De Haas en de Shildad O een goede dag ordt de shildad door de haas uitgelahen om zin traagheid en hi daagt hem uit voor een edstrid. De vos zou de sheidsrehter moeten zin. Toen de rae eenmaal egonnen as, liet de haas de shildad vanzelsrekend snel ahter zih. Halverege de eindstree, egon hi at te grazen en lezier te maken in het gras. Omdat het die dag arm as, daht hi dat hi in de shadu el even een dute kon doen. Ook al zou de shildad hem ondertussen inhalen, dan nog zou hi als eerste over de eindstree gaan. De shildad daarentegen loegde ondertussen standvastig, vasteraden en doelgeriht rihting de inish. Toen de haas akker erd, as de shildad nergens te ekennen. Hier shrok hi van en in volle vaart haastte hi zih voort, maar het moht niet meer aten. Toen hi i de eindstree aankam, stond de shildad als innaar o hem te ahten. (Aesous 6de eeu v. Chr.) Even i the turtle assed him, he ould e ale to rae to the inish line ahead o him. All this time the turtle ket alking ste ste ste. He never quit no matter ho hot or tired he got. He ust ket going. Hoever, the rait slet longer than he had thought and oke u. He ould not see the turtle anhere! He ent at ull-seed to the inish line ut ound the turtle there aiting or him. (Aesous 6th entur B.C.)
