10 Curriculum Vitae Curriculum Vitae Jantsje Henrieke Pasma was born on 16 th of July 1986 in Borne, the Netherlands. In 1999 she attended the secondary school at the OSG Bataafse Kamp (Hengelo, the Netherlands) and graduated from the Gymnasium in In September 2004, she started her study Biomedical Engineering at the University of Twente (Enschede, the Netherlands), where she received her bachelor degree in November In September 2007, she started the master Biomedical Engineering with specialization Human Function Technology. During her study she organized a three weeks study tour to Brazil. Additionally, she followed three courses at the faculty of Human Movement Science at the Free University (Amsterdam, the Netherlands). She did her master internship at the department of Research, Development and Education of the Sint Maartenskliniek (Nijmegen, the Netherlands). In September 2009, she started her master assignment at the department of Biomechanical Engineering at the University of Twente investigating the asymmetry of proprioceptive reweighting between the left and right leg during standing balance. In September 2010 she received her master degree. After her study, she worked as a researcher at the department of Biomechanical Engineering of the University of Twente during 5 months. In March 2011, she started as PhD student of the BalRoom project (NeuroSIPE, STW) at the department of Rehabilitation Medicine in collaboration with the department of Gerontology and Geriatrics of the Leiden University Medical Center (Leiden, the Netherlands). During 4 years she worked on the studies described in this thesis. Since March 2015, she works as postdoctoral researcher on the EMBalance project (FP ) at the department of Biomechanical Engineering of the Delft University of Technology (Delft, the Netherlands). 253

In September 2004, she started her study Biomedical Engineering at the University of Twente (Enschede, the Netherlands), where she received her bachelor degree in November 2007.

14 Acknowledgements Acknowledgements Dit proefschrift was niet tot stand gekomen zonder de vrijwillige bijdragen van alle deelnemers. Als eerste wil ik daarom graag deze mensen bedanken. Ik stel het zeer op prijs dat jullie je hebben opengesteld voor deelname aan wetenschappelijk onderzoek, in het bijzonder aan nieuw ontwikkelde apparatuur, dat niet altijd even optimaal mee werkt. Daarnaast wil ik graag het Behandeladviescentrum Ouderengeneeskunde van het Bronovo ziekenhuis bedanken voor de mogelijkheid om een groot deel van het onderzoek op jullie afdeling uit te voeren. Zonder de hulp van al mijn begeleiding was ik niet op dit eindpunt gekomen. Daarom wil ik graag Andrea Maier, Carel Meskers en Hans Arendzen bedanken voor alle klinische ondersteuning, discussies en inzichten. Jullie hebben mij altijd geprikkeld om het beste uit mijzelf te halen. Daarnaast wil ik graag Herman van der Kooij en Alfred Schouten bedanken voor alle technische ondersteuning vanuit de Universiteit Twente en Technische Universiteit Delft. Tijdens het onderzoek heb ik veel steun gehad van Denise van der Meer-Engelhart. Denise, ik heb het erg fijn gevonden om als goede vriendinnen samen te mogen werken in het BalRoom project. Ondanks de afstand tussen Leiden en Enschede, maar mede dankzij onze vele (bijna dagelijkse) s en telefoongesprekken, heeft het bijzonder goed uitgepakt met een échte BalRoom als eindresultaat. Ik had mij geen betere collega en projectgenote kunnen wensen! Verder wil ik graag al mijn onderzoekscollega s van zowel de Revalidatiegeneeskunde als de Ouderengeneeskunde bedanken, met in het bijzonder Marjon Stijntjes en Iris Postmus. Ik vond het fijn om altijd alles met jullie te kunnen delen, van dieptepunten tot hoogtepunten. Daarnaast heb ik ook een aantal studenten begeleid waar ik zelf veel van heb geleerd, maar daarnaast ook veel aan hun bijdragen heb gehad, wat geresulteerd heeft in een aantal publicaties. Daarom wil ik ook jullie graag bedanken voor jullie bijdrages. Pap en mam, bedankt dat jullie me altijd gesteund hebben en een luisterend oor waren tijdens zowel de leuke als de minder leuke momenten tijdens de eerste helft van mijn promotietraject. Frank, ik ben blij dat ik jou ben tegengekomen en dat je deze taak hebt overgenomen tijdens de tweede helft van mijn promotie. Suus, zonder jouw knuffels had ik het niet gered! 257
