CMH is specialized in the strategic use of popular media formats in traditional and new media for social change (the so called Entertainment-Education strategy). CMH 1

2 develops media interventions based on the Entertainment-Education strategy, which contribute to health and quality of life (see The CMH often acts as a mediator and facilitator in the development of television co-productions. This usually concerns the collaboration process between national health organizations, television networks and producers. The center organizes courses, workshops and presentations on the Entertainment- Education strategy and the collaboration process. Projects have been commissioned by Netherlands Olympic Committtee*Netherlands Sports Confederation (NOC*NSF), Netherlands Foundation for Sexual Transmitted Diseases (SAN), Netherlands Heart Foundation (NHS), National Institute for Sports and Physical Activity (NISB), Sensoor, Netherlands School for Public Health, Radio Netherland Training Centre, and the Health Research and Development Council (ZonMw) and international clients Radio la Benevolencija (Rwanda), Dance4Life, Soul City. University of Twente, 2006-present Associate Professor at the Behavioral Sciences Faculty, Department of Psychology, Health- and Technology. Developing and teaching a course on Entertainment-Education within both the Master of Psychology and Communication Sciences curriculum at the University of Twente. This course consists of a research practicum in which students carry out research on Entertainment-Education topics. This course has resulted in numerous study reports with a variety of typical Entertainment-Education evaluation methods. Netherlands Entertainment-Education Foundation, CEO EE2000 Event The aim of the Netherlands E-E Foundation (NEEF) is to stimulate scientific research in the area of entertainment-education and to serve as a platform for E-E professionals. The Foundation organized and hosted the third international EE2000 Event at Arnhem and Amsterdam in the Netherlands September 17-22, 2000 in collaboration with Johns Hopkins University, Center for Communication Programs in Baltimore and Ohio University, Communication and Development Studies Program. University of Wageningen, Associate Researcher, at the Department of Communication and Innovation Studies This resulted in a PhD dissertation The Turtle and the Peacock: the entertainment-education strategy on television; collaboration for pro-social change (279 pg). ISBN The dissertation researches the characteristics of entertainment-education television programs which are purposively designed to enhance prosocial behaviour (health, environment, racial tolerance), and their effects and conditions for success. Special attention is given to the collaboration process between communication and television professionals in the design and implementation of E-E television programs.
