FACTSHEETshort PEPPERS Fruit&VegetableFacts; JanKeesBoon; +31654687684; fruitvegfacts15@gmail.com Paprika s: Nederland verliest terrein aan Spanje Export Nederland dit jaar fors gedaald De Nederlands export van paprika s is in dit jaar fors achter gebleven bij die in voorgaande jaren. Naar de top-4 afnemers kon er minder geleverd worden. Het grootste verlies werd geleden op de Duitse markt. In de periode januari-juli bleef de export (incl. re-export) van Nederland naar Duitsland meer dan een kwart achter bij die in dezelfde periode van 2012. Duitse importcijfers laten voor de import uit Nederland een iets minder dramatisch beeld zien. In de periode januari-augustus werden er in Duitsland volgens het Duitse statistisch bureau 11% minder Nederlandse paprika s ingevoerd. Derhalve is het vooral de re-export geweest die is achter gebleven. In diezelfde periode werden er in Duitsland wel een derde meer paprika s uit Spanje ingevoerd. Vergeleken met vorig jaar werd er vooral meer Spaans product ingevoerd in de eerste 3 maanden van dit jaar. De import uit Nederland (Nederlands product) bleef vooral in de maanden mei en juli fors achter bij vorig jaar. De Nederlandse export naar de tweede afnemer, Engeland, bleef in de periode januari-juli van dit jaar 5% achter en die naar Zweden 12%. De enige twee landen van betekenis waar dit jaar t/m juli wel meer paprika s naar toe zijn gegaan zijn: België en Noorwegen. Dit jaar minder ingevoerd in Nederland De Nederlandse import van paprika s is dit jaar t/m fors (een kwart) achter gebleven bij die in dezelfde periode van het vorige jaar. De import uit Israel halveerde en die uit Spanje was 6% kleiner. Dit nadat vorig jaar al een record export van meer dan 500.000 ton kon worden opgetekend. Vooral de export naar Duitsland in de eerste 7 maanden van dit jaar springt in het oog: +22%. Vanwege de grote Duitse vraag nam de export naar Frankrijk en Italië iets af. 1

Nederland s werelds tweede exporteur van paprika s De wereldproductie van paprika s is niet bekend. Er is wel een (FAO)cijfer over de productie van paprika s en pepers tezamen. China is wat dat betreft weer met afstand se belangrijkste producent met een geschatte (commerciële) productie van maar liefst 15,5 miljoen ton. Mexico, Turkije en Indonesië zijn de andere producenten met een jaaroogst vcan meer dan 1 miljoen ton. De wereldexport van paprika s is ook niet precies bekend. Het cijfer wat hierover beschikbaar is, is ook weer paprika en pepers tezamen. Mexico is dan de grootste. Van dit land is wel bekend dat het meer om pepers gaat dan om paprika s in 2012 resp. 403.000 en 364.000 ton. In exportwaarde gezien voeren paprika s echter de boventoon ten opzicht van pepers, resp (in 2012) 409 en 381 miljoen dollar. Overigens, vrijwel alles gaat naar noorderbuur de Verenigde Staten. Spanje is de tweede exporteur. Voor Spanje geldt wel dat er nauwelijks pepers worden uitgevoerd. Met iets meer dan 500.000 ton (in 2012) is Spanje dan ook in feite de belangrijkste exporteur van paprika s in de wereld. Nederland is wereldwijd gezien de derde exporteur incl. chillies en de tweede van alleen paprika s. Het gaat voor het overgrote deel om paprika s. De USA geregistreerd apart het product dat als organic is aan te merken. In 2012 ging het om 5.500 ton waarvan 3.300 ton van onder glas. Op afstand is Duitsland de tweede importeur en Engeland de derde. Nederland is s werelds vierde importeur.
