1 PRESS RELEASE K_nstvl presenteert: PLAYTIME Amsterdam, 5 mei For English scroll down K_nstvl presenteert: PLAYTIME Van 20 tot en met 22 mei vindt het 11 e K_nstvl festival plaats in de SSBA Salon van de Stadsschouwburg Amsterdam. Centraal binnen PLAYTIME staat de elastische tentoonstelling, een 12-uur durende sequentie van presentaties van 23 experimentele projectruimtes uit binnen- en buitenland. K_nstvl nodigde deze initiatieven uit om binnen de elastische tentoonstelling, die zich als een leporello aan het publiek ontvouwt, te experimenten met tijdelijkheid en zichtbaarheid. De projectruimtes die deelnemen aan PLAYTIME zijn zeer divers. Zij functioneren binnen verschillende contexten en kennen verschillende soorten organisatievormen. Ze manifesteren zich in de white cube, in de openbare ruimte, zijn nomadisch of leiden een digitaal bestaan. Wat ze gemeen hebben is een onafhankelijke en dynamische houding. Ze bieden opkomende kunstenaars een podium en fungeren als katalysator

2 voor vernieuwingen. Elk van deze initiatieven zal zich in de SSBA Salon op eigen wijze het moment toe-eigenen en de grenzen opzoeken van de ruimte waarbinnen de ontmoeting tussen publiek, kunst, kunstenaar en projectruimte kan plaatsvinden. De elastische tentoonstelling wordt geflankeerd door een uitgebreid driedaags programma van speeddates, (dans en performance) workshops, lezingen en discussies. Online radio Ja Ja Ja Nee Nee Nee maakt radio op locatie en er is een boekenzaak met publicaties van projectruimtes, kleine boekwinkels en uitgeverijen. PLAYTIME sluit af met How To Work With Temporality op maandag 22 mei. Tijdens dit seminar bespreken drie keynote speakers samen met deelnemende projectruimtes strategieën rondom zichtbaarheid en thema s als precariteit en tijdelijkheid. Tijdens de beurs presenteert K_nstvl een gespecialiseerde boekwinkel, The Table of Contents, op de derde verdieping van Kunsthal Koper. Het brengt projectruimtes en kunst(enaars)initiatieven uit binnen- en buitenland samen, maakt ze zichtbaarder, en zwengelt samenwerking en kennisuitwisseling aan. K_nstvl organiseert festivals, lezingen, debatten, geeft brochures uit en werkt aan een digitale database met Nederlandse initiatieven en presentatie-instellingen. De leiding is in handen van Hendrik-Jan Hunneman, Noor Mertens en Marjolein van de Ven. This year the festival centers around the elastic exhibition, a 12-hour sequence of presentations by 23 experimental project spaces from the Netherlands and abroad. K_nstvl invited these initiatives to experiment with temporality and visibility within the elastic exhibition, which unfolds for the

4 audience like a leporello. The participating project spaces in PLAYTIME are very diverse. They function within different contexts and modes of organization, manifest themselves in the white cube and in public space, lead a nomadic existence or have an online presence only. What they have in common is an independent and dynamic way of working. They offer emerging artists a platform and act as catalysts for innovation. Each of these initiatives will present itself in its own unique way, stretching the boundaries of the space in which encounters between audience, art, artist and project spaces can take place. The elastic exhibition encompasses a three-day program including speeddates, (dance and performance) workshops, lectures and debates. Online radio station Ja Ja Ja Nee Nee Nee will broadcast live from the venue and there will be a bookstore carrying publications by project spaces, small bookshops and publishers. On Monday 22, PLAYTIME finishes with How To Work With Temporality. During this seminar, three keynote speakers, joined by participating art initiatives, will discuss strategies for visibility and reflect upon themes such as precaritiy and temporality.
