4 AFSHUNTENDE REGELAAR AFSNOEP voor generatoren met kompound bekrachtiging systeem VOORWAARDEN VOOR INBEDRIJFSTELLING Inbouw en in bedrijf name van dit product mag slechts geschieden door gekwalificeerde personen met elektrotechnische kennis! Dit product is bedoeld om ingebouwd te worden in een afgesloten machine of schakelkast, waardoor elke vorm van aanrakingsgevaar voor personen is uitgesloten. Raak de print tijdens bedrijf nooit aan. De print voert hoge spanning!! Gebruik tijdens het meten van spanningen of stromen niet geaarde meetinstrumenten. EMRI bv wijst erop dat deze component bestemd is als onderdeel te worden ingebouwd of samengebouwd in een installatie of systeem waarop volgende richtlijnen van toepassing zijn : 89/336 EEG (EMC richtlijn) 72/23 EEG (laagspanningsrichtlijn) Algemeen De afshuntende regelaar AFSNOEP kan gebruikt worden op synchrone kompound generatoren. Bij deze generatoren wordt de veldspanning wordt opgebouwd m.b.v. spoelen en stroomtransformatoren. De regelaar shunt een gedeelte van de door dit systeem opgewekt en gelijkgerichte opwek energie af, en regelt op deze manier de klemspanning van de generator. Principe. De opwek of veldspanning wordt bij kompound generatoren bepaald door de instelling (luchtspleet en aftakking) van de smoorspoelen en stroomtransformatoren. Van invloed op de uiteindelijke bekrachtiging waarde zijn ook de frequentie en de cosinus phi van de gevraagde stroom. Om toch een nauwkeurige spanningsregeling te verkrijgen waarmee ook parallelbedrijf met andere (niet gelijke) generatoren mogelijk is, moet een spanningsregelaar worden toegepast. Om dit mogelijk te maken moet de generatorspanning over het gehele belasting gebied ca. 110 % van de nominale spanning zijn. De regelaar is nu in staat om het teveel aan bekrachtiging af te shunten en de spanning te regelen. Een optionele serie weerstand kan worden gebruikt om de afshunt stroom te begrenzen of de stabiliteit te vergroten. De weerstand moet kleiner zijn dan 1 Ohm en geschikt de afshunt stroom. Specificaties Maximum shunt current AFSNOEP50 : 50 A ( andere waarden op aanvraag leverbaar) Aansluitspanning : 380_440 Vac (terminals U,V,W, 0), 50/60Hz.max. 480 Volt Afmetingen : 200 x 200 x 115 mm ( L x B x H ) De printplaat is met een epoxy coating beschermd tegen vuil en trillingen Instelling De regelaar heeft een aansluiting voor een externe spanningsinstelling. De spanning kan ook op de print zelf afgeregeld worden. Verder heeft de regelaar nog een mogelijkheid om de stabiliteit te verstellen. Voor het parallelbedrijf met andere generatoren is een droop kit nodig. De Afsnoepregelaar is leverbaar als losse print en als complete afshuntende regelaar 50 Amp. Afshunt stroom. Afwijkende waarden zijn op aanvraag leverbaar. Parallel bedrijf Parallelbedrijf met andere generatoren met elektronische spanningsregeling en spanning droop is mogelijk met behulp van een droop kit. De droop kit wordt aangesloten volgens het aansluitschema. De droop of blindstroom compensatie stroom verdeling geschiedt met de potmeter D. Afregeling De potmeter V op de printplaat is voor spanningsinstelling. Voor externe spanningsinstelling kan op de klemmen S en T een potmeter worden aangesloten. Als geen externe potmeter gebruikt wordt, moeten de klemmen S en T worden doorverbonden. De potmeter P en I zijn voor stabiliteit afregeling, en kunnen indien nodig versteld worden. De potmeter D is voor het inregelen van de droop of de reactieve lastverdeling tijdens parallelbedrijf. Version : page 4 of 10

6 VOLTAGE REGULATOR AFSNOEP for generators with compounding excitation systems CONDITIONS FOR INSTALLATION and COMMISSIONING Mounting and commissioning of this product may only be done by qualified people with knowledge of electrical machines! This product is meant to be build in in a closed cabinet or machine, so that any contact with persons is excluded. Do not touch the printed cardboard during operation. High Voltage!Only use isolated measuring instruments. Emri BV. points out that this product is meant to be assembled as a component in a system or installation on which the following standards take effect : 89/336 EEG (EMC guidelines) 72/23 EEG (Low voltage guidelines) General The regulator type AFSNOEP consists of a printed cardboard, which is suitable for working with a separate mounted controlled rectifier. The regulator is in principle fit to be used with any generator, which has a excitation system with an anti parallel silicon rectifier. The printed cardboard may be use to control a scr of any size. We deliver the avr normally as an AFSNOEP50. This standard type consists of a regulator (printed cardboard), controlled rectifier, droop potentiometer and connection terminals all mounted together. On request every combination is deliverable. Principle Afsnoep avr s are used on compound generators, from which the excitation value s are build from choke and compound transformers, who s voltage are added and rectified for the exciter. The value of the excitation is also determined by the value of the choke s (air gaps) the value of the compound transformers (air gap / tap) and shunt resistors. To achieve accurate measuring and enable proper parallel operation with