5-9 Human Machine Interaction Development of in-vehicle equipment needs thorough evaluation. Advanced Driver Assistance Systems and In-Vehicle Information Systems must be safe and useful. Our driving simulator software and hardware is excellent for this kind of HMI research. Several automotive groups of technical universities in the Netherlands use our products for HMI research. Cabin or mock-up A lot of driving simulators are made with a real cabin. Although cabins give a realistic impression in most cases we deliver mock-ups. Mockups are cheaper, flexible to use and easy to setup. They can be placed in every office. Of course we can supply or integrate a cabin if necessary. Motion Motion is emotion. For HMI research motion is not needed in most cases. Driver behaviour is slightly influenced by motion cues. In most cases vibrations can be used for motion cueing. Green Dino offers fixed-base simulators with vibration motion cuing and motion based simulators with motion systems of third parties like D-Box. Data collection and analysis A broad range of parameters can be observed, analysed and stored. Researchers use the simulator data in combination with third party software like The Observer for Noldus IT and MATLAB. Force feedback Realistic steering is in some cases of major importance for driver behaviour assessment. We deliver several solutions or integrate third party solutions. Force feedback on pedals and gear lever can be integrated as well. Face or eye tracking Face or eye readers can easily be attached and synchronised with the simulator data. Scenario design 3D environments, traffic behaviour and vehicle characteristics can easily be adjusted with our editing tools. With drag-and-drop interfaces these tools offer the researchers engaging possibilities to setup their own experiments. Driving task architecture Our driving simulation software is build upon a unique architecture based on driving tasks. Driving tasks are complex procedures used for the assessment of the driver s behaviour controlling the other traffic. Automated feedback For driving style assessment and driver training a virtual instruction module is available with adaptive feedback system and road safety assessment. This system is unique and tested reliable by Delft Technical University. The passing rate for B license of simulator students is significant higher then those who only followed on road training.
