2 Vergroot je wereld met tweetalig onderwijs TTO op OBC Bemmel is een volledige opleiding havo of vwo in twee talen. In de onderbouw volg je negen van de dertien vakken in het Engels. Dat is niet per se moeilijker, maar vraagt wel wat extra inzet. En: een beetje lef. In de bovenbouw doe je examen in het Nederlands én behaal je een International Baccalaureate Engels: een internationaal erkend diploma. Met een tweetalige opleiding op zak, ligt er een wereld voor je open. Na vijf of zes jaar spreek je Engels op het niveau near native speaker. Open up your world with bilingual education TTO at OBC Bemmel is a complete havo or vwo education in two languages. In the lower school you follow 9 out of the 13 subjects in English. That is not in itself more difficult, but it does require extra effort. And: a little spirit and determination. In the upper school you do exams in Dutch and you gain an International Baccalaureate in English: an internationally recognised diploma. With a bilingual education behind you, the world is your oyster. After five or six years you are speaking English at the level of a near native speaker. This gives you access to all kinds of (international) institutions for higher education.

3 TTO op het OBC: wat houdt dat in? Als je kiest voor TTO, volg je in de onderbouw een lesprogramma van 32 uur per week met daarin alle vakken van de onderbouw. De meeste vakken krijg je in het Engels. Je krijgt dus geen wiskunde, maar Mathematics. En geen geschiedenis, maar History. De inhoud van de lessen blijft hetzelfde als bij Nederlandstalig onderwijs. Alleen: jij en je docent spreken Engels. In het begin is dat even wennen, maar daar houden we natuurlijk rekening mee. Je zult merken dat het snel beter gaat. TTO at the OBC: what does this consist of? If you choose TTO, you will follow a 32 hour weekly lesson programme in the lower school, including all of the lower school subjects. You will take most subjects in English. So you won t have wiskunde, you ll have Mathematics. And no geschiedenis, but History. The content of the lessons remains the same as with Dutch education. Only: you and your teacher speak English. You have to get used to this in the beginning, but we take account of that and you will see that it then comes together quite quickly. Je wordt een wereldburger Zelfs excursies zijn in het Engels. Ieder vak verzorgt Engelstalige activiteiten. Zo leer je internationale ontwikkelingen en culturen kennen. Ook leg je contacten met leerlingen en studenten uit andere landen. In de eerste klas ga je al naar Engeland. In de derde neem je deel aan een uitwisseling in Europa. In de bovenbouw bepaal je zelf welke internationale stage je gaat doen. Met TTO word jij een wereldburger. You become a citizen of the world Even excursions are in English. Every subject provides activities in English. So you get to know about international developments and cultures. You also establish contacts with pupils and students from other countries. You already have a trip to England in the first year. In the third you take part in a European exchange. In the upper school you decide for yourself what kind of international internship you are going to do. With TTO you become a citizen of the world.

4 Het OBC: specialist in tweetalig onderwijs OBC Bemmel is een specialist in tweetalig onderwijs (TTO). Als senior TTO school behoren we met ons TTO-programma tot de top van Nederland. Het Over Betuwe College gaat bij de organisatie en de uitvoering van het Engelstalig programma uit van de kwaliteitseisen die gesteld worden door het Europees Platform (de zogenaamde Standaard Tweetalig Onderwijs). Bovendien is het OBC Bemmel de enige school in de regio waarop je zowel op het havo als op het vwo TTO kunt volgen. The OBC: specialist in bilingual education OBC Bemmel is a specialist in bilingual education (TTO). As a senior TTO school we are, with our TTO programme, among the top schools in the Netherlands. The Over Betuwe College organises and delivers the English language programme based on the quality standards set by the European Platform (the so-called Standards for Bilingual Education). Moreover, OBC Bemmel is the only school in the region where you can follow TTO at havo as well as vwo level. Een deskundig team Als je kiest voor TTO, krijg je te maken met een vast team van deskundige docenten en ervaren mentoren. Een team met aandacht voor jouw ontwikkeling. We leren elkaar goed kennen. It s my motivation to do TTO because I will be going to university after this school and then I will speak very good English. We get to know each other well.

5 You learn the English language so fast and that is very nice. Esmee Toelating Je komt in aanmerking voor tweetalig vwo bij een eenduidig vwo-advies van de basisschool en een Citoscore vanaf 545. Voor tweetalig havo geldt een positief advies van de basisschool en een Citoscore van minimaal 540. De afdelingsleiding beslist uiteindelijk over jouw toelating. Admission To qualify for Bilingual vwo you need an explicit vwo recommendation from your primary school and a Cito score of 545 or above. For Bilingual havo a positive recommendation from the primary school is needed, together with a Cito score of 540 I want to study minimum. The department management makes the final veterinary medicine, decision about admission. to live in South Africa and help the people and the animals. So I can use my bilingual education. Rogier

6 I knew a few people already at this school. They liked it a lot, so I went to the mini-lessons with my mother. I really liked it. Kris Kosten Tweetalig onderwijs brengt extra kosten met zich mee. Daarom vragen wij een bijdrage van 450,- aan de ouders/verzorgers van kinderen die TTO volgen. Daarvan betalen we onder andere de buitenlesactiviteiten. Voor ouders/verzorgers die deze bijdrage niet kunnen betalen, is er een speciale regeling. Costs Bilingual education brings with it extra costs. That s why we ask for a contribution of 450,- from the parents/carers of pupils who receive TTO. From this we pay for, amongst other things, extracurricular activities. There are special arrangements for parents/carers who are unable to make this contribution. I want to work abroad later. I want to work in Denmark, for LEGO. That is always my dream. Thom
