Your student number, name, address and signature have to be mentioned in the letter to the Board of Examiners. Vervroegde sluiting 24 december Hierbij berichten wij u dat de faculteit CiTG op 24 december, zoals op deze datum gebruikelijk is, om 15:30 uur gesloten zal worden. Faculty to close early on 24 December Hereby we announce that on December 24th the faculty of CEG will, as usual on this date, close at 15.30h. Faculteit CiTG gesloten Het complex CiTG is van donderdag 25 december 2008 tot en met zondag 4 januari 2009 in verband met de feestdagen gesloten. Faculty CEG closed The complex CEG is closed from Thursday December 25th 2008 until Sunday January 4th 2009 due to Christmas Holiday and New Years Celebrations.

2 Mededeling van het International Office van CiTG Het international office is tijdens de kerstperiode vanaf maandag 22 december tot en met 4 januari gesloten. Vanaf 5 januari zijn wij ook in het nieuwe jaar weer beschikbaar voor stages, masterproject en alle international activiteiten. Vanaf 1 januari 2009 zijn wij niet meer op woensdag open. Onze openingstijden zijn dan: Maandag Dinsdag Woensdag Gesloten Donderdag Vrijdag Announcement from the International Office of CEG During the Christmas period the International Office of CEG will be closed from December 22 until January From January 5 we will again be opened for all internships, masterporject and all international activities. From 1 January the International Office will not be opened anymore on Wednesday. Our opening times will be: Monday Tuesday Wednesday Closed Thursday Friday TRAINEESHIP CT4040 : ARRANGE IT ALL BEFORE YOU START!! The CE Traineeship Office (being the course manager for CT4040) tries to ensure an adequate scientific level of the traineeship positions offered as well as thorough arrangements for supervision during the practical experience and does its very best to minimize the risks for our student trainees regarding accidents and liability. To enable us to continue our performance, it is crucial that all students fulfill all the necessary paperwork prior to the start of their traineeship. Please read the CT4040 Course Manual carefully and make sure your file at the Traineeship Office is complete before you leave. If not, your traineeship is formally considered not to exist and we do not guarantee any ECTS credit points to be obtained from it. Only if all students cooperate, the Traineeship Office can maintain the above-average ranking of its performance in the Student Quality Monitor. Het inschrijfformulier is te vinden op Blackboard bij Course Documents. De startbijeenkomst is op 2 februari Toelatingseisen (uit Regels en richtlijnen examencommissie): Aan het eindwerk mag pas worden begonnen als de student met inachtneming van het bepaalde in lid 1 onderdelen met een totale omvang van 87 studiepunten uit het tweede en derde studiejaar heeft afgerond, en bezig is met het ontwerpproject 3.

3 In afwijking hierop mag de student die nominaal studeert, met het eindwerk beginnen wanneer hij met inachtneming van het bepaalde in het eerste lid onderdelen met een totale omvang van 74 studiepunten heeft afgerond, en bezig is met het ontwerpproject 3. (Onder nominaal studeren wordt in dit verband verstaan dat de student zijn bachelordiploma binnen drie jaar na aanvang met de opleiding kan behalen.) Marian Schalker, Coördinator BSc-eindwerk CSI São Paulo: Parallel World s workshop, 4 th -18 th April 2009 The organizers of the City Space Investigations are looking for 16 motivated TU Delft students to join a two week workshop in São Paulo (Brazil). The City Space Investigations are attempts to push workshop experiences to a new level by embracing participatory approaches, transdisciplinarity and ICT-based frameworks. During a two week on-site workshop participants will work jointly with Dutch professionals and students from São Paulo on a specific area to learn more about informal production of cities. Lectures and seminars from very diverse angels (academia and government, architects and developers, grassroots and NGOs) and the strong focus on onsite excursion, field work and local experiences should guarantee an integral experience. By doing so we hope to sensitize participants to urban complexities and generate final products that reflect the workshop ideology, as to say being flexible in frame, disciplines and scales. This call for participants is open to all students of the TU Delft: Architects, engineers, industrial designers and many more are invited to explore possibilities how the knowledge of their profession could contribute to a better living environment in a city that is marked by the harsh contrast of rich and poor. Keverling Buisman wrote the first Dutch Textbook on Soil Mechanics ("Grondmechanica") & "Statements of Highschool Students and other Laymen about the possible Tsunami of La Palma" and Professor Arnold Verruijt, Emeritus Professor, Faculty of Civil Engineering and Geosciences, Delft University of Technology "Keverling Buisman and the Start of Soil Mechanics" After the lectures we shall visit the desk at which "Grondmechanica" by A.S. Keverling Buisman (the first textbook in Dutch about soil mechanics) was written. A grandson of Keverling Buisman, Dr. A.K. Keverling Buisman, shall reveal a small memorial plate to
