5 Hoofdstuk 1 1 Algemeen General 1.1 Toepasbaarheid van deze regeling Applicability of the regulations Deze regeling is van toepassing op het onderwijs en de tentamens van de These regulations are applicable to the curriculum and examinations of the Research Master opleidingen van het Erasmus MC. Research Master programs offered by Erasmus MC. Alleen de Nederlandse versie van deze regeling is rechtsgeldig. Only the Dutch-language version of these regulations is valid in law. 1.2 Begripsbepalingen en bevoegdheidstoekenningen in deze regeling a b c d Beschikking: Besluit van de Examencommissie of examinator inzake een bezwaar of verzoek van een student op grond van deze examenregeling. College van Beroep: Het college van beroep voor de examens (CBE) van de Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam. Examencommissie: De commissie, als bedoeld in artikel 7.12 eerste lid van de Wet, ingesteld door de Decaan. Examinator: De persoon, als bedoeld in artikel 7.12, derde lid van de Wet, die belast is met de beoordeling van een examenonderdeel. Examination Appeals Board: The Examination Appeals Board (CBE) of Erasmus University Rotterdam. Examination Board: The board referred to in Article 7.12 first paragraph of the Law, appointed by the Dean. ECTS studiebelastingpunten geven een numerieke waarde weer die aan elk onderwijsonderdeel wordt toegekend ter aanduiding van de studielast. Eén ECTS staat voor 28 uur studie. IELTS: Internationale test voor beheersing van de Engelse taal (International English Language Testing System) Master of Science thesis: De Master of Science thesis (MSc thesis) heeft de vorm van een wetenschappelijk artikel dat kan worden aangeboden aan een peer reviewed internationaal tijdschrift. De Master of Science thesis moet aantonen dat de student in staat is om resultaten en kennis in een wetenschappelijk artikel te verwerken. Er wordt gestreefd naar het indienen van een artikel voor publicatie, maar dit is geen eis. Voor specifieke eisen per opleiding zie de bijlage 2.3. Onderwijs- en Examenregeling (kortweg: OER): De regeling als bedoeld in artikel 7.13 van de Wet. Onderzoeksbegeleider: De wetenschappelijk onderzoeker die het onderzoeksproject van de student en de verwerking tot de Master of Science thesis begeleidt. De functies van onderzoeksbegeleider en tutor kunnen verenigd worden in één persoon. Opleidingscommissie: De commissie als bedoeld in artikel 9.18 van de Wet, ingesteld door de Decaan. ECTS: European Credits Transfer System, the system by which all 'participating' European countries record study load. ECTS credits are a numerical value allocated to course units to describe the study load. One ECTS represents 28 hours of study. IELTS International test to assess proficiency in the English language (International English Language Testing System) Master of Science thesis: The format of the Master of Science thesis (MSc thesis) is that of a scientific article that can be submitted to a peer reviewed international journal. The MSc thesis should demonstrate that the student is capable of collecting data and presenting results and has sufficient expertise to write a scientific article. The aim is to submit the article for publication, but this is no requirement. For specific requirements per program see appendix 2.3. Teaching and Examination Regulations (in short: TER): The regulations as referred to in Article 7.13 of the Law. Research supervisor: The scientific researcher who supervises the student s research project and its rendering into the MSc thesis. The functions of research supervisor and tutor may be combined in one person. 