3 Wat is APRS? APRS staat voor Automatic Packet Reporting System (wordt( ook veel Automatic Position Reporting System genoemd.) APRS werd ontwikkeld in de vroege 1990's door Bob Bruninga, WB4APR, voor digitale communicatie en tracking van mobile GPS uitgeruste stations.gebruik makende van Amateur twee-weg weg radio.

4 Bob Bruninga vader van APRS Zijn eerste connectionloos protocol draaide op een VIC-20 programma in 1984 om de position en status van de paarden in een cross country wedstrijd voor AMRAD weer te geven Eén van de eerste applicaties voor APRS tijdens zijn job als leraar aan het Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD. was om de Academy boten te tracken tijdens de zomer cruises langs de Atlantische kust (US).

7 Verschil met gewone Packet APRS is een combinatie van Packet radio met GPS. radio amateurs kunnen automatisch de posities van radio stations en andere voorwerpen weergeven op een landkaarten op een PC. Het is een communicatie protocol voor het verspreiden van Live data naar iedereen in een netwerk in real time. Gebruikt Generieke digipeating zodat er geen kennis van de netwerk topologie vereist is.

10 Gebruikte termen TAPR : Tucson Amateur Packet Radio AGWPE : De Packet Engine van SV2AGW.Deze maakt van de soundkaart en TNC Real time:een situatie waarin gegevens worden verwerkt zodra ze beschikbaar komen. Digipeater:Een station dat in principe alle APRS frames her- uitzendt.een digipeater is 24 uur in de lucht.veelal een onbemand station. Relay-digi digi:een basisstation dat APRS frames met RELAY in het unproto path opnieuw uitzendt (digipeat). Connection Oriented netwerk:een netwerk waar vooraf gaande aan het uitwisselen van gegevens eerst een connectie wordt gemaakt.(gewone packet). UI : Unnumbered Information:Een AX25 frame dat verstuurd kan worden zonder dat eerst een connectie wordt gemaakt.er wordt geen ontvangstbevestiging gestuurd voor een UI frame.

11 Wat is APRS nu eigenlijk? Het APRS Systeem werd ontwikkeld om locale, digitale en grafische informatie uit wisselen tussen deelnemers in een event. Dit is niet enkel tracking en positie monitoring, maar ook status, berichten, bulletins en dit alles zonder packet radio connecties Typische data: Posites van alle stations en objecten Status van alle stations Berichten, Bulletins en aankondigingen Weer stations:aprs geeft weerrapporten door van weerstations.data a zoals luchtvochtigheid,temperatuur,regenval,luchtdruk,windsnelheid en richting. ARDF richtingsbepaling en signaal sterkte Typische applicaties zijn: Marathons, wedsrijden, events en publieke service Search and rescue Communicatie,tracking en one-line s Mobile-to to-mobile berichten sturen (Globaal) Weergegevens (WX stations), data uitwisseling en weergave

13 Meer APRS. APRS bestaat uit wereldwijd teresterieel packet radio netwerk. Met bijn users wereldwijd. Dit netwerk werkt via RELAISSTATIONS om de Km, digipeaters. genoemd.en wereldwijd via IGates over het internet. APRS is ook mogelijk via sommige Amateur Satellieten. Wordt ook gebruikt om telemetrie gegevens van weer stations voor de Nationale Weer Service (NWS) (US)( APRS heeft de capaceit om snel telemetrie gegevens door te sturen zonder het Internet.

14 Wat heeft men nodig? APRS is ontwikkeld om bestaande packet radio hardware te gebruiken,dus heeft men slechts 3 toestellen nodig. Een transmitter/receiver (Transceiver), Een packet terminal node controller (TNC). Optioneeel een Global Positioning System (GPS),

15 Basis Equipment - Radio EenVHF Amateur Radio Transceiver op Mhz. (EU). Moet een transceiver zijn omdat APRS een collision detection system gebruikt om te weten of er data mag verzonden worden (DCD). Het bereik van het station hangt af van de power/antenne en het terrein.

16 Basis Equipment - GPS Een standaard GPS (Global Positioning System) toestel. Gebruikt 24 LEO satellieten om iemand zijn specifieke geografische locatie. GPS data geeft ook grond snelheid en hoogte. Huidige nauwkeuringheid ong. 10m.

17 Basis Equipment - TNC Een TNC is een radio (of( RF ) modem. De TNC connecteert de transceiver aan een GPS en converteert de data ervan in het AX.25 Packet protocol. TinyTracs zijn simpele Transmit Only stand alone APRS TNCs

27 PC Soundcard Methode Gebruik een PC sound card om packet signalen te verzenden/ontvangen via radio Geen TNC Nodig. Simpele interface om de PC galvanisch te scheiden van de transceiver (zoals bij PSK31) AGWPE heeft een TCP/IP interface met andere programma s (remote connections) en een WEB interface. 36 Unproto Path Het uproto path is de adressering binnen APRS Bv.: ON6UB>APRS,WIDE,TRACE3-3 Callsign van de APRS gebruiker : ON6UB : To call (bestemmeling) : APRS :geeft aan waar het packet moet naartoe gezonden worden.verschillende mogelijkheden: APU25 : duidt aan welke software gebruikt wordt :Uiview 2.5 JOTA : packet bestemd voor Jota stations alleen Het unproto pad: WIDE,TRACE3-3 Een pad is generiek d.w.z. dat er geen calls in staan Fout : ON6UB>APRS,ON4UB,ON5HL : frames worden enkel door ON4UB en ON5HL verzonden Juist : ON6UB>APRS,TRACE3-3 3 : frames kunnen door alle stations in het bereik uitgezonden worden. 37 RELAY : ALIASSEN Speciaal voor mobiele stations Bedoeling : elk basisstation zendt RELAY packets opnieuw uit. WIDEN-n n : Opdracht voor Digipeater om het APRS frame opnieuw uit te zenden. N-n n : een cijfer van N: antal keer dat het frame moet gedigipeat worden. n:aantal keer dat het al gedigipeat werd.als n=0 wordt het niet meer gedigipeat. Bv. 39 Het Nieuw-N Paradigme 2005 APRS Generic is reeds veel uitgebreid in 13 jaar en de aanwezigheid van nog oude data formaten en procedures waren zwaar belastend voor het netwerk en zorgden ervoor dat het onberekenbaar en inefficiënt was vooral in drukke gebeiden. In 2005 werd voorgesteld de aliassen RELAY & WIDE niet meer te gebruikenen het gehele APRS systeem te focussen op enkel het WIDEn-N type van generieke pad met kleine waarden van n.

41 Symbolen en SSID s Een symbool is een code die in het APRS frame wordt meegezonden. Hiermee kan de afzender bepalen wat voor icoon bij zijn positie op de kaart komt. SSID: SSID:Een ssid of Secundaire Station Identifier wordt oa. Gebruikt om stations van elkaar te onderscheiden,bv. Een basisstation en een mobie station. bv. 42 Baken interval Geeft aan hoe vaak je de positie van je station bekend maakt in APRS netwerk. Voor mobiele stations kan smart beaconing gebruikt worden; Als een mobiel station rijdt wordt er na het normale interval een n baken verstuurd.staat deze stil,dan wordt het interval vergroot. Als het mobiele stion verandert van rijrichting of het slaat af op een kruispunt.op dat moment wordt ook een baken verstuurd. De volgende intervallen wordt aanbevolen; Basis station : 30 min Mobiel station: 2 à 3 min Weerstation (WX) : 15 min Objecten : 30 min
