Meet je smartphone op: neem de breedte (b), dikte (d) en de hoogte (h). Bereken aan de hand daarvan de afmetingen van het zeil: Breedte zeil = b + d + 2 x 0,5 cm (voor de naad) + +/- 2 mm marge Hoogte zeil = h + d + 0,5 (voor de naad) Voor de iphone 4 kom je dan op 8 cm breed en 13 cm hoog. Dezelfde afmeting geldt voor de Iphone 3, iphone 3 GS, iphone 4 S, Samsung Galaxy S en Samsung Galaxy Ace. Voor de iphone 5 knip je het zeil op 7,8 bij 13,5. Houdt er bij het bepalen van de afmetingen rekening mee dat je smartphone er strak in moet zitten, want er zit geen sluiting op. Dus liever een mm te krap dan te wijd. Snijd of knip twee stukken zeil met de zojuist berekende afmetingen. Measure your smartphone: take the width (w), depth (d) and height (h). Calculate the measurements of the oilcloth accordingly: Width oilcloth = w + d + 2 x 0,5 cm (0,2 inch seam allowance) + +/-2 mm (0,08 inch) extra. Height oilcoth = h + d + 0,5 cm (seam allowance) For an iphone 4 you'll get 8 cm (3,15 inch) for the width and 13 cm (=5,12 inch) for the height. An iphone 3, iphone 3 GS, iphone 4 S, Samsung Galaxy S and Samsung Galaxy Ace will also fit into a sleeve with these dimensions. For the iphone 5: cut the oilcloth to a size 7,8 cm (3,1 inch) by 13,5 cm (5,3 inch). Keep in mind that your iphone sleeve has to fit tightly, cause there is no closure on the sleeve.

Knip of snij het vilt. Je doet dit het mooist met een liniaal zodat je het vilt evenwijdig knipt met het zeil. Ik houd een randje aan van 4 mm, maar je kan dit naar je eigen smaak breder of smaller maken. Cut the felt. You get the best result by using a ruler, so you can cut parallel to the oilcoth. I always aim for a rim of about 4 mm, but you can choose what you like best, smaller or more wide. Knip ronde hoeken in het vilt. Round the corners of the felt.
Stik langs de bovenrand van zowel de voor- als de achterkant. Begin een centimeter voor de bovenkant links en eindig 1 cm van de bovenkant rechts (zie de foto hieronder). Ik gebruik een sierstiksel dat lijkt op een lock-steek. Stitch along the upper sides of the front and the back pieces. Dive into your ribbon supply and search for matching ribbon (scraps) to use as labels. Speld de voor- en achterkant op elkaar, het vilt tegen elkaar aan. Steek je spelden in het vilt, zodat je geen gaatjes achterlaat in het zeil. Pin the front and back together, with the felt facing. Pin your needles in the felt, so you won't leave little holes in the oilcloth.
Vouw de lintrestjes dubbel en steek ze tussen de twee stukken vilt. Speld ze vast. Fold the ribbon and lay them between the felt. Pin them.
Naai nu de twee lagen op elkaar. Start rechtsboven aan, daar waar je zostraks gestopt was. Zo sluit het stiksel op elkaar aan. Stop links boven aan. Now stitch the two layers together. Start at the right side, there were you stopped before. This way your stitching will join up nicely. Stop at the top of the left side. En klaar is je zelfgemaakte iphone hoesje!
