1 B&W.nr d.d B&W-Aanbiedingsformulier Onderwerp Werkbezoek Japan 2007 BESLUITEN Behoudens advies van de commissie OWZ 1. kennis te nemen van het programma Werkbezoek Japan 2007; 2. in te stemmen met deelname van de wethouder Economie en Publiekszaken en het afdelingshoofd Economische Zaken aan het Werkbezoek Japan 2007 van 15 juni tot 25 juni 2007; 3. door de wethouder Economie en Publiekszaken een verslag te laten maken van het werkbezoek en dit verslag ter kennis te brengen van het college en raadscommissie werk & financiën. - Samenvatting (verschijnt in persbriefing) De wethouder Economie en Publiekszaken zal samen met het hoofd EZ deelnemen aan de een werkbezoek Japan Het bezoek, dat wordt georganiseerd in samenwerking met de West-Holland Foreign Investment Agency (WFIA) en de Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency (NFIA), zal in het teken staan van, ten eerste, de promotie en profilering van Leiden en de West-Holland regio als attractieve vestigingslocatie voor Japanse / Aziatische biotechnologie bedrijven en, ten tweede, het opbouwen van de nieuwe contacten met het Japanse bedrijfsleven in de biotechnologiesector, instellingen en overheidscontacten. Daarnaast wordt voortgebouwd en voortborduurd op de reeds bestaande contacten. Ook zal Leiden worden gepromoot als toeristische bestemming, onder meer in het kader van het 400-jarige bestaan van de Nederlands-Japanse contacten in 2009, waarbij profilering van het Sieboldhuis een belangrijke rol speelt.
