1 NIMBORAN Vanuit de Grissie-streek voeren verschillende paden naar de Nimboran-dorpen, waarvan Genjem het middelpunt vormt.... Hieromheen groeperen zich de kampongs Iemeno..., Sermay..., Kaitemo, Jeketim, Iemsetoem, Senggai, Benjem, Singgri en vele andere. - Halie 1930(1955):35. Ten zuidwesten van de Moengge's voeren de Nimborans de scepter over de omgeving. Zelfs het vrij volkrijke Grissie is bevreesd voor de Nimborans. Het is een goedig en vriendschappelijk gezind volk, dat op landbouwgebied hoger staat dan de mensen meer naar het noorden. De stam omvat een twintigtal kampongs waarvan vele aan de weg Demta-Genjem-Iffar zijn gelegen Halie 1930(1955): Nimboran. Hoewel volgens de overleveringen de hoofden ook uit het gebied van Gressie (Goenoeng Janso) afkomstig zijn, is dit een afzonderlijke stam met eigen taal Hoogland 1940(1955):64. Genjem, Singgri, Ombrop, Singgriwai, Meju, Benjom, Berap, Warombain, Nenggupku, Kaitemo, Paubaim, Hamonggrang, Jakotim, Sanggai, Imsetum, Bezum, Sarmai, Imemo (? zielen). - Galis : de Nimborangroep, wonende in de Nimboranvlakte en de ten Zuiden daarvan gelegen Noordelijke heuvelrug van de Mawir. - Voskuylen 1957 Ts:20. The Nimboran language, as it is commonly called, is spoken by some 3000 people who call themselves nembruó_ or nembruóu_ and live in a rather flat area in the basin of the _gremi river (Grime on the maps) and on the northern slopes of the hills south of that plain. This area lies west of Lake Sentani, not very far from the north coast of New Guinea. After the second world war a number of Nimborans, for the greater part young people, gradually settled in Hollandia, the new capital of the then Netherlands territory, where they came to constitute an important group, consisting of several hundreds of people who kept alive the connections with their original country and always thought of their stay in town as being temporary. - Anceaux 1965:1. 2 Uria language in the west and south, by the Gresi area in the south-east, the language of the villages Kwansu and Bonggrang and the Kamtuk language in the east, by the Tanahmerah language in the north-east, and by the languages of Demta and Tarfia in the north. Of all these languages only Tarfia does not show any relationship to Nimboran. The closest relationships of Nimboran are those with the languages of Gresi, Kwansu-Bonggrang, Kamtuk and Mekwei (also called Menggwei) Anceaux 1965:1.... Nimboran to the west of Gresik...
