1 School year NEWSLETTER 22 CONTENT Message from the principal Reminder vaccination documents Education fair HSL Spring concert Advisory council Important dates ATTACHMENTS Dear parents, Friday 2 February Next week the optional parent teacher meetings for groups 1 thru 7 will take place. Today the groups 3 thru 7 parents will receive the total CITO test score results of the full primary school period. In these data you may find additional information about the interpretation of the CITO graphs and CITO test results and information about CITO standards. In case there are remarkable developments or unclarities in your child s development, the group teacher will invite you to a meeting. The group teachers sent out the invitations to these meetings to the pertaining parents last week. On Saturday 10 March the HSL and LanguageOne are once more setting up an Education Fair. There are several workshops that will provide information about returning to the primary and secondary curriculum in the Netherlands. More information about the fair is to be found further in this newsletter. The link provided enables you to sign up for the various workshops. We would like to kindly remind you that parking on Swiss View is not allowed. Parents are only permitted to drop off and pick up children here. We also urge parents not to use the HSL parking area as drop off zone until 8.20 am. We have been seeing an increase in this practice, which

2 sometimes leads to buses being blocked. Please drop off or pick up your children in the designated drop off/pick up zones only. With kind regards, Meino Meines HSL Principal Students enrolled at a school in Singapore are legally required to have their Measles and Diphtheria vaccinations in order. These vaccinations are not only part of the Dutch vaccination program, but of most international vaccination programs as well. We would like to ask all parents to supply us with documented proof that your children have received the Measles/Diphtheria vaccinations by sending an to frontdesk@hollandseschool.org (a copy of the vaccination card/yellow book/health booklet suffices). 2

3 WERELDWIJD THUIS IN NEDERLANDSTALIG ONDERWIJS Betreft: Uitnodiging Onderwijsmarkt op 10 maart 2018 Beste ouders en leerlingen, Keert u binnenkort terug naar Nederland of België? Wat betekent dit dan voor het Nederlands onderwijs van uw kind(eren)? Al uw vragen over Nederlands vervolgonderwijs kunt u stellen op de onderwijsmarkt aan een team van onderwijs- en ervaringsdeskundigen. Graag nodigen wij u uit voor de Onderwijsmarkt van LanguageOne en de Hollandse School Limited. De onderwijsmarkt vindt plaats op zaterdag 10 maart 2018 van uur op de Hollandse School Limited, Bukit Tinggi Road 65, Singapore. De onderwijsmarkt biedt informatie over de instroom naar basis, voortgezet en hoger onderwijs in Nederland en België. Daarnaast is er gelegenheid om ervaringen uit te wisselen en kennis te delen. Alle ouders en ook de leerlingen uit het VO en de bovenbouw van het PO zijn van harte welkom op deze onderwijsmarkt. De volgende presentaties worden door gastsprekers verzorgd: 1. Doorstroom binnen het basisonderwijs. De waarde van het onderwijskundig rapport en de citorapportage, door Eefje Slegers, Intern Begeleider op de Hollandse School Limited. 2. De aansluiting van PO/VO naar het Nederlands onderwijssysteem in het voortgezet onderwijs en internationale onderwijsmogelijkheden in Nederland, door Inge Jansen, docente Nederlands op de German European School/ LanguageOne en Stan van Laarhoven, leerkracht op de Hollandse School Limited. 3. De doorstroom van het VO naar tertiair onderwijs, door Saar de Beaufort, docente Nederlands op de German European School/ LanguageOne. 4. Onderwijs in België, door Bie van Wyngene, leerkracht bij LanguageOne. 5. IB-diploma en vervolgstudies in Nederland. Samenstelling van het vakkenpakket en keuzemogelijkheden voor vervolgstudies in Nederland door Thomas Walton, docent Engels en study counselor op de German European School. 6. Tweetalig Voortgezet Onderwijs in Nederland, door Chris Samsom, locatieleider LanguageOne Singapore. Wij kijken ernaar uit u te ontmoeten op de onderwijsmarkt. 4 GREAT NEWS! Don t miss this opportunity as HSL will be organizing its first musical night this coming March. For this special event we are looking for all talented students (even with their family members) who can play any kind of instruments. You are most welcome to participate and perform in this concert! Performance Category: solo, duet or group. Date: 22nd March 2018 (Thursday) Venue: HSL School Field Time: 7pm 8pm Dress code: Smart / Causal All participants who are interested in performing for this event can sign up with Miss Brenda latest by 7th March * Please note that only keyboards are provided by the school for the instrument performance, any other instruments, children will have to bring themselves. Next Friday 9 February the Advisory council will be at school prior to the assembly. We would love to be in touch with parents to find out more about their concerns. If you have any questions, remarks or suggestions please let us know while having a cup of coffee and a cookie with us. We will also be there after the assembly.
