma 570) geeft R.O.T. alarm Indien u gebruik maakt van een P-300 bochtsnelheid sensor en de piloot is pas aangeschakeld, wacht u dan tenminste 30 seconden en controleer of het alarm vanzelf verdwijnt. De P-300 moet mogelijk nog op toeren komen. Controleer of de externe R.O.T. alarm ingang op K3, pin 7 en 8 geactiveerd is. Zo ja controleert u dan waarom deze ingang actief is en zorg dat de ingang gedeactiveerd wordt om het alarm te verhelpen. Indien de R.O.T. informatie via NMEA binnenkomt, controleert u dan de integriteit van de berichten. Indien de data uit het bericht of de checksum ongeldig is, dan zal piloot een R.O.T alarm genereren. Zorg dat de berichten correct zijn om het alarm te verhelpen. 18 3 Piloot (Sigma 570) geeft communicatie alarm Indien de Sigma 570 een communicatie alarm geeft waarbij de voeding indicator van de Sigma 570 afwisselend rood en groen brand, dan wil dit zeggen dat er een probleem is in de verbinding tussen de P-505 en de Sigma 650 bediening. Controleer de verbinding op K2, pin 5 en 6 en indien dat niet helpt, neem dan contact op met uw dealer. 4 Piloot (Sigma 570) geeft spanning alarm Indien de Sigma 570 een spanning alarm geeft, waarbij de voeding indicator op de Sigma 570 constant rood brand, controleert u dan of zowel de hoofd als de reserve voeding op connector K1 van de P-505 aanwezig zijn en of beide spanning tenminste 21 Vdc zijn en maximaal 36 Vdc. 5 Piloot stuurt niet, maar geeft ook geen roeralarm Controleer of de piloot niet op de functie roerstand (stand-by) staat. Controleert u in het geval van een installatie met meer dan één Sigma 650 bediening of de Sigma 650 bediening die u gebruik om te sturen ook de geselecteerde bediening is. If you have any doubts or questions, please contact your local dealer. 2 Description of the items supplied with the equipment 1 Manual Here you will find information concerning the connections, functionality and operation of the P-505 junctionbox. 2 P-505 Junctionbox The P-505 junctionbox is the heart of the autopilot system which combines all the input and output from the different parts of the system. 21 Installation instructions 1 Installation of the P-505 junctionbox The P-505 junctionbox should be installed in a location that is easilly accessible for cables. The P-505 junctionbox requires two separate 24 Vdc power supplies. Each individual power supply has to be fused externally with a 6A fuse. If possible, the P-505 junctionbox should be mounted directly on to the the ship s earth plane for optimal connection. If this not possible for practical reasons, please provide a reliable connection between the junctionbox and the ship s earth keeping the length as short as possible and following the configuration as shown in the connection diagrams that can be found in this manual. Use only copper strips for making earth connections. The use of flexible braided bands is prohibited. Always make sure that there is sufficient strain relief on all the cables going to and from the P-505 junctionbox. During installation, care should be taken to allow sufficient space around the equipment to allow for easy inspection or maintenance work afterwards. 2 Grounding requirements The P-505 autopilot system is type approved under category Protected from the weather (Class B), as described in IEC The equipment shall be installed in such a way that it is protected from the weather. Outdoor installation is not allowed. All components of the P-505 autopilot system should at all times be properly earthed as prescribed in this manual. Use only the proper type of shielded cables for interconnecting the different parts of the system. Failure to do so may have a significant negative influence on the operation of both the P-505 autopilot system as well as other equipment on board. Make sure all earthing connections are capable of withstanding vibrations and are protected against corrosion. Apart from this, special care should be taken to ensure that all earthing connections are kept as short as possible and that there are no loops or fold backs in the connections. Earth connection points should be metallically clean and free of paint or other substances to ensure optimal conduction. Always connect the earth connections from the separate components of the P- 505 autopilot system to a single star point on the ships earth. Deviate only from this configuration if it is in no way possible to do otherwise. Where earthing connections run across the free deck, care should be taken to ensure that all these connections are made of corrosion resistive steel. All other earthing connections should be made of copper. During commissioning of the system, a visual inspection will carried out to ensure that all the installation and wiring requirements from this documents are met. 22 Connections 1 Connections of the P-505 Junctionbox K1: P-505 Power supply The P-505 junctionbox may be connected to 1 or 2 power supply sources. For greater operating reliability it is greatly recommended to connect 2 separate power supplies to the P-505. If the main 24Vdc supply fails, the P-505 will continue working on the 24Vdc backup power supply. If only 1 power supply source is used, the connections for the main power supply on pin 1 and 2 must be looped-through to the connections of the backup power supply on pin 4 and 5. Failure to do