2 Modules in Bronchoscopy School of Respirology 9-11 October 2013 Geachte collega, De School of Respirology heeft inmiddels een jarenlange traditie in hands-on cursussen op het gebied van bronchoscopy en airway management. In 2013 bieden wij de geheel nieuwe cursus Modules in Bronchoscopy aan. Deze internationale bronchoscopiecursus is tot stand gekomen in samenwerking met onze collega s van het Royal Brompton Hospital in London. Binnen dit samenwerkingsverband (de Bronchoscopy Foundation) streven wij naar topkwaliteit, wat tot uiting komt in de indrukwekkende lijst van Nederlandse en buitenlandse tutoren. De cursus is bedoeld voor longartsen en longartsen in opleiding en bestaat uit drie modules. Het begint met basic bronchoscopy op dag 1. Hier worden onderwerpen zoals anatomie van de luchtwegen, TBNA en management van complicaties behandeld. Dag 2 is gereserveerd voor meer geavanceerde diagnostische technieken zoals EBUS, autofluorescentie en navigatie. Tenslotte wordt op de derde dag aandacht besteed and therapeutische bronchoscopie zoals het plaatsen van klepjes, debulken van tumoren en het plaatsen van stents. U kunt zich inschrijven voor de gehele cursus, maar ook één of twee dagen naar keuze. Er is veel tijd gereserveerd voor hands-on sessies en deelnemers krijgen de kans om met bronchoscopen van verschillende merken te werken. Wij hopen u te kunnen verwelkomen in oktober. Tevens is er een verpleegkundige cursus die parallel loopt met module 2. In deze cursus is er aandacht voor de verpleegkundig technische kant van de procedure en kan dit ook tijdens de hands-on sessies geoefend worden ism de bronchoscopisten. 3 DAY ONE - Basic bronchoscopy - Wednesday 9 October Aim: this module is intended for pulmonologists in training and pulmonologists with limited experience in bronchoscopy. During the course of the day participants are made aware of important background issues such as the technical aspects of the equipment, hygiene/ disinfection and team performance. In addition the attendants will learn to master the skills necessary for performing diagnostic bronchoscopy to its full extent in the daily patient care Introduction - Dr. J. 4 DAY TWO - Advanced Diagnostic Bronchoscopy - Thursday 10 October Aim: this advanced module is intended for doctors with adequate basic bronchoscopy skills who are ready to take it to the next level. During this day the participants are made aware of important aspects of the clinical context and how they can tailor the conditions and team performance in order to maximize the impact of diagnostic procedures. The participants can practice how to adequately prepare and perform a diagnostic procedure with special attention to patient safety and tissue handling Introduction Clinical context: why obtain tissue? - Prof. E. 5 DAY TWO - Nurse Hands-On Bronchoscopy Course - Thursday 10 October Aim: this module is intended to endoscopic nurses who want to update their skills. Experts in the field will lecture about the latest developments in interventional pulmonology. During the course of the day participants are made aware of important background issues such as the technical aspects of the equipment, hygiene/disinfection and team performance. In addition the attendants will learn to master the skills necessary for performing diagnostic bronchoscopy to its full extent in the daily patient care. The participants can practice how to adequately prepare and perform a diagnostic procedure with special attention to patient safety and tissue handling Introduction Why obtain tissue, indications for EBUS Anatomy and staging lungcancer - Dr. T. 6 DAY THREE - Therapeutic Bronchoscopy - Friday 11 October Aim: this module is intended to introduce experienced bronchoscopists to interventional bronchoscopy and for interventional bronchoscopists who want to update their skills. Experts in the field will lecture about the latest developments in interventional pulmonology. Techniques such as rigid bronchoscopy, bronchoscopic lung volume reduction and airway stenting will be explained.
