5 Decree = legal background GIS-Flanders: start Ministerial agreement in 1995: Framework for collaboration to develop and implement a communication and management system for geographical information in the Flemish region. GIS-Flanders: what to achieve? 9 From SC GIS Flanders to AGIV (3 milestones) : Start of the Support Centre GIS Flanders Competence centre, technical centre, data distribution Part of Flemish Land Agency (location Brussels) 5 staff, 3 projects 2000: GIS-Flanders decree legal framework for the collaborative initiative 50 staff boost of internet services 2006: The Support Centre becomes AGIV An independent agency 110 staff, 150 projects Located in Gent Het Ondersteunend Centrum GIS-Vlaanderen is een afdeling van de Vlaamse Landmaatschappij 9
