Stichtingg Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek Commerciële Communicatie (SWOCC) werdd in 1995 opgericht door Giep Franzen en Jan van Cuilenburg en is gelieerd aann de afdeling Communicatiewetenschap van de Universiteit van Amsterdam. SWOCCC ziet het als haar missie om kennis over de rol van merken in het consumentengedragg en de werking van commerciële communicatie (verder) te vergroten.. SWOCC verricht daartoe wetenschappelijk onderzoek, brengt publicaties uitt en organiseert lezingen over relevante ontwikkelingen en trends. SWOCC werktt ten behoeve van haar begunstigers. Op dit moment telt SWOCC ruim honderdd begunstigers, waaronder reclamebureaus, marktonderzoekbureaus, adverteerders,, uitgevers en belangenbehartigende verenigingen. SWOCCC verricht geen onderzoek voor individuele opdrachtgevers, wel kunnen ondernemingenn onderzoeksprojecten adopteren. Directeurr van SWOCC is dr. Edith Smit. Tot de huidige onderzoeksstaf van SWOCC behoren:: drs. Emilie van den Berge, drs. Kim Cramer, Anna Giling, drs. Sheila de Lange,, drs. Angela van der Lee, dr. Joke Oppenhuisen, dr. Bas van den Putte en drs.. Tijs Timmerman. Het bestuur van SWOCC bestaat uit prof. dr. Jan van Cuilenburg,, prof. Giep Franzen en prof. dr. Peter Neijens.