other (un equal) generators, an electronic voltage regulator can be applied. To make application of an avr and voltage control possible, the generators voltage should be about 110 % of its nominal voltage. The avr derivates a piece of the over excitation from the compound system and adjusts the voltage to the adjusted value. A series resistor can be added to limit the shunting current or to improve stability. The resistor should be less than 1 Ohm and be able to handle the shunting current. Specifications Maximum input current AFSNOEP50 : 50 A non standard types as specified on the regulator. Generator voltage : 380_440 Vac (terminals U,V,W, 0), 50/60Hz. max. 480 Volt Dimensions standard regulator : 200x200x115 mm (LxWxH) The printed cardboard is protected against vibrations and moisture by an epoxy coating. For parallel operation with other generators a droopkit is available. Installation A complete mounted regulator build on a isolated ground plate or cooling device. If placed in a closed cabinet, there must be sufficient ventilation, because of the produced heat. The connection is according to the following diagrams. For parallel operation an additional droop kit is available. The terminals S and T are for an external potmeter for voltage adjustment. If not connected, a jumper must be placed from S to T. Adjustment The potmeter V is for adjusting the generator voltage. This potmeter is factory adjusted to 230 V between the terminals U and 0, with S and T connected. The minimal- and maximal voltage are limited to the generators excitation system (compound system). The potmeters P and I are for the adjustment of the voltage stability (resp. P-action and I-action). Before starting up these potmeters are in centre position. Instability is recognized by a continuous varying of the generator voltage or the current Version : page 6 of 10

7 through the SCR. In general the P must be turned as far clockwise as possible, without starting the voltage to vary. If instability occurs the P must be turned just so far counter clockwise, until the instability disappears. Turning too far counter clockwise will result in a poor, weak regulating behaviour. The potmeter I is to optimise the regulating behaviour during load changes. It changes the regulating speed. Normally the adjustment is not critical. Sometimes alternating adjustment of both potmeters is necessary. Adjusting I will slightly influence the P adjustment. The potentiometer D is for the reactive current adjustment or voltage droop. Parallel operation Parallel operation is possible, when using our droopkit. This kit provides a load depending voltage droop. Thus the generator may operate in parallel with other generators which use the same method. 9 ADJUSTINGPROCEDURE FOR PARALLELOPERATION WITH VOLTAGEDROOP Step 1 Adjust the droop potmeters to middle position. Adjust the regulators of all generators in single operation. Take care for good regulation behaviour at all possible load conditions. Step 2 Adjust the generator voltage of all generators to exactly the same value at no-load. This must be done in single operation. The voltage should preferably be measured with the same instrument at all generators. Step 3 Switch generators parallel and adjust the load (in kw) with the driving engine to the same value for all generators. If the generators are not equal sized, the load must be divided corresponding to ratio. After this the generator current must be equal (or divided to ratio) at all load conditions. When this is not the case it may be adjusted with the droop potmeter. In no case it may be adjusted with the potmeters for voltage adjustment. Note The droop kit makes the generator voltage dependant of the load current and the power factor. The generator voltage should decrease at increasing load with an inductive power factor less or equal then one. If it is the other way around, the secondary connections of the droop transformer should be changed. Troubleshooting during commissioning parallel operation S Parallel operation does no work properly - connections of the voltage regulator and the droop transformer according the correct diagram - direction of the droop transformer - clockwise rotation of the generators main voltage - the current through the droop transformer. The current must as much as possible of the phase current. - voltages of the generators in no load conditions. These voltages must be equal - the stability of the engines and the load sharing of the engines Troubleshooting during commissioning -Generator does not give voltage at all - compound system of the generator - rotating speed of the generator - windings of the generator for short circuits to earth on fields, exciters, rotor and stator - windings of the generator for short circuits between phases - windings of the generator for short circuits on fields, exciters, rotor and stator - lose connections of fields, exciters, rotor and stator - rectifiers on the rotor if present, or from compound systems - load which is already switched on - excite the generator according the field flash diagram -Generator voltage remains low and is not adjustable S connections of the avr S Air gap from the choke Version : page 9 of 10
