2 Tractus3D Delta Printer Thank you for purchasing the delta printer. Dank u voor het aanschaffen van onze delta printer. To help you build the printer we ve made a small simple manual. Om u te helpen met de bouw hebben wij een kleine simpele handleiding gemaakt. 3 Motormount & motor Needed: Motormount bag and stepper motors Use the M3 x 6mm hex bolts with shim to fix the motor on the mount. Repeat this for all 3 motors and mounts. Benodigd: Motormountzakje en stappenmotoren Gebruik de M3 x 6mm inbusboutjes om de motor op de beugel te monteren. Herhaal dit voor alle 3 de motoren en beugels. Place the hammernuts with M4 x 8 bolt and washer on the side of the mount. (See picture above, don t tighten the nut!) Plaats de hammermoer met een M4 x 8 bout aan de zijkant van de beugel. (Zie foto hierboven, let op draai de moer niet vast!) Needed: Motor Pulley Place the motor pulley on the motor axle. Make sure the flat part of the axle is straight under the black screw of the pulley. Don t tighten the pulley yet. Benodigd: Motor Tandriemwiel Plaats het tandriemwiel over de motoras. Zorg ervoor dat de platte kant op de as recht onder de zwarte bout van het tandriemwiel zit. Draai het tandriemwiel nog niet vast. Mount the motor mount 11mm from the bottom on the vertical 20mm x 40mm profile. Make sure the hammernut turned 90 degrees in the profile. (Look into the grove of the profile to verify) Bevestig de motorbeugel 11mm vanaf de onderkant van het vertikale 20mm x 40mm profile. Zorg ervoor de de hamermoer zeker een 90 graden gedraaid is. (Even in de groef van het profiel kijken) Chapter: Motormount & motor 2

4 Idlermount Needed: Idler mount bag Fix the idler pulley with a M5 x 20 a washer and M5 nut on the idler mount. See picture for the right mounting order. Benodigd: Idler mount zakje Maak het Idlerwiel met een M5x20, ring en M5 moer vast aan de beugel. Zie de foto voor de juiste montage volgorde. Like the motor mount place the M4 x 8 a washer and hammernut on the side of the mount. Repeat both steps for all 3 mounts. Plaats net als bij de motorbeugel de M4 x 8 met ring en hammermoer aan de beugel. Needed: Optomount bag and opto endstops Mount the opto endstops on the Idler mounts with the M3 x 10 and nylon nut. See picture for mounting direction. Benodigd: Optomount zakje en opto eindstop Bevestig de opto eindstop op de Idler beugel met de M3 x 10 en nylon moer. Zie de foto voor de bevestigingsrichting. Repeat this step for all 3 brackets and opto endstops Herhaal deze stap voor alle 3 de beugels en opto eindstops. Chapter: Idlermount 3

5 Basic Frame Needed: All Brackets, Idler mounts and profiles Make sure the idler mounts are completed before you continue. Benodigd: Alle beugels, Idler beugels en profielen Zorg ervoor dat de idler beugels compleet zijn gemonteerd voor u verder gaat. Needed: Lower Frame Bracket bag Place the M4 x 8 bolts with a washer and hammernut on the lower frame bracket. Mount this bracket on a 90 degree angle on the bottom of the 20mm x 40mm profile Benodigd: Lower Frame Bracket zakje Plaats de M4 x 8 bouten met een ring en hamermoer in het onderste frame deel (lower frame bracket) en plaats deze vervolgens haaks op de bodem van het 20mm x 40mm profiel Mount the Idler bracket with opto 6mm from the other side of the 20mm x 40mm profile Bevestig de Idler beugel met opto 6mm vanaf de bovenkant van het 20mm x 40mm profiel Mount the upper frame bracket on a 90 degree angle on top of the 20mm x 40mm profile Bevestig de bovenste beugel (upper frame bracket) haaks op de bovenkant van het 20mm x 40mm profiel Chapter: Basic Frame 4

