1 2013 Taiwan Scholarships and Huayu (Mandarin) Enrichment Scholarships Taiwan Scholarships Scholarship Purpose: The purpose of the Taiwan Scholarship Program implemented by the Taipei Representative Office in the EU and Belgium is to encourage outstanding Belgian and Luxembourgian students to undertake degree programs in Taiwan and to enhance educational and academic exchanges between Taiwan and Belgium and Luxembourg. While providing study opportunities for a wide range of disciplines at Taiwan s universities and colleges, this program also aims to: a. Promote knowledge, understanding and friendship between people in Taiwan and in countries around the world; b. Provide opportunities to increase academic and educational links with international institutions of higher learning; c. Develop outstanding professionals and experts to meet the needs of the global society. Value and Duration: a. Master s program: - Tuition and payment of academic fees, including credit fees, up to a maximum amount of NT$ 40, A monthly stipend of NT$ 20,000 up to 2 years. b. Doctoral program: - Tuition and payment of academic fees, including credit fees, up to a maximum amount of NT$ 40, A monthly stipend of NT$ 20,000 up to 4 years. Quotas: One Taiwan scholarship is provided by the Ministry of Education (MOE) of the Republic of China (Taiwan) for postgraduate programs.

2 Eligibility: An applicant must meet all of the following criteria: a. Be a high school graduate or above, have Belgian or Luxembourgian nationality, have an excellent academic performance in his/her most recent formal educational study experience, be of good moral character and not have any criminal records. b. Is not a national of the Republic of China (Taiwan). c. Does not have the status of overseas Chinese student. d. Has not already studied in Taiwan for the same level of degree as the one in which they currently intend to enroll e. Is not an exchange or dual/joint degree student in accordance with an agreement of cooperation between an international university/college and an educational institute in Taiwan, at the time of receiving a Taiwan scholarship. f. Applicant can not be the recipient of the Taiwan scholarship for more than a total of 5 years including the period of this application. g. Does not have any revocation record regarding the Taiwan Scholarship program nor from the Ministry of Education Huayu Enrichment Scholarship program. h. Is not a recipient of any other scholarship or subsidy offered by the Taiwan government or any other educational institutions in Taiwan. Required Application Documents: a. One copy of the completed application form. b. One photocopy of passport or other nationality certificates. c. One photocopy of the highest-level diploma and a complete grade transcript. <N.B. These documents must be authenticated by a Taiwan overseas representative office, if issued by international education institutions.> d. Two letters of recommendation e. Supporting admission application materials (e.g. photocopy of application forms for a degree program at universities/colleges in Taiwan.). <<N.B. 3 Huayu(Mandarin)Enrichment Scholarship Scholarship Purpose: The purpose of the Ministry of Education Huayu Enrichment Scholarship (HES) Program implemented by the Taipei Representative Office in the EU and Belgium is to encourage Belgian and Luxembourgian students and individuals to undertake Mandarin Chinese language study at a university- or college-affiliated Mandarin training center in Taiwan. This program also aims to: a. Help scholarship recipients acquire a better command of Mandarin Chinese, and hence a greater understanding and appreciation of Taiwan s culture; b. Promote friendship between people in Taiwan and in countries around the world; and c. Generate opportunities to increase exchange with international educational institutions. Quotas, Value and Duration: 5 to 20 language scholarships: A monthly stipend of NT$ 25,000 over the course of 2 months, 3 months, 6 months or 9 months during the period from September 1 st, 2013 through August 31 st, Eligibility: An applicant must meet all of the following criteria: a. Be 18 years of age or older, a high school graduate or above, have Belgian or Luxembourgian nationality, have an excellent academic performance in his/her most recent formal educational study experience and be of good moral character. b. Is not a national of the Republic of China (Taiwan). c. Does not have the status of overseas Chinese student. d. Is not currently a registered student at a Mandarin training center, or has never been a degree-seeking student at any university or college in Taiwan. e. Is not an exchange student in accordance with an agreement of cooperation between an international university/college and an educational institute in Taiwan, at the time of receiving an HES. f. Has never received an award either under this scholarship program or the Taiwan Scholarship Program. g. Is not a recipient of any other scholarship or subsidy offered by the Taiwan government or any other educational institutions in Taiwan. Required Application Documents: a. One copy of the completed application form. b. One photocopy of passport or other nationality certificates. c. One photocopy of the highest-level diploma and a complete grade transcript.

A TOCFL will take place in Brussels on March 16, For more information check our website >> Application Procedure Application period for Taiwan scholarships and Huayu Enrichtment scholarships is from February 1 st through March 31 st, The required application documents should reach the Taipei Representative Office in the EU and Belgium before March 31 st, To obtain an application form, please contact the Cultural Division of the Taipei Representative Office in the EU and Belgium or access to the website at Selection and Notification The Taipei Representative Office in the EU and Belgium will review and select eligible scholarship candidates as well as alternatives and will notify them by the end of April The eligible scholarship candidates are required to submit a copy of their school admission letter to the Cultural Division of Taipei Representative Office in the EU and Belgium by no later than the end of June Late submission of this document after the deadline will be deemed as a waiver for accepting the scholarship. In this case, the alternative(s) will be informed to fill any vacancy(s). The Taipei Representative Office in the EU and Belgium will send a scholarship award certificate to all qualified recipients before the end of July 2013.

