1 Macroeconomie Hoofdstuk 1 t/m 6 en 9 t/m 12 Inflation rate: meet hoe snel prijzen stijgen employmentrate: meet deel van de beroepsbevolking zonder werk Real GDP: meet de totale inkomen van iedereen in de economie Is een stijdende lijn met terugvallen Recessie: milde daling Depressie: sterke(re) daling Deflatie: periodes van dalende prijzen inflatie: periodes van stijgende prijzen Endogenous variables: variablene die een model wil uitrekenen : Q d, Q s Exogenous variabele: variabelen die zijn gegeven : P, Y Q d :D(P,Y) Q s :s(p,pm) Er word gestreven naar evenwicht tussen vraag en aanbod : demand = supply : Q d = Q s Market clearing: vraag en aanbod passen zich aan elkaar aan Doordat prijzen flexibel of sticky zijn is er niet altijd evenwicht maar wordt er wel naar gewerkts, market clearing gaat er namelijk vanuit dat prijzen flexibel zijn maar in het echt zijn ze (op korte termijn) namelijk vast GDP: 1) Totale inkomen van iedereen in de economie 2) totale uitgave aan goederen en service van de economie 1) en 2) stelt hetzelfde voor omdat de uitgaven(expenditure) gelijk moet zijn aan het inkomen Stock: hoeveelheid gemeten op een bepaalde tijd : wealth Flow: hoeveelheid gemeten per tijdseenheid : income/expenditure GDP: price x quantity (prijs x hoeveelheid) gebruikte goederen zijn niet deel van de GDP, behalve als het verkocht word voor meer dan de eerdere prijzen -> toegevoegde waarde Imputed value: geschatte waarde(prijs) van goederen Nominal GDP: som van basisjaar prijzen x huidige hoeveelheid Real GDP: som van basisjaar prijzen x basisjaarhoeveelheid GDP deflator: x 100 % CPI: : CPI: prijzen veranderen (2 x zelfde mandje goederen) Net exports: waarde van goederen en services exported naar andere landen minus de waarde van goederen die andere ons voorzien : Export import NX = EX-IM GDP = Consumptie + investment + Government puchases + net exports : C + I + G + NX GNP = GDP + factor payments from abroad factor payments to abroad NNP = GNP Depreciation Unemployment rate: Labour force participation rate = 100%!! 100 % Labour force = number of employed + number of unemployed GDP hangt af van : 1) een economies inputs : factoren van productie en 2) haar vermogen om inputs in outputs om te zetten, represented door de productie functie

2 Factoren van productie zijn de inputs die gebruikt worden om goederen en services te produceren. De twee belangrijkste zijn kapitaal en arbei. 4 Policies that raise saving or lower investment lead to a trade surplus and policies that lower saving or raise investment lead to a trade deficit. Aggregate demand (AD) is the relationship between the quantity of output demanded and the aggregate pricelevel, in other wordse: the Aggregate demand curve tells us the quantity of goods and services people want to buy at any given level of prices. Aggregate supply (AS) is the relationship between the quantity of goods and services supplied and the price level. Long run: AS curve is verticaal Short run: AS curve is horizontal Over long periods of time, prices are flexible, the aggregate supply curve is vertical and changes in aggregate demand affect the price level but not output. Over short period of time, prices are sticky, the aggregate supply curve is flat and changes in aggregate demand do affect the econmy s output. Exogenous events that shift the aggregate demand or supply curve are called shocks to the economy. Demand shock: a shock that shifts the aggregate demand curve Supply shock: a shock that shifts the aggregate supply curve. Stabilization policy: policy actions aimed at reducing the severity of short-run economic fluctuations.

5 IS-LM model IS stands for investment and savings, and the IS curve represents what is going on in the market for goods and services LM stands for liquidity and money, and the lm curve represents what is happening to the supply and demand for money. Planned expenditure is the amount households, firms and the government would like to spend on goods and services (closed economy) E = C + I + G Keynesian cross : Y = E en E = C + I + G The equilibrium in the Keynesian cross is the point at which income equals planned expenditure. The ratio ΔY/ΔG is called the government-purchases multiplier ;it tells us how much income rises in response to a 1 increase in government purchases Tax multiplier: the amount income changes in response to a 1,0 change in taxes. The aggregate demand curve slopes downward because a lower price level increases real money balances, loewers the interest rate, stimulates investment spending and thereby raises equilibrium income. Expansionary fiscal policy, an increase in government purchases or decrease in taxes, shifts the IS curve to the right. This shift increases the interest rate and income, the increase in income represents a rightward shift in the aggregate demand. Expansionary monetary policy shifts the LM Curve downward. This shift lowers the interest rate and raises income. This increase in income represents a rightward shift of the aggregate demand curve.
