2 Dankwoord 221 Dankwoord Dit proefschrift is tot stand gekomen dankzij hulp van velen. Allereerst gaat mijn dank uit naar alle patiënten die deelgenomen hebben aan de gerandomiseerde studies beschreven in dit proefschrift. De bereidheid van veelal zieke patiënten om deel te nemen aan wetenschappelijk onderzoek hebben mijn mensbeeld positief veranderd. Daarnaast gaat mijn dank uit naar alle verpleegkundigen, laboratoriummedewerkers en lokale onderzoekers. Zonder jullie medewerking had dit proefschrift niet tot stand kunnen komen. Menno, wat ben ik blij dat ik bij jou terecht ben gekomen! Dank voor alle mooie jaren, waarin ik alle ruimte van je heb gekregen om mij te ontwikkelen. Lieve dispuutsgenoten, lief jaar, jullie gezelligheid en steun is nauw verweven met de totstandkoming van dit proefschrift. Dank voor alle mooie feesten, vakanties en etentjes. Het waren welkome en geliefde momenten van ontspanning! Lieve Marjolein en Laurien, vele kilometers hebben jullie mijn geklaag over problemen met labafnames, invriesprotocollen en andere tegenslagen aangehoord. Dank voor alle kilometers die jullie de afgelopen jaren met mij hebben gelopen, zowel die op hardloopschoenen als op hakken. Lieve Eef, 12 jaar geleden stonden we samen broodjes te smeren bij de Waterlijn. Ondanks dat we er laatst achter kwamen dat we toch meer op elkaar lijken dan we dachten, verschillen wij op een aantal vlakken. Deze verschillen geven in mijn ogen kleur aan onze vriendschap, die ik al vele jaren koester. Dank voor je open blik, steun en gezelligheid. Lieve Paul, Anneke, Bart en Marjolijn, hartelijk dank voor het warme welkom in jullie familie. Ik heb mij vanaf moment één op mijn gemak gevoeld! 6 Curriculum Vitae 225 Curriculum Vitae By Elke Ribbens Judith Kooiman was born on February 13th She gained her athenaeum diploma from Veurs College in Leidschendam in 2006 and commenced studying medicine at Leiden University that same year. In 2007 she started working as a research assistant for the Repead study at the Department of Thrombosis and Hemostasis of the Leiden University Medical Centre. During this time she set up the Nefros study and won the Young Investigator Award in Contrast Media Research. In 2010 Judith became a PhD-student at the Department of Thrombosis and Hemostasis. During the following years she set up and coordinated another four clinical trials: the Saliña, Helios, DabiRenal and Kompas trial. For the Saliña trial she received a research grant from the Gratama foundation. She presented at several (inter)national conferences, and participated in the education of medical students. In 2013 and 2014 she won an abstract price at the Dutch annual medical conference of internal medicine. She was a finalist for the 2014 Elizabeth Barret- Connor Research Award in Epidemiology and prevention for investigators in training at the American Heart Association. As of 2014 Judith is part of the national committee creating the guideline on prevention of contrast induced-acute kidney injury. December 2015 Judith will graduate medical school. January 2016 she starts working as a gynaecology resident at the St. Antonius Hospital in Nieuwegein. Judith lives in Utrecht together with Christiaan and their two cats Max and Gijsbert. Chapter 13