6 Mount the 20mm x 20mm profiles on the lower frame bracket with a space of 5mm between the 20mm x 40mm profile and the 20mm x 20mm profile Bevestig de 20mm x 20mm profielen aan de onderste beugel met een ruimte van 5mm tussen het 20mm x 40mm profiel en het 20mm x 20mm profiel Make sure the 2 profiles are aligned with the bottom and top of the lower frame bracket. Repeat this steps for the other 2 profiles too Zorg ervoor dat de 2 profielen gelijk liggen aan de boven en onderkant van de onderste beugel. Herhaal deze stappen voor de overige 2 profielen Mount the 3 built profiles together with a space around 256mm between each vertical profile. Make sure each profile is exactly mounted on the same distance as the other 2 parts of the triangle! Bevestig de 3 gebouwde profielen met elkaar met een ruimte van ongeveer 256mm tussen de vertikale profielen. Zorg ervoor dat tussen alle vertikale profielen dezelfde afstand zit! Mount the top brackets the same way and make sure you have exactly the same distance as measured in the step before! Bevestig de bovenste beugels hetzelfde maar zorg ervoor dat de afmetingen exact hetzelfde zijn als de metingen van de stap hierboven! Chapter: Basic Frame 5

7 Vertical Slider System Needed: Vertical Slider System Bag Insert the M5 x 35 bolts with shim and spacers like the picture in next step Benodigd: Vertical Slider System zakje Plaats de M5 x 35 met ring en vulbus op de manier zoals op de foto in de volgende stap aangegeven Make sure the wheel in the front of the triangle (single one with bigger hole) has got the excentric spacer Zorg ervoor dat het voorste wiel in de driehoek (degene welke alleen zit met een groter gat) een excentrische vulbus gebruikt If the balls aren t mounted please do so like the picture. Make sure you are using threadlocker/loctide! Als de kogels nog niet zijn gemonteerd doe het dan zoals aangegeven op de foto. Zorg ervoor dat u draadborgmiddel gebruikt zoals loctide! Place slider on vertical profile Plaats de slider op het vertical profiel Chapter: Vertical Slider System 6

8 Use the eccentric spacer and a wrench nr10 to remove the slider slack/backlash. There is a small line on the eccentric nut to indicate the farthest position of the wheel and the frame Gebruik de excentrische vulbus en een sleutel nr10 om de speling tussen het profile en de slider weg te halen. Let op het lijntje op de vulbus welke de positie van de as en het wiel aangeeft The sliders should not fall down if you let them go but with a very light touch they will move De slider mag niet uit zichzelf naar beneden vallen als je hem los laat maar met een klein tikje zal deze wel bewegen Chapter: Vertical Slider System 7

9 Belt & Clamps Needed: Belt and Clamps (or zip-ties) Installing the belt is not that difficult. Ensure to make the belt go around the idler pulley and motor pulley Benodigd: Riem en klemmen (of tie-wraps) Het monteren van de riem is niet heel moeilijk. Zorg ervoor dat de riem langs het idlerwiel en motorwiel loopt Insert the belt from the top of the slider through the hole Steek de riem vanaf de bovenkant van de slider door het gat Use the clamps (or zip-tie) to fasten the belt together. Place the clamp as close to the slide as possible. Make sure there Is enough tension on the belt Gebruik de klemmen (of tie-wrap) om de riem vast te maken. Plaats de klem zo dicht mogelijk bij de slider. Zorg ervoor dat er genoeg spanning staat op de riem Chapter: Belt & Clamps 8

10 Probe unit & Hotend Needed: Effector Bag and Probe Block Bag To make the printer easy to calibrate we are going to install a probe unit Benodigd: Effector zakje and Probe Block zakje Om de printer makkelijk te kunnen calibreren installeren wij een probe unit Install the endstop and parts like the picture Installeer de endstop en onderdelen zoals aangegeven op de foto Mount the Probeblock with 2 screws of M3 x 8 to the effector Bevestig het probeblok met 2 bouten van M3 x 8 aan de effector Put the hotend in the effector plate of your printer like the picture. Tighten the U-block on top with 2 screws of M3 x 8 to secure the hotend. Make sure there is no backlash in the hotend! If there is backlash use teflontape or isolation tape around the hotend upper part to get it without backlash! Plaats de hotend in de effector plaat zoals op de foto aangegeven. Bevestig het U blokje met 2 bouten van M3 x 8 om de hotend vast te zetten. Zorg ervoor dat er geen speling in de hotend zit! Mocht er speling in de hotend aanwezig zijn kunt u dit oplossen met teflontape of isolatietape om de kop van de hotend te doen! Chapter: Probe unit & Hotend 9