so will result in the power indicator on the Sigma 650 and the Sigma 570 lighting up red and an acoustic alarm will sound, indicating the absence of one of the power sources. To allow the P-505 to function properly, both the main and the backup supply voltage should remain between a minimum of 21 volts dc and a maximum of 36 volts dc. If one of the two power supply sources should fail during operation, or the voltage drops below 21 volts dc, the power supply indicator on the Sigma 650 will light up red and acoustic alarm will sound. If a Sigma 570 control unit is connected to the system, its power indicator will light up red as well. The acoustic alarm may be silenced by pressing the select/reset button on the Sigma 650 or the reset button on the Sigma 570. Only by restoring the failing power supply will this alarm disappear completely. If both the main and the backup power supply are present and the voltage level is within the accepted range, the power status indicator on the Sigma 650 and the Sigma 570 will light up green. Always take care to ensure proper grounding of both the P-505 junctionbox and all its peripherals. Document: P-505 Manual Ver 02.doc Page 22 of 48

23 K2 : Communication On connector K2 you can find one NMEA0183 input, one NMEA0183 output and one bi-directional serial communications port. Pin 1 and 2 of connector K2 form the NMEA0183 input of the P-505 junctionbox. This input can be used to supply the P-505 with NMEA0183 data according to the IEC61162 standard. The supported message types are $xxrsa for digital rudder angle information and $xxrot for digital rate of turn information. The accepted baud rate is Pin 3 and 4 are the NMEA0183 output of the P-505 junctionbox. On this port the P-505 can output NMEA0183 according to the IEC61162 standard. The messages that can be transmitted are $RZRSA for digital rudder angle information and $RZROT for digital rate of turn information. Pin 5 and 6 form a two-wire bi-directional communications bus that is used for connecting the Sigma 650 autopilot control unit to the P-505 junctionbox. K3 : ROT Connections Connector K3 contains all the connections for the rate of turn sensor and rate of turn indicator. In case of an analog rate of turn sensor, the rate of turn signal should be connected to pin 1 and 2 of connector K3. The signal should be according to the 20 mv per degree per minute standard. 24 Pin 3 and 4 of connector K3 form the rate of turn repeater output that can be used to connect an analog rate of turn indicator. This output repeats the incoming signal from pin 1 and 2. Pin 5 and 6 are a 24 volt dc power output that can be used to power the rate of turn sensor directly. This power output is internally fused at 2.5A and will switch off when the autopilot is switched off. Pin 7 and 8 form an optically isolated digital input that can be used as an external rate of turn alarm input. In case the installation uses a P-300 rate of turn sensor, this input should be connected to the status contact of the P-300 rate of turn sensor. In all other cases this input may be used if desired as an external rate of turn alarm input. When this input is activated, the autopilot will generate a rate of turn alarm and it will not be possible to select the rate of turn pilot function. The allowed voltage for a high level signal on this input is 18 to 36 volt dc. K4 : RAI Connections Connector K4 contains all the connections for the rudder angle sensor and rudder angle indicator. In case of an analog rudder angle sensor, the rudder angle signal should be connected to pin 1 and 2 of connector K4. The signal may range from -10 to +10 volts dc, where 0 volts dc is the rudder center position. Pin 3 and 4 of connector K4 form the rudder angle repeater output that can be used to connect an analog rudder angle indicator. This output repeats the incoming signal from pin 1 and 2. Pin 5 and 6 are a 24 volt dc power output that can be used to power the P-100 rudder angle sensor directly. This power output is internally fused at 900 ma and will switch off when the autopilot is switched off. Pin 7 and 8 form an optically isolated digital input that can be used as an external rudder alarm input. When this input is activated, the autopilot will generate a rudder alarm and if the follow-up function is selected, the steering will become time-dependent. It will not be possible to select the rate of turn pilot function while this input is activated. The allowed voltage for a high level signal on this input is 18 to 36 volt dc. 25 K5 en K6 : Steering system 1 and 2 Connectors K5 and K6 hold the connections for the primary and secondary steering system. Connector K5 is for the primary system, which should always be connected. K6 is for an optional secondary steering system. Both K5 and K6 are capable of driving the following systems: Danfoss Common+ Common- Motor drive For each steering output, the P-505 junctionbox has a jumper contact that can be used to set the output as either on/off or as proportionally controlled. The location and configuration of these jumper contacts can be found in the appendices of this manual. K7 : Watch alarm / alarm output Connector K7 is a relay output contact that can be configured to work as either a watch alarm reset contact or as an alarm output contact. 