8 Surgical training and education - nu The first decades of the 21st century are bringing new challenges to the surface. With the ever-expanding range of diseases that are treated surgically and the development of new therapies, one is expected to learn more in a limited period of time. In light of the work-hour restrictions and increasing demand for documentation and other service-related duties, less time is available for learning or education.
