6 Ontwerper / Designer Productomschrijving / Productdescription Wiel Arets (Heerlen, 1955) studeerde af aan de faculteit Bouwkunde van de Technische Universiteit Eindhoven. Met het ontwerp voor de kunstacademie in Maastricht (1993) brak hij internationaal door. Er volgden meer monumentale gebouwen van zijn hand: Woongebouw De Hoge Heren in Rotterdam, de universiteitsbibliotheek in Utrecht en niet te vergeten het eigenzinnige onderkomen van Lensvelt in Breda dat strak, sober, brutaal en transparant oogt. Arets beperkt ziet niet tot architectuur. Hij ontwerpt ook succesvolle interieurs en tal van gebruiksvoorwerpen voor gerenommeerde fabrikanten, waaronder Alessi en Quinze & Milan. / The power of Wiel Arets (Heerlen, 1955) creations lies in their apparent simplicity: limitation leads to powerful expression of the essential. Arets graduated from the Faculty of Architecture at the Technical University in Eindhoven. His International breakthrough came with his design of the Academy of Art in Maastricht (1993). More of his monumental buildings were to follow: the Hoge Heren twin tower residential block in Rotterdam, the university library in Utrecht and not to forget the home of Lensvelt in Breda, which looks austere, sober, bold and also transparent. Arets has not limited himself to architecture, as he has also successfully designed interiors and numerous appliances and consumer items for famous manufacturers, such as Alessi and Quinze & Milan. Stealth bank Net als de kastenserie werd ook de bank oorspronkelijk ontworpen voor het AZL gebouw in Heerlen. De bankenserie is modulair van opbouw en bestaat uit kopstukken en tussenmodules. Hiermee is letterlijke een eindeloze bank te creëren. De bank heeft een onderstel van metaal en wordt geleverd met comfortabele zitelementen. De zitelementen kunnen worden uitgevoerd in uiteenlopende materialen, zoals stof en leer in een brede range van kleuren. Door de modulaire opbouw is de bank volledig naar eigen inzicht in te delen, met alleen zitelementen of een variant waarbij een zitting met en zonder rug is gecombineerd. Banken staan los met stabilisatielast (grind) tegen kantelen, of aan vloer bevestigd. Bij demontage zitelement is onderstel toegankelijk. / Stealth bench was originally designed, like the range of cabinets, for the AZL building in Heerlen a city in the Netherlands. The bench range is a modular system and consists of a top, a module in between and a coupling element. Due to these features, a literally endless bench can be created. The bench has a metal base and comes with a comfortable seat, with a backrest if needed. The seat can be upholstered in different materials such as cloth and leather and a wide range of colours. Due to the modular system the bench can be give the form you choose, with a lot or just a few shelves, with only one seat or a combination in which a small seat is combined with a special back.