7 Hoofdstuk General k l m n o p q Opleidingsdirecteur: De Opleidingsdirecteur, als bedoeld in artikel 9.17 van de Wet, is onder verantwoordelijkheid van de Decaan belast met de organisatie en uitvoering van de opleiding als beschreven in de onderwijs- en examenregeling. Portfolio: Dossier waarin de student gedurende de opleiding gegevens moet noteren ten behoeve van de opleiding. Research Master opleidingen: Engelstalige onderzoeksmasters binnen Erasmus MC met een studieduur van 2 jaar (120 ECTS) die opleiden tot de graad van Master of Science in Health Sciences of Clinical Research of Infection & Immunity of Molecular Medicine of Neuroscience. Tentamen: Een schriftelijke of mondelinge toetsing van een onderwijsonderdeel. TOEFL: Internationale test voor beheersing van de Engelse taal (Test of English as a Foreign Language) Toelatings- en Beoordelingscommissie: De Toelatingscommissie beoordeelt en beslist of een kandidaat wordt toegelaten tot de opleiding. De Examencommissie kan aan deze commissie mandaat verlenen voor bepaalde taken. Het toekennen van vrijstellingen kan niet gedelegeerd worden aan deze commissie. Tutor: De adviseur/vertrouwenspersoon van de student gedurende de opleiding. Een student kan twee tutoren hebben met beiden een verschillende achtergrond. De functies van Tutor en Onderzoeksbegeleider kunnen verenigd worden in één persoon. De Opleidingsdirecteur wijst de Tutor aan. Program Director: The program director, as referred to in Article 9.17 of the Law, is under the responsibility of the Dean entrusted with the organisation and execution of the program as stipulated in the teaching and examination regulations. Portfolio: File in which the student during the program is expected to record data on behalf of the program. Research Master programs: English-taught, two-year research masters within Erasmus MC (120 ECTS) that lead to the degree of Master of Science in Health Sciences or Clinical Research or Infection and Immunity or Molecular Medicine or Neuroscience. Examination: A written or oral test of a study unit. TOEFL: International test of proficiency of the English language (Test of English as a Foreign Language) Admissions Board: The Admissions Board assesses and decides whether an applicant is admitted to the program. The Examination Board may mandate this committee to perform specific tasks. The granting of exemptions cannot be delegated to this committee. Tutor: The advisor/confidential counsellor of the student during the program. A student may be assigned two tutors each with a different background. The functions of research supervisor and tutor may be combined in one person. The Program Director appoints the tutor. 2015, Erasmus MC, Service Organisatie Kennis Page 7/28

Echter Health Sciences en Infection and Immunity hanteren de volgende definitie: een niet afgerond cijfer van minimaal 6,00 (beheersingsniveau 60%) dan wel een beoordeling voldoende of goed. Wet: De Wet op het Hoger onderwijs en Wetenschappelijk onderzoek, (WHW), verder te noemen: de Wet. Sufficient result: A mathematically rounded off grade of minimal 6 (six) or a 'satisfactory' or 'good' assessment. For details on the admission procedure see Appendix Schriftelijke bekendmaking toelating Written notification of admission Iedere kandidaat ontvangt binnen zes weken een schriftelijke bevestiging van aanname of afwijzing voor het programma, waarvoor zij of hij zich heeft aangemeld. A student, whose interest is directly involved in a decision by the Admission Board, may file an objection against such a decision with the Program Director concerned Beroep van de student tegen een besluit tot niet toelating Appeal from the student against a decision of non- admission Indien het bezwaar van de student ongegrond wordt verklaard door de desbetreffende opleidingsdirecteur staat voor de student de mogelijkheid tot beroep open bij het College van Beroep voor de Examens. If the objection of the student is dismissed as unfounded by the Program Director concerned, the student may lodge an appeal with the Examination Appeals Board. 1.6 Taal van het onderwijs en de examens Language of instruction Het onderwijs wordt gegeven in het Engels en de tentamens worden The language of instruction teaching and examination is English. afgenomen in het Engels. 