invitation What is tuberculosis? Tuberculosis is an infectious disease that attacks especially the lungs. It is a worldwide problem. Each year, two million people die of the disease. Early detection is of vital importance. You can have an examination for tuberculosis free of charge. Make an appointment at the health care centre in your neighbourhood.

Infection is caused by breathing infected air Only a person carrying the infectious kind of tuberculosis can pass on the disease Warning signs are persistant coughing, sputum (sometimes bloody), breathing difficulty, fever, fatigue, weight loss, night sweats Mind, you can be ill without showing all these symptoms!

free examination for tuberculosis There an X-ray of your lungs is taken. What do you wear? No jewellery, no outer clothes with buttons, no bra You do not have to expose your upper body, if you wear a tight shirt

You leave a telephonenumber where we can reach you If you do not hear from us within 14 days, it means that your X-ray did not show any irregularities Are you worried nevertheless, please contact us When your X-ray does show irregularities, you will receive notice within 14 days You will be referred to a specialist for further examination
free examination for tuberculosis What if tuberculosis is detected? With proper treatment, tuberculosis can be cured fully Will you be expelled when you got TBC? No, the screening has no consequences on your residence When you got tuberculosis, you will be treated with medicine in Belgium