26 If this output is configured as an alarm output contact, the output will be activated whenever there is an alarm. The output can for instance be used to connect an external optical or acoustic alarm indication. If this output is configured to work as a watch alarm reset contact, the output will be activated for a period of 200 milliseconds at a frequency of once per minute while the autopilot is manually controlled. The maximum allowed load for this output contact is 1A at 24 volt dc. ST1 : Sigma 570 connection Connector ST 1 is a 25 pin d-sub connection that is used to connect the Sigma 570 control unit to the P-505 junctionbox. For connecting the Sigma 570 control unit to the P-505 junctionbox you should only use the 25 pin cable that is supplied with the Sigma 570. The use of other cables for this purpose is prohibited and may have a negative influence on the operation of the autopilot system. ST2 : RJ45 Ethernet connection The P-505 junctionbox has one RJ45 ethernet connection. This connection is used only for maintenance purpose and possible future additions to the system. Jumper steering system 1 mode; If this jumper is placed, steering output 1 on connector K5 will function in on/off mode. If this jumper is removed, the steering output will be controlled proportionally according to the settings of the P-505 junctionbox. Jumper steering system 2 mode; If this jumper is placed, steering output 2 on connector K6 will function in on/off mode. If this jumper is removed, the steering output will be controlled proportionally according to the settings of the P-505 junctionbox. The location of these jumpers can be found in the appendices of this manual. Operation Information about the operation of the autopilot system by means of the Sigma 570, Sigma 650 and optionally the Sigma 150 and Sigma 350 can be found in the manuals of these devices. 28 Troubleshooting procedure Below is an overview of the most frequently occurring fault conditions and an explanation of how these situations might be resolved. 1 Autopilot (Sigma 570) generates rudder alarm Check if the rudder responds to large rudder commands from the Sigma 650 control unit while the follow-up function is selected. In case the rudder does respond, but incorrectly: If the rudder does respond to a large rudder command, but it does not behave as expected, please check if the external rudder alarm input on connector K4, pin 7 and 8 of the P-505 is activated. If this input is activated, please check the reason for this and de-activate this input to resolve the alarm situation. If this input is not activated, it might be necessary to re-calibrate the rudder angle on the P-505. Please contact your dealer for this. In case the rudder does not respond at all: If the rudder gives no response at all while the follow-up function is selected, please check that the 24 volt supply voltage on pin 1 and 2 of connector K5 (and if used K6) is present and that the yellow led indicator on the P-505 for that particular steering output is on. If there is no power to pin 1 and 2 of K5 and K6, please restore this power supply to resolve situation. If this supply power is present but the yellow indicator on the P-505 still does not light up, please check the glass fuses on the P-505 for the specific steering output. 2 Autopilot (Sigma 570) generates R.O.T. alarm If your installation uses a P-300 rate of turn sensor and the autopilot was just switched on, please wait at least 30 seconds and see if the alarm disappears. It is possible that the P-300 rate of turn sensor needs to get up to speed. Check if the external rate of turn alarm input on connector K3, pin 7 and 8 is activated. If this input is activated, find the source for this and de-activate the input to resolve the alarm situation. If the P-505 junctionbox is configured to receive its rate of turn information digitally through NMEA, please check the integrity of the NMEA messages. If the data from the ROT message or the checksum is invalid, the autopilot will generate a rate of turn alarm. If the messages are invalid, the alarm situation should be resolved by ensuring correct NMEA messages. Document: P-505 Manual Ver 02.doc Page 28 of 48

29 3 Autopilot (Sigma 570) generates communication alarm If the power indicator on the Sigma 570 is flashing red/green, this indicates a communication fault between the P-505 junctionbox and the Sigma 650 control unit. If this alarm occurs, please check the connection between the P-505 and the Sigma 650 on connector K2, pin 5 and 6 of the P-505. If this does not solve the problem, please contact your dealer. 4 Autopilot (Sigma 570) generates power alarm If the Sigma 570 power indicator is continuously burning red, this indicates a power supply failure on the P-505. If this alarm occurs, please check that both the main and the backup power supply of the P-505 on connector K1 are present and that the voltage is between 21 and 36 volts dc. 5 Autopilot does not steer, but does not generate a rudder alarm Check if the rudder (stand-by) function is currently selected. If it is, then this behavior is normal and you should select another function to allow steering with the Sigma 650. In case the installation uses more than one Sigma 650 control unit, please make sure that the Sigma 650 unit that you are currently using is selected as the unit that is in command.