1.7 Orderegel met betrekking tot toegang tot EURgebouwen en terreinen Onverminderd de ter zake geldende regels, zoals vastgesteld door de Raad van Bestuur van het Erasmus MC, zijn tevens de EUR orderegels door de Decaan mutatis mutandis van toepassing verklaard op de terreinen en gebouwen van het Erasmus MC en gelden deze EUR-orderegels derhalve ook voor de bij de EUR ingeschreven maar bij het Erasmus MC studerende Research Master studenten. De regels staan vermeld in op de website van de EUR ( Rule of order concerning access to EUR- buildings and -campuses Without prejudice to the rules in force, as established by the Board of Directors of Erasmus MC, the EUR rules of order have also been declared applicable mutatis mutandis by the Dean with respect to the grounds and buildings of Erasmus MC and consequently also apply to the EUR-enrolled Research Master students who take a program at Erasmus MC. De student krijgt een onderzoeksbegeleider en /of tutor toe gewezen. Het moment van toewijzing verschilt per opleiding (zie bijlage). Bij conflicten tussen de student en de tutor, welke niet binnen de Research Masteropleiding tot een oplossing gebracht kunnen worden, beslist de Examencommissie. Research projects within the Research Master programs The Program Director in consultation with the student decides within what research group the student will perform the research project. The student will be assigned a research supervisor and /or tutor. The moment of assignment varies per program (see Appendix). The Examination Board will decide on conflicts between the student and the tutor that cannot be resolved within the Research Master program. 2.3 Studielast Study load Elke Research Master opleiding kent een studielast van 120 ECTS. 12 Hoofdstuk 4 4 Beoordeling onderwijs en tentamens Assessment of instruction and examinations 4.1 Algemene regels General rules a Voor deelname aan iedere tentamengelegenheid geldt dat de student zich uiterlijk 14 dagen voor de betreffende tentamendatum volgens de gangbare procedures van de desbetreffende Research Master opleiding heeft ingeschreven, indien van toepassing (zie bijlage). Bij tentamens waarvoor een onvoldoende is behaald geldt in geval van herkansing het hoogst behaalde cijfer als geldig resultaat. Het aantal herkansingen is geregeld per opleiding. Indien naar het oordeel van de Examencommissie, als gevolg van de programmering van een examen, een tentamen of een praktische oefening, voor een of meer studenten een ongewenste vertraging van de studie is opgetreden of dreigt op te treden, dan heeft de Examencommissie de mogelijkheid na overleg met de desbetreffende examinator en Opleidingsdirecteur op verzoek van de desbetreffende student(en) eenmalig een extra tentamengelegenheid voor het desbetreffende onderdeel vast te stellen. Examinations for which a pass was obtained cannot be taken again. In case of resit(s) for examinations for which the result was insufficient the highest grade assigned is the valid result. The number of resits has been determined per program. 15 Hoofdstuk Assessment of instruction and examinations 4.2 Inzage en nabespreking Inspection and follow-up interview a Gedurende 22 werkdagen na de dag waarop de desbetreffende uitslag bekend is gemaakt, kan degene die een tentamen heeft afgelegd, inzage verkrijgen in het beoordeelde werk, en kennisnemen van de normen aan de hand waarvan de beoordeling heeft plaatsgevonden, alsmede van een toelichting op de beoordeling van zijn werk. Wanneer een student het, ook na bespreking met de examinator, oneens blijft met de beoordeling kan de student schriftelijk bezwaar aantekenen bij de Examencommissie. De student dient daar kopieën van de briefwisseling met de examinator aan toe te voegen. De schriftelijke visie van de student wordt door de Examencommissie aan het dossier toegevoegd; van een mondelinge visie legt de Examencommissie verslag, welk verslag aan de student wordt voorgelegd en voorzien van diens eventuele. commentaar door de Examencommissie eveneens aan het dossier wordt toegevoegd. Eventuele actie van de Examencommissie De Examencommissie kan naar aanleiding van deze eerste melding actie ondernemen, afhankelijk van de ernst van de in die melding omschreven tekortkomingen of gedragingen en van het weerwoord van de student. Zo nodig kan de Examencommissie zich in dit verband door derden laten informeren (zie verder het gestelde in lid 10 en lid 11). Een nieuwe melding Indien de Examencommissie op enig moment tijdens de opleiding, welk moment gelegen is na de in het eerste lid bedoelde melding, over dezelfde student opnieuw een melding als bedoeld in het eerste lid van dit artikel van een of meerdere docent(en)/examinator(en) ontvangt, dan wordt de procedure als omschreven in lid 1 t/m 3 van dit artikel herhaald. Indien de aard van hetgeen