3 Curriculum Vitae Judith Mirjam van Velzen was born on 11 December 1980 in Den Helder and grew up in Julianadorp. In 1999 she graduated from the Etty Hillesum College in Den Helder. Subsequently, she started with the study Human Movement Sciences at the Faculty of Human Movement Sciences at the VU University in Amsterdam. As part of her study, Judith completed a master thesis Return to work after spinal cord injury and two internships: one at the VU University about the effects of task constraints on wheelchair propulsion technique and gross mechanical efficiency after 3 weeks of practice, and one at Heliomare Research and Development about the usability of gait analysis in the alignment of trans-tibial prostheses. She graduated in Her graduation included the subjects Human Movement Sciences and Health Care and Human Movement Sciences and Ergonomics. On 1 June 2004 Judith started working as a research assistant at Heliomare Research and Development in Wijk aan Zee. July 2007 she started working on her PhD project Return to work after acquired brain injury at Heliomare Research and Development and the Coronel Institute of Occupational Health in the Academic Medical Center in Amsterdam. The results of the PhD project are described in this thesis. In addition to the three days per week that Judith was working on her PhD project, she was working as a senior researcher at Heliomare Research and Development. After the completion of this PhD thesis, Judith continued to work as a senior researcher at Heliomare Research and Development. She also remained affiliated with the Coronel Institute of Occupational Health as a senior guest researcher. 212