6 2013 Taiwan Beurzen en Huayu Taalverrijking Beurzen Taiwan Beurzenprogramma Doel van het programma: Het doel van het Taiwan Beurzenprogramma geïmplementeerd door het Taipei Representative Office in the EU and Belgium is beloftevolle Belgische en Luxemburgse studenten aan te sporen hun studies in Taiwan verder te zetten en zo de educatieve en academische uitwisseling tussen internationale instituten voor hoger onderwijs te verbeteren. Naast het aanbieden van een grote variatie aan studiemogelijkheden in de colleges en universiteiten in Taiwan, heeft dit programma ook het volgende doel: Kennis, begrip en vriendschap tussen het Taiwanese volk en personen van over de hele wereld promoten; Kansen creëren om de academische en educatieve banden met international instellingen voor hoger onderwijs aan te halen; Uitstekende professionals en specialisten ontwikkelen die de noden van de geglobaliseerde maatschappij kunnen invullen. Voordelen en duur: a. Beurs voor een Master-opleiding: - studiegelden, inclusief credit fees, tot een maximum bedrag van NT$ maandelijks bedrag van NT$ tot 2 jaar lang. b. Quotas: Eén Taiwan beurs werd aangeboden door het Ministerie van Onderwijs (MOE) van de Republiek van China (Taiwan) voor Master- en Doctoraat-opleidingen. Kwalificaties: De kandidaten moeten aan de volgende vereisten voldoen: a. Zij mogen geen studies ondernomen hebben in Taiwan van hetzelfde niveau als het programma waarvoor ze de Taiwan beurs willen gebruiken; e. Zij mogen geen uitwisselingsstudenten of dubbel/gemeenschappelijk diploma studenten zijn overeenkomstig een academisch samenwerkingsakkoord tussen een internationale universiteit/hogeschool en een onderwijsinstantie te Taiwan terwijl zij een Taiwan beurs ontvangen; f. Zij mogen 5 jaar lang geen Taiwan beurs ontvangen hebben; g. Hun beurs werd nog nooit ingetrokken tijdens hun deelname aan het Taiwan Beurzenprogramma of Huayu (Mandarijnse) Taalverrijking programma; h. Zij mogen voorheen geen beurs behaald hebben onder dit beurzenprogramma of het Taiwan Beurzenprogramma; h. Zij mogen op heden geen beurs of subsidies ontvangen van regerings- of onderwijsinstanties in Taiwan. Vereiste aanvraagdocumenten: a. Een ingevuld aanvraagformulier; b. 10 Aanvraagprocedure De aanvraagperiode voor Taiwan beurzen en Huayu (Mandarijnse) Taalverrijking Beurzen is van 1 februari tot 31 maart De vereiste aanvraagdocumenten moeten het Taipei Representative Office in the EU and Belgium bereiken voor 31 maart Om een aanvraagformulier te bekomen, gelieve contact op te nemen met de Cultural Division van het Taipei Representative Office in the EU and Belgium of surf naar Selectie en Bekendmaking Het Taipei Representative Office in the EU and Belgium zal alle kandidaturen doornemen, en zowel in aanmerking komende beurskandidaten als alternatieve kandidaten selecteren. De gekozen kandidaten zullen hiervan op de hoogte gebracht worden tegen eind april De beurskandidaten zijn verplicht een kopie van de toelatingsbrief van hun gekozen school naar het Taipei Representative Office in the EU and Belgium te sturen voor eind juni Het te laat indienen van dit document wordt aanzien als afstand doen van de beurs. In dat geval zal een alternatieve kandidaat de kans krijgen de vrijgekomen plaats in te vullen. 11 2013 Bourses Taiwan et Bourses de langue chinoise - Huayu Bourses Taiwan(Taiwan Scholarship Programme) Objectif du programme: L objectif du programme Bourses Taiwan mis en place par le Taipei Representative Office in the EU and Belgium est d encourager les étudiants belges et luxembourgeois prometteurs à poursuivre leurs études universitaires à Taïwan et d améliorer les échanges éducatifs et académiques. En proposant aux universités et aux hautes écoles de Taiwan des opportunités d'études pour un large éventail de disciplines, ce programme vise également à: a. Promouvoir la connaissance, la compréhension et l'amitié entre les personnes de Taiwan et les pays du monde entier; b. Augmenter les opportunités d'échange avec les institutions de formation internationales; c. Former des professionnels et des experts exceptionnels pour répondre aux besoins de la société globale. Types de bourses, conditions et durée: a. Bourses pour obtenir le grade de master: - Les frais d inscription à l université, y compris les frais des crédits, pour le montant maximum de 40,000 TWD - une allocation mensuelle de TWD pendant maximum 2 ans. b.
