Dat merk je eerst aan de eenzaamheid van Marina, en dat Tom en Marina later toch nog samen bij elkaar komen. Dus het boek draait eigenlijk om dat het tussen Tom en Marina niet zo goed gaat, en dat ze later toch weer goed bij elkaar komen. Het verhaal is wel realistisch. Het gaat om het dagelijkse leven, er komen bijna geen dingen in die niet in echt zouden kunnen gebeuren. De personen Marina: Marina is de vrouw van Tom. Ze voelt zich eenzaam omdat Tom geen tijd voor haar heeft, en ze is nog niet gewend in het kleine dorpje waar ze sinds kort wonen. Tom: Tom is de man van Marina. Hij maakt lijstjes en aantekeningen van alles wat hij doet. Hij verwaarloosd Marina een beetje, en daarom is hij bang dat Marina een andere man heeft gevonden. De strijkende man: De man die het strijkwerk van Marina deed en haar wensen in vervulling liet gaan. Tracy.: Zij kwam Marina masseren in opdracht van de strijkende man. Zij was ook de vrouw die door Phill voor Marina werd aangezien. De detective; Phill: Hij werd door Tom ingehuurd om te ontdekken wat Marina van plan was in London. Ik zou de strijkende man wel willen leren kennen, omdat hij in het boek heel mysterieus wordt beschreven. In het boek kom je er niet achter hoe hij heet, en hoe hij weet dat Marina eenzaam is. En dat zou ik wel graag willen weten. Ik zou Tom niet willen leren kennen, het lijkt me een beetje saai persoon. Ook omdat hij de dingen opschrijft die hij die dag leuk en minder leuk vond. Ik vind hem ook een beetje vreemd denken, zijn Pagina 1 van 5

2 gedachtes komen in het boek naar voren, en dat spreekt me niet echt aan. Ik lijk niet op iemand uit de tekst, en ik zou ook niet iemand willen zijn. Vooral omdat Marina en Tom bijna geen vrienden hebben en in zo n verlaten dorpje wonen. De achtergrond Er wordy niet goed beschreven wanneer het verhaal zich afspeelt, maar aan de voorwerpen die in het boek voorkomen kun je wel uithalen dat het zich afspeelt in een moderne tijd. Dat zie je bijvoorbeeld aan een mobieltje of een strijkijzer. De tijd is niet belangrijk. De plaats is wel belangrijker, het gaat bijvoorbeeld om een klein dorpje waar Tom en Marina wonen, en dat ze daar eenzaam zijn omdat ze geen vrienden hebben. Ook gaan ze naar London, waar ze eerder hebben gewoond. De achtergrond is best wel belangrijk. Marina is eenzaam. Dan denkt ze vaak terug aan London, dat ze daar veel vrienden hadden, en hier niet. Een samenvatting van de gebeurtenissen Marina houdt niet van strijken. Toen stond er een man voor de deur, die het strijken voor haar wilde doen. Later kreeg ze een boodschap van hem via Tracy, een masseur die gestuurd was door de strijkende man. Marina vertelde Tom erover, en zei dat ze een dag naar London zou gaan, omdat ze naar een vriendin Joanne zou opzoeken. Dit loog ze, want Tom wist dat Joanne naar Nepal was vertrokken. Tom vertrouwde het niet, en schakelde een detective in. Marina ontmoette de strijkende man in London. Tom hoorde het verhaal van de detective, maar de detective was in plaats van Marina, Tracy gevold. Tom en Marina kwamen weer gelukkig bij elkaar, en gingen samen op vakantie. De titel Ik vind dat de titel wel goed is gekozen. Het verhaal draait wel om Tom en Marina, maar de strijkende man heeft wel veel invloed op het verhaal. Door hem zijn Tom en Marina weer goed bij elkaar gekomen. Je eigen mening Ik vond dit boek niet zo leuk om te lezen. Het was wel makkelijk, en daarom had ik het wel snel uit. Maar het verhaal vond ik saai, het was veel te uitgebreid verteld. Ik zou dit boek nooit zelf uitgekozen hebben. Ik heb wel eens zo n soort boek gelezen. Dat het tussen twee mensen niet zo goed gaat, en later in het boek weer wel. Ik zou dit boek niet aanraden, er zit geen spanning in en het is veel te uitgebreid verteld. Door alle details leest het niet lekker door. Aan het eind van het boek best moeilijk te begrijpen. Want dan kom je erachter dat de strijkende man, Tracy en de detective samen een complot zijn. Dat maakt het wel dat je het boek niet meer helemaal goed snapt. Interview I have some questions for Marina. Marina, what did you think about that you moved to Felton? I didn t like it, I though it was horrible. Because all my friends lived in London and then we had to move to Pagina 2 van 5

