6 Foreword This document (pren :2006) has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 164 Water supply, the secretariat of which is held by AFNOR. This document is currently submitted to the second CEN enquiry. This document has been prepared under a mandate given to CEN by the European Commission and the European Free Trade Association, and supports essential requirements of EU Directive(s). However, this version does not address characteristics affecting suitability for contact with water for human consumption according to the mandate, see introduction below. 7 Introduction Flexible hose assemblies are dual purpose products, in so far as they are used for both potable and nonpotable water transportation. Although they may be perfectly acceptable for the transportation of potable water, this is not possible to demonstrate under the European Acceptance Scheme (EAS) because at the date of preparation of this Document the EAS has not been fully developed with all the associated test methods. Other similar products which nevertheless are not manufactured as described in the standard and which have different conditions of working and of use are covered by special standard, see bibliography The main differences between Parts 1 and 2 are the follows NOTE Clauses closed to the central axis (or missing in the list ) are equivalent or the same (editorially different) Clauses closed to the opposite side (and in italics) are different (technically), or are not considered in one part (see ---) 5

9 1 Scope This document in two parts, specifies the requirements and test methods in respect to materials, dimensions, function and Factory Production Control for flexible hose assemblies or semi flexible hose assemblies hose assemblies. The standard is applicable to flexible or semi flexible hose assemblies intended to be used in water systems (according EN 806-2) to connect sanitary tap ware, heaters or similar appliances. Part 1 considers flexible hose assemblies, Part 2 considers semi flexible hose assemblies, both designed for use with water with a maximum static pressure of 10 bar and a temperature of maximum 90 C (see 3.1 definition). Compliance of a product with the present standard does not confer a presumption of fitness of the product for the transport of water intended for human consumption within the meaning of the Directive 89/106/EEC. However, until the operation of the envisaged European Acceptance Scheme for construction products in contact with water intended for human consumption and the revision of the present standard, products complying with the present standard can be used for the transport of water intended for human consumption if they comply with the relevant national, regional or local regulatory provisions applicable in the place of use. 2 Normative references This European Standard incorporates, by dated or undated reference, provisions from other publications.
