Ze zijn op dit moment relatief duur. Omdat in bepaalde omstandigheden het gezondheidsvoordeel bij het gebruik van zo'n middel groot is t.o.v. de kosten zijn criteria opgesteld waaraan patiënten moeten voldoen alvorens vergoeding door het SZF wordt gehonoreerd. De criteria zijn bij alle artsen bekend. Voor BEG middelen moet de volgende procedure gevolgd worden: 1. De voorschrijvende specialist of de huisarts als hij/zij genoeg informatie van de specialist heeft, vult een 'aanvraag tot ontheffing' van het desbetreffende middel voor u in. 2. U levert dit formulier in bij de Medische Dienst van het SZF. 3. De aanvraag wordt beoordeeld door de artsen van de Medische Dienst. De artsen toetsen of u voldoet aan de criteria voor vergoeding, die opgesteld zijn door de Nationale Geneesmiddelen Klapper commissie van het Ministerie van Volksgezondheid. 4. Als u voldoet aan de criteria, wordt de aanvraag gehonoreerd voor een bepaalde periode. 5. Als de aanvraag gehonoreerd wordt, krijgt u 2 exemplaren van de aanvraag; voor de apotheek en voor uzelf. 6. Met het exemplaar voor de apotheek kunt u het middel bij de desbetreffende apotheek verkrijgen op kosten van het SZF.