in de nieuwe melding is gesteld naar de mening van de Examencommissie daartoe aanleiding geeft, wordt door de Examencommissie het advies van een vertrouwenspersoon gevraagd omtrent de vraag of de opleiding door de student kan worden vervolgd en zo ja, onder welke voorwaarden. Possible action by the Examination Board On account of this first notification the Examination Board may take action, dependent on the severity of the shortcomings or misconduct described in this notification and the student s reply. If required the Examination Board may seek the advice of third parties in this matter (see also the provisions in paragraph 10 and paragraph 11). A new notification If the Examination Board at any moment during the program, and when said moment is later than that of the notification referred to in the first paragraph, receives with regard to the same student again a notification as referred to in the first paragraph of this article from one or more lecturer(s)/examiner(s), the procedure as laid down in paragraphs 1 t/m 3 of this article is repeated. If the nature of what is put in the new notification in the opinion of the Examination Board should be reason for this, the Examination Board will seek the advise of a confidential counsellor regarding the question whether the student may continue with the program and if so, under what conditions. 2015, Erasmus MC, Service Organisatie Kennis Page 20/28

De door de vertrouwenspersoon te volgen procedure Alvorens aan de Examencommissie advies uit te brengen hoort de vertrouwenspersoon de betreffende student en de betreffende docent(en)/examinator(en), bij voorkeur in elkaars aanwezigheid. In het gesprek/de gesprekken wordt door de vertrouwenspersoon onderzocht of, en zo ja op welke manier de student de gesignaleerde tekortkomingen zal kunnen oplossen. Onderdeel hiervan kan uitmaken een advies met betrekking tot het inschakelen van professionele hulpverleners of hulpverleningsorganisaties. Van dit gesprek/deze gesprekken wordt door de vertrouwenspersoon verslag gelegd dat aan beide partijen in afschrift wordt toegezonden en waarop beide partijen commentaar kunnen leveren. Het verslag en het eventuele commentaar van de partijen worden gehecht aan het door de vertrouwenspersoon aan de Examencommissie uit te brengen advies. Zo spoedig mogelijk na het horen van beide partijen brengt de vertrouwenspersoon aan de Examencommissie gemotiveerd verslag uit. Het advies wordt, met de aangehechte bescheiden, door de Examencommissie toegevoegd aan het in lid 2 van dit artikel bedoelde dossier. Appointing the confidential counsellor In the event of a case as referred to in paragraph 5, second sentence of this article, the Examination Board requests the Program Director involved to appoint an objective confidential counsellor, whether or not from Erasmus MC. The procedure to be followed by the confidential counsellor Before submitting an advice to the Examination Board the confidential counsellor hears the student and the lecturer(s)/examiner(s) involved, preferably in one and another s presence. The report and the comments of the parties, if any, will be attached to the advice to be submitted by the confidential counsellor to the Examination Board. As soon as possible after having heard both parties the confidential counsellor will submit a motivated report to the Examination Board. Tussentijdse voorlopige ontzegging van het vervolgen van de opleiding De Examencommissie kan bij een melding als bedoeld in lid 1 of lid 5 van dit artikel, bij wijze van ordemaatregel aan de student het vervolgen van de opleiding voorlopig en voor een door de Examencommissie te bepalen tijdvak ontzeggen, indien de ernst van het betreffende geval naar het oordeel van de Examencommissie daartoe aanleiding geeft. Zonodig kan in dit geval een ordemaatregel worden opgelegd na een mondelinge melding. De Examencommissie hoort na het treffen van deze maatregel onverwijld de betreffende student en de betreffende docent/examinator. Het beroep tegen een beslissing van de Examencommissie Tegen een beslissing van de Examencommissie kan de betreffende student binnen vier weken na verzending van die beslissing beroep instellen bij het College van Beroep voor de Examens van de EUR.