11 Extruder Needed: Extruder Bag Get the last motor and red colored aluminum extruder parts Benodigd: Extruder zakje Pak de laatste motor en rode aluminium onderdelen Place the motormount on the motor with the 2 extruder parts. Make sure there is a bearing on one of the parts supplied and don t forget the gear on the motoraxle Plaats de motorbevestiging samen met de 2 andere extruder delen. Zorg ervoor dat er wel een kogellager om een van de geleverde onderdelen zit en vergeet niet het tandwiel op de motoras Fix the extruder parts with 3 x M3 x 25 bolts and insert the pneufit in the extruder. Place the M5 x 45 bolt with locknut and shim to finalize the extruder with the spring like the picture Maak de extruder vast met 3 x M3 x 25 bouten en plaats te pneufit in de extruder. Plaats the M5 x 45 bout met borgmoer en ring om vervolgens de extruder klaar te maken met een veer zoals op de foto Chapter: Extruder 10

12 Mainboard Needed: Arduino Mount Bag Take the Arduino mount and screw the nylon screw spacers in the mount. Remove the extending parts of the screw spacers with a sharp knive Benodigd: Arduino Mount zakje Plaats de nylon vulbussen met schroefdraad in de bevestigingsplaat en verwijder de uitstekende delen met een scherp mes Fix the Arduino board on the spacers with the M3 x 6. Between the black connectors the M3 x 6 will have some friction but it will fit Bevestig het Arduinobord met de M3 x 6 bouten op de vulbussen. Tussen de zwarte connectoren zal er wat frictie ontstaan maar het pas wel Insert the RAMPS board into the Arduino board. Will fit in one way only! Make sure that every jumper is on the connector Make sure every pin is inserted right! Steek het RAMPS bord in het Arduino bord. Past maar op 1 manier! Zorg ervoor dat elke jumper op de connector zit Zorg ervoor dat alle pinnen goed zitten in een connector! Insert the drivers in the same direction as the picture! Make sure you place a heatsink on the driver. Watch the position of the potentiometer! Installeer vervolgens de drivers op de manier zoals aangegeven op de foto! Zorg ervoor dat u een koelrib op de driver plaatst. Let op de positie van de potmeter! ATTENTION! When you insert the stepper driver the wrong way you will destroy the driver! LET OP! Als de stepperdriver verkeerdom is gemonteerd zult u deze opblazen! Chapter: Mainboard 11

13 LCD Bracket & Mainboard Needed: LCD Bracket bag Insert the LCD in the bracket using the M3 x 20 screws and white nylon spacers. Fasten it with M3 nuts supplied Benodigd: LCD Bracket zakje Plaats de LCD unit in het bakje met de M3 x 20 bouten en witte nylon vulbussen. Vervolgens vast zetten met de M3 moeren On the back of the LCD you will find 2 connectors EXP1 and EXP2 Put the 2 flatcables supplied with the LCD in the connectors Op de achterkant van het LCD ziet u 2 connectoren zitten met EXP1 en EXP2. Plaats de 2 flatkabels meegeleverd in deze connectoren On the adapter you will find also EXP1 and EXP2. Can be hidden half behind the connector. Wire them up at the same port as the LCD unit Op de adapterplaat ziet u dezelfde EXP1 en EXP2. De tekst kan half verborgen zitten achter de connector. Plaats de kabel hier in dezelfde poorten als de LCD unit Connect the adapter to the Ramps board Plaats de adapter op het Ramps bord Mount the Arduino and Ramps on the frame with 2 x M4 x 8 and hammernuts behind the LCD bracket at the front of the printer Bevestig de Arduino en Ramps aan het frame met 2 x M4 x 8 en hamermoeren achter de LCD beugel aan de voorkant van de printer Chapter: LCD Bracket & Mainboard 12

14 Heatbed Needed: Heatbed bag Mount the heatbed with supplied spacers on the printer like the picture. Also mount the bottom plates with M4 x 8 and hammernuts on the printer Benodigd: Heatbed zakje Bevestig het heatbed met meegeleverde afstandsbussen op de printer zoals in de foto. Monteer ook de bodemplaten met M4 x 8 en hamermoeren op de printer There are 2 wires coming from the heatbed. The bigger wires will power the heatbed and need to be fixed in the screwterminal D8 like the diagram displays. The smaller wire is the thermistor and goes on T1 Er komen 2 draden uit het heatbed. De dikkere draad is de stroomtoevoer van het heatbed en moet D8 geschroefd worden zoals het aansluitschema aangeeft. Het kleinere draadje is de thermistor en gaat op positive T1 Chapter: Heatbed 13

