With the strong sense of ethics, the artists Barbara De Morree and Elske Verdoorn are giving a voice to special, anonymous Hague persons, erasing the boundaries between the persona of the observing artist and the persona of her inspiration. In these uncommon cases the objects of inspiration become subjects. This time the artists will create new works or investigate the existing ones from different perspectives, especially for the See Lab exhibition space. Duo PROJECTS Atelier Domus Leger des Heils : een creatieve werkplek voor mensen met verslavingsproblemen 2018 Atelier Domus Bibliotheek Schilderswijk The Hague, Netherlands Kleurrijke portretten, een ultramodern gedicht, een schilderij op het plafond: In Atelier Domus kan je van alles tegenkomen. In de Schilderswijk-bibliotheek is in februari een bijzondere expo te zien; foto s, verhalen, schilderijen en

2 gedichten die gemaakt zijn door de bewoners van Domus, een opvanghuis van het Leger des Heils, bij elkaar gebracht door beeldend kunstenaar Elske Verdoorn. De expositie laat de kracht, creativiteit en humor zien van een groep die vaak vooral negatief onder de aandacht is. Elske Verdoorn was een half jaar lang twee middagen per week in Domus. Ze werkte samen met de bewoners en maakte werk over hun dromen, verborgen talenten en persoonlijk verhalen. Om ze in het zonnetje te zetten en de buitenwereld - en zichzelf - te laten zien wat ze in hun mars hebben. Het resultaat is verrassend, grappig en ongelofelijk creatief. Birthday everyday Het Nutshuis, Den Haag The Hague, Netherlands Veel mensen in Den Haag kennen Eithel. Ze zien hem bezig op de basketbalveldjes in de stad of krijgen op straat een vel papier met scores van hem. Hij is een opvallende verschijning, met veel truien over elkaar aan en een zweetband om z n voorhoofd. Misschien denken mensen dat hij in de war is, of zomaar wat rond hangt. Maar Eithel weet precies wat hij doet. Hij is de enige man op aarde met Bewijs van Rijbewijs. De afgelopen twee jaar waren Eithel en ik vaak samen. Iedere week ging ik langs om foto s te maken, hem te assisteren bij het ver-ballen of gewoon om te kletsen. Deze expositie laat zien wat ik heb ontdekt over Eithels wereld, waarin stoplichten gezond zijn, dagen en dollars hetzelfde zijn en het elke dag verjaardag is. Waarin alles met alles verbonden is, al is dat soms bepaald onduidelijk. Figure Unseen Photo Fair Amsterdam, Netherlands My picture 'Afzal #1' was a part of the installation 'Pending' 2015 Bewoners van Domus Royal Academy of Arts The Hague In this project I collaborate with inhabitants of Domus, a refuge of the Salvation Army in the heart of the infamous 'Schilderswijk' area in The Hague. Most of these people are addicted, committed crimes and suffer mental health problems. But in this work we work together to create a different image, one that speaks of optimism and opening up, showing their creative skills and colorful thoughts. As a visual artist I create the circumstances in which they can create and contribute.
