Vervolgens begonhijin1997metdestudiebiologieaandeuniversiteitleiden.alsonderdeel van deze opleiding heeft hij een onderzoeksstage gelopen bij de vakgroep Gistgenetica van de Universiteit Leiden (Dr. Y. Steensma) en bij de vakgroep OncologyandPathologyvanhetKarolinskaInstituut(Prof.Dr.R.Kiessling).In2003 heeft hij zijn doctoraal behaald en werkte daarna 6 maanden als junior onderzoeker bij de vakgroep Medische Farmacologie van de Universiteit Leiden (LACDR/LUMC).
