2 What is water hammer? Water hammer (which often sounds as if the water pipes are being hammered ) is caused by the sudden deceleration of a column of moving water, which converts the kinetic energy into a pressure that may reach extremely high values. The problem usually occurs when the water fl ow is suddenly cut off by fast closing valves, which can be found in all kinds of waterconsuming machines and appliances. The water tries to fi nd a balance in the main water system. Dish washing machines, washing machines and taps that are suddenly closed may cause water hammer. This is accompanied by the annoying sound of banging, rattling pipes, but there is also a risk of leaking pipe joints or damage to appliances. Installation instruction Install the water hammer arrestor as close as possible to the source of shock. Use the right tools to mount the arrestor to prevent damage. The factory pre-charged pressure is 2 bar. If the system pressure is higher than 2.5 bar, you can add pressure (air) (auto valve at the top) up to a maximum of 0.5 bar below this system pressure. The maximum operating pressure is 10.5 bar. PLEASE NOTE: Never press the valve. This will cause the arrestor to lose its damping capacity. When water in the house is not being used, the 150A is in its normal state, where the air charge and water pressure do not fl ex the diaphragm. 2. When the water is being used, the 150A is still in balance of air pressure and water pressure, the diaphragm does not fl ex. 3. When water is quickly shut off, the sudden halt causes the water pressure to soar and the shock is absorbed by the diaphragm. 4. Followed by a sudden drop, which also acts on the diaphragm, fl exing it silently to handle the pressure changes. 5. Seconds after the shock, the diaphragm is back in its normal stage.

This adaptor allows you, for example, to mount the Watts water hammer arrestor 150A in such a way that it is positioned in exactly the same direction as the return water fl ow (see installation examples). The rubber membrane will directly absorb the increased water pressure. The damping effect will then be even more effective. When mounting the damper on the adaptor, the thread should be provided with Tefl on tape.
Wat is waterslag? Waterslag (zich vaak uitend in het slaan van waterleidingen) wordt veroorzaakt door het plotseling tot stilstand brengen van een hoeveelheid stromend water, waardoor de bewegingsenergie wordt omgezet in druk die tot zeer hoge waarden kan stijgen. In de meeste gevallen ontstaat het probleem wanneer de stroming wordt gestopt door snelsluitende afsluiters, zoals die voorkomen in allerlei waterverbruikende machines en apparaten. Het water probeert een balans te vinden in het leidingwatersysteem. Afwasmachines, wasmachines en snelsluitende kranen kunnen waterslag veroorzaken. Hierdoor ontstaat het hinderlijke geluid van klappende, rammelende leidingen, maar er bestaat ook een kans op lekkende pijpverbindingen of schade aan apparaten. Installatie instructie Installeer de waterslagdemper zo dicht mogelijk bij de bron. Monteer de demper met het juiste gereedschap om beschadiging te voorkomen. De vooringestelde druk is 2 bar. Indien de systeemdruk hoger is dan 2.5 bar kunt u druk (lucht) toevoegen (autoventiel aan de bovenzijde) tot maximaal 0.5 bar onder deze systeemdruk. Maximale werkdruk is 10.5 bar. Membraan blijft in balans tussen waterdruk en luchtdruk. 2. Tijdens doorstroming blijft het membraan in balans tussen waterdruk en luchtdruk. 3. Bij het snel sluiten van een kraan zal de waterslag worden opgevangen door het membraan. 4. Gevolgd door een plotseling drukverlies, waardoor het membraan geruisloos de schok absorbeert. 5. Waarna het membraan de uitgangspositie weer inneemt.

Met deze adaptor kan bijvoorbeeld de Watts waterslagdemper 150A zodanig worden gemonteerd dat de demper precies in de richting van de terugslaande waterstroom komt te staan (zie installatievoorbeelden). Het rubber membraan vangt dan rechtstreeks de verhoogde waterdruk op. De demping wordt hiermee nog effectiever. Bij montage van de demper op de adaptor dient u de schroefdraad te voorzien van Tefl on tape.
