Algemene conclusie: grote populariteit van sociale netwerken en veranderingen in het gebruikersgedrag vormen de basis voor bredere aanvalsstrategieen op gebruikers en organisaties ten einde informatie te verkrijgen! Gartner voorspelt dat 75% van organisaties en Enterprises in de komende (2) jaren hiermee zullen worden geconfronteerd/geinfecteerd. Daartoe behoren gecombineerde bedreigingen, versnelde omlooptijden van malware en manipulatie van zoekmachines. Malware: naar schatting toegenomen met 11 miljoen varianten in het tijdvak 2008 tot Levensduur malware: uur en uur. Cybercriminelen proberen hiermee de toegenomen effectiviteit van URL-filters te snel af te zijn. Sociale netwerken: communicatie-netwerken als Hyves en Facebook vormen een 25% van de top-10 URL categorieen voor Webmail is minder populair: 2008: 5e plaats en 2009: 9e plaats. Misbruikt gebruikersvertrouwen: namaak anti-virussoftware maakt misbruik van het vertrouwen wat mensen stellen in zoekmachines. De bekende en veel toegepaste zgn. Drive-by aanvallen voor gebaseerd op techniek! Malware op onverwachte plekken: on-line opslag (toename 200%) en downloadsites Geavanceerde spyware: Real-time analyse is cruciaal! Het veranderende landschap van bedreigingen vraagt om nieuwe, hybride verdedigingsmechanismen. Deze combineren de kracht van traditionele appararatuur voor veilige internettoegang met webgebaseerde informatiesystemen. Dat zorgt voor real-time analyse en beoordelingen en kan ook uitgebreid worden naar gebruikers op afstand (ook thuis). 7