3 Felton, a little village. That was a very hard change. Why are you moved to Felton? Because, Tom had a new job. He could earn much more money with his new job. And his old job were boring, so we did this for Tom. You were lonely in Felton, but why didn t you look for nice people? Because all these people in Felton were much older then we are. And I had the feeling that they didn t like us, because we are new here. Why do you hate ironing? Ooh, I don t know actually, but it s so boring! You just do left, right, left, right, and I think that so boring! What did you though when the ironing man stood for your door? Yes, that was really strange. When the bell rang, I though it was the post or something. But I was a bit scared, because we never get visit. When I opened the door, I saw a very good-looking man. I didn t know what to say, but then he said that he should do my ironing. I didn t understand him, so I asked him if he would like a cup of coffee. He was really nice actually, so it felt close. The last question, did you know that Tom were jealous when you went to London with the ironing man? No, I didn t know, because I though that he believed me when I said that I intended to go with Joanne. I don t know how he knew that I was going with the ironing man. Ok, thank you for this interview Dagboekfragment Dear diary, Today, I met the ironing man. I was ironing, but I didn t like it, so I made words on the fridge door. Something I always do when I m doing something boring. Then the doorbell rang. I didn t know who it was, because we never get visitors. I was a bit scared, but I wanted to know who was there. So I opened the door, and there stood a good-looking man. I didn t know what to say, but then he said: Hello, I m going to do your ironing. I know it s crazy and I don t know what he means whit that. I asked him if he would like to drink a cup of coffee with me, he would like to. And in the meantime, he was ironing. When he was ready, he went home again. It was strange, because I don t even know his name, and where he lives! When Tom came home, I told him everything. But he didn t seem to be happy for me. His thoughts were somewhere else. Then I told him that I was going to London, I told him that I was going to London with Joanne, but that isn t true. Should the ironing man come again? Love, Pagina 3 van 5

4 Marina Ander Slot The beach was empty as the sun had already set and most of the other visitors had already returned to the hotel. Tom and Marina felt they had the beach all to themselves. Suddenly Tom stopped walking and looked along the beach. He could just see a small group of people sitting together, looking out at the sea and laughing. There were three people, two men and a woman. One of the men was quite big and for a moment Tom thought he knew him. He could not be sure because the man was not wearing a dirty, white raincoat, but he did look a little like Phil, the detective. The second man was good-looking and tall. Tom turned towards Marina and saw that she was also looking along the beach at the same group of people. Do you see them too? asked Tom at Marina. Yes, said Marina, that seemed like the ironing man and Tracy, but how do you know them? No, I do not recognize them, but the other men. That s Phil; the Detective. He was the one who followed you. But how do they know each other? Come, let s meet them. Tom and Marina walked to the ironing man, Tracy and Phil. They saw that Tom and Marina were coming forwards to them. Then Marina said: Hi, what are you doing here? Do you know each other? Ok, said the ironing man, I can tell you everything. I heard of a friend who lives in Felton, that you were very lonely, so for that reason I went to your house and we drunk a cup of coffee while I was ironing. I send you a message across Tracy that you had to come to London. We did this to make Tom jealous. We knew that Tom was going to read the newspaper, where Phil had an advertisement. I was the intention that Phil had to follow not Marina, but another. When Tom would see this, he would be jealous, and say sorry to Marina. So you helped us to be happy again with each other? asked Tom. Yes, said Tracy, But now we have to go, because we don t miss our plane Ok, bye, maybe see you soon! If they didn t say this, I should never think this! said Marina to Tom. No, me neither, but I m happy this is happened. And then they kissed, it was a very long kiss. Andere titel I don t know a really good title, but the title which I have invented is; Happy together. The story is about Tom and Marina, they aren t happy anymore with each other, and the ironing man makes them happy again. And that s the happy end. But I think the title; the ironing man is better. Brief Dear Tom, I m a pen pall of Marina. I don t know if you know about me, but I know everything about Marina. I live in London, so we have meet each other a couple times. I know that she is lonely here in Felton, but why don t you see this? You are the whole day on work, and she is alone home. Can t you image that she is feeling very lonely? She told me that it is so boring in Felton, that she is making words on the fridge door, because she has nothing else to do. Do you know of the ironing man? Are you jealous about that? Because she finally found a nice man, and immediately you think she has found another man. That s really weird, isn t it? But you have to go to Marina, and say sorry to her.
