Examples 21 Categories of blended courses Classical blended learning courses in which a portion of the original course is replaced by active online learning activities and the contact moments are reduced and/or filled in more activating. Flipped classroom based on knowledge video s courses in which students have to prepare class by watching knowledge clips at home, and in class hours are devoted to exercises and applications of the theory. Flipped classroom based on embedding of the MOOC back in the campus course it is originally based on courses in which students have to study parts of the MOOC to prepare class. Contact hours are used for answering questions, discussions and working on (group) assignments. There is a cyclical relationship between the blended course and the MOOC. The MOOC components can either be transferred to Blackboard, or campus students can participate in a live run of the MOOC on EdX, selfpaced or scheduled Fully online course designed for target group on campus courses without any contact moments only for campus students. Example of courses in this category are online linkage program SEPAM and Ethics online for engineering. 22
