His job includes quality assurance, internationalization (exchanges and internships) and being a front-officer for questions of staff members and students of the different programmes in European Public Administration (EPA), European Studies (ES) and the Joint Degree Public Governance across Borders (PGaB). Since 2014 he is also the internship coordinator of the bachelor EPA-programme (single degree and joint degree). In addition he performed activities (mainly making reports of their meetings) for the (former) regional knowledge institute in the area of urban policy KISS since its establishment in 2001 until In November 1991 he came as a PhD-student to the University of Twente. He received his PhD in November From January 1995 until July 2012 he was an assistant professor at the departments of Law (ABR), Political Science (POLMT) and Public Administration (PA). Since 2009 he is the editorial secretary of the Dutch magazine in the area of Public Administration Bestuurswetenschappen. Since 2015 this magazine (founded in November 1946) focuses exclusively on local government. Expertise Rik Reussing is a trained political scientist. His interest is in subjects at the frontier between political science and law, like administrative reorganization, constitutionalism, political-administrative relations, democracy and new forms of governance. A recent interest is in the history of the administrative sciences in the Netherlands. Next to his PhD-research he was involved in several research projects at the universities of Groningen and Twente. As an assignment for the Committee Program Evaluation he also performed a meta-evaluation of evaluation-research into administrative reorganizations. After his promotion in 1996 he was involved in several research projects at the University of Twente, for example on the role of the municipality council and councillors in Enschede, on municipal amalgamation in the province Gelderland, the involvement of minorities in policy-making in the province Overijssel and the organization of regional cooperation in the area of traffic policy. He also participated in a research project on the relationship between the openness of norms and the burden of rules and wrote a visitation-report on area-oriented working in the province Overijssel. For Bestuurswetenschappen he writes a section on international articles and books on local governance. At the moment he is involved (with Bas Denters and Marcel Boogers) in writing a chapter on the history of the involvement of the municipal council in regional governance since The chapter will be published in a book on the history of the municipal council in 2018.

5 Teaching In the past Rik Reussing has taught several courses at the University of Twente on subjects like administrative organization law, comparative public law and general principles of law. Until July 2012 he was assisting in several courses, mainly for the different educational programmes in the area of Public Administration and European Studies. Curriculum Vitae He was born in Emmeloord (Noordoostpolder) on June 14 th 1959, he visited secondary school (gymnasium Alpha) also in Emmeloord ( ) and he studied political science at the Free University of Amsterdam ( ). From 1986 till 1991 he was a researcher at the University of Groningen, from 1991 till 1995 he was a PhD-assistant and from January 1995 till July 2012 assistant professor at the University of Twente. On November 28 th 1996 he defended his dissertation. Since August 2005 he is educational coordinator of the programmes in European Studies.