15 Wire installation Guide de wires through the vertical profiles. One profile will be filled with alot of wires (we are using the X axle profile for this). The one tower will have a endstop wire and motorwire but also the cablemesh for the hotend. Other vertical profiles will only get a endstop wire inside. Haal de draden door de vertikale profielen. Eén profiel zal erg vol zitten met kabels (wij gebruiken hier normaal het profiel van de X as voor). Het ene profiel heeft een endstop draad, motordraad en een kabelboom voor de hotend. Andere profielen hebben alleen een endstop draad erdoorheen. Use the silicon tube for protection in the endings of the profiles like in the picture Gebruik de siliconeslang om de draad te beschermen aan de uiteindes van het profiel zoals in de foto Watch the direction of the wires and make sure to insert it at the right location. Diagram is on the next page! Let op de aansluiting van de kabels en zorg ervoor dat ze op de juiste positie aangesloten worden. Aansluitschema is op de volgende pagina! 17 Power Supply and Switch Insert the power switch in the mount. Press until it s completely against the mount. Mount it with M4 x 8 and 2 shims with hammernut to the frame Plaats de powerswitch in de bevestigingsplaat en druk hem stevig door. Vervolgens plaats de plaat met M4 x 8 en 2 ringen met hamermoer op het frame Place the power supply with the supplied mount to the frame. Use the M3 x 6 to fix the power supply on the mount and M4 x 8 with hamernut to the frame Plaats de voeding met de bijgeleverde beugel onder het frame. Gebruik de M3 x 6 om de voeding om de beugel te monteren en M4 x 8 met hamermoer om aan het frame te monteren Connect the power supply 12V+ and 12V- like the diagram before (2 pairs to be connected). Use the brown and blue wire to connect from the switch to the L and N on the powersupply. The green/yellow one should be on the ground of the powersupply Verbind de 12V+ en 12V- zoals op het aansluitschema aangegeven (2 paar aanluiten). Gebruik de bruine en blauwe draad van de schakelaar en verbind deze aan de L en N poort op de voeding. De geel/groene draad is de aarde van de voeding. Swiffelfeet Insert the 3 swiffelfeets in the bottom of the vertical profiles Your printer is almost ready to go! Draai de 3 stelvoeten in de bodem van de vertikale profielen De printer is bijna klaar om te printen! Chapter: Power Supply and Switch 16

19 Autocalibration (English) When you ve installed your software to use the printer (we prefer RepetierHost as it s a free very good program and uses Slic3r which is excellent at Spiral slicing and Cura which is excellent at all other slicing) you can use some commands (G-Code commands) to operate your printer. Below are some screenshots to help you setup RepetierHost. Printer Settings Chapter: Autocalibration (English) 18

21 After building your printer we recommend to calibrate the printer with autocalibration. In RepetierHost enable easymode so you can enter G-Codes in the manual mode and start it with G30 A wait a while till finished and save with M500. Click on the Easy Mode button in RepetierHost and go to the tab Manual Control Chapter: Autocalibration (English) 20

22 Or start SD card print on the printer (menu) and print the file in the folder Drawings\AutoCalibraion.gcode If printer is calibrated you can start printing. If the nozzle is too deep or too high after calibration please change the height with M666 L (search for height) and adjust it with M666 Hxxx.xx (make value bigger to get nozzle lower or other way around) and save with M500. To ensure the next autocalibration to be ok at once please adjust the modified amount of mm (or.1mm) to the probe offset with M666 L (look for Probe offset) and adjust it with M666 P-xx.xx (calculate the changed amount with the excisting amount of the P value). Use M500 to save this to the EEPROM.. On the SD card you will find software settings you can import into Cura Engine or Slic3r engine at RepetierHost. Chapter: Autocalibration (English) 21

23 Some G-Codes that can be used: G28 = Home All Axis G29 = Auto Bed Leveling (can be used in the Start G-Code but will slow down the start process) G30 = Make a Probe action and write the value in the LOG of the software G30 A = Start Auto Calibration Procedure (always end with M500 to save it) M500 = Save Latest made settings to EEProm M666 L = List all settings made by auto calibration M666 H200 = Set Height of hotend to bed to 200mm (use M500 after it to save it) M666 P-3.1 = Set the probe offset (only Z axis offset can be set) to -3.1mm (use M500 after it to save it) M666 X-0.2 = Set the X Tower Endstop Offset to -0.2mm, Can be done with Y and Z also. (M500 to save) M302 = Put the printer in a mode to accept extruder movement without being on high temperature. Watch out not to destroy your filament when you reach the nozzle. M104 S80 = Set Bed temperature to 80 degrees celcius M140 S80 = Wait for the Bed to reach 80 degrees celcius M109 S240 = Set Nozzle temperature to 240 degrees celcius M190 S240 = Wait for the Nozzle to reach 240 degrees celcius Chapter: Autocalibration (English) 22
