4 Curriculum Vitae Jacqueline Hovens werd op 2 augustus 1962 in Linne (Limburg) geboren. Na het behalen van haar VWO-B diploma aan de Rijksscholengemeenschap in Roermond, studeerde zij geneeskunde aan de Universiteit van Maastricht. Eind 1986 behaalde zij haar artsexamen. Aansluitend werkte zij als arts-assistent psychiatrie (AGNIO) in het Maaslandziekenhuis in Sittard. Vanaf 1988 volgde zij de opleiding psychiatrie in het Psychomedisch Centrum Vijverdal in Maastricht (opleider prof. M. Richartz). Van 1991 tot medio 1992 deed zij in het kader van haar opleiding psychiatrie een wetenschapsstage in de kinder- en jeugdpsychiatrie aan de David Geffen School of Medicine aan de Universiteit van Californië Los Angeles (UCLA) (opleider prof. Dennis Cantwell), met een SIR-beurs van NWO. Voor haar opleidingsjaar sociale psychiatrie kwam ze terug naar Nederland (RIAGG Eindhoven ). Sinds augustus 1993 is zij BIG-geregistreerd als psychiater en psychotherapeut (psychoanalytisch georiënteerd). Van 1993 tot 1997 was ze opnieuw verbonden aan de Universiteit van Californië Los Angeles (UCLA), nu als fellow kinder- en jeugdpsychiatrie. In 1997 voltooide ze het artsexamen (USMLE) cum laude in de Verenigde Staten. Vanaf 1998 werkt ze als psychiater op de afdeling psychiatrie van het LUMC in Leiden, sinds 1999 als staflid. Ze is verantwoordelijk voor de psychiatrische consultatieve dienst en daarnaast actief op de polikliniek psychiatrie met als aandachtgebieden ziekenhuispsychiatrie, transplantatiegeneeskunde, geneesmiddelenverslaving en zwangerschaps gerelateerde psychiatrie. Ze participeert in vele liaison activiteiten in het LUMC, ondermeer bij de HIV groep, spoedeisende hulp, transplantatie afdelingen, oncologie, psychosomatische gynaecologie en seksuologie. Verder is ze betrokken bij het onderwijs voor medisch studenten, bij de opleiding van de arts-assistenten psychiatrie en participeert ze in het onderwijs van diverse medisch specialistische opleidingen (oa interne geneeskunde, neurologie en spoedeisende geneeskunde) in het LUMC. In 2008 startte ze haar promotieonderzoek binnen de Nederlandse Studie naar Depressie en Angst (NESDA), dat resulteerde in dit proefschrift.
