1 CFO Survey Europa Eerste kwartaal 2010 Belangrijkste resultaten CFO Survey Europe: - 43,6% van de CFO s is optimistischer over de economie van zijn land, in vergelijking met voorgaand kwartaal, 18,4% minder optimistisch. Vorig kwartaal was nog 44,3% van de CFOs optimistischer en het kwartaal daarvoor 51,5%. Het optimisme onder Europese CFOs vlakt af. In de VS is 47,3% van de CFO s optimistischer, in Azië zelfs 77,3%. Europa en de VS blijven hierin dus achter. - Op een schaal van 0 tot 100 is het gemiddelde optimisme cijfer voor Europese CFOs 54,6 voor de VS is dit 55,5 en voor Azië 68, ,9% van de CFO s is optimistischer over de financiële toekomst van zijn eigen bedrijf, in vergelijking tot voorgaand kwartaal, 21,5% negatiever. Vorig kwartaal was 47,5% van de CFOs optimistischer, versus 14,9% pessimistischer. Zowel het optimisme als het pessimisme van CFOs m.b.t. het eigen bedrijf is dus wat toegenomen. - Op een schaal van 0 tot 100 is het gemiddelde optimisme cijfer voor het eigen bedrijf voor Europese CFOs 63,3 voor de VS 65,2 en voor Azië 70. CFOs zijn optimistischer over de financiële toekomst van hun eigen bedrijf, dan over de economie van hun land. Opvallend is wel dat 21,5% van de CFOs pessimistischer is over de financiële toekomst van het eigen bedrijf in vergelijking met het vorige kwartaal. - Top drie externe zorgen van CFOs zijn: o Consumptieve vraag o Druk op prijzen o Binnenlandse concurrentie - Top drie interne zorgen van CFOs zijn: o Vasthouden van (winst)marges o Onvoorspelbaarheid van de resultaten o Het beheren van het werkkapitaal - Het aantrekken en vasthouden van gekwalificeerd personeel wordt weer belangrijker voor CFOs. - Bedrijven verwachten, in vergelijking tot de afgelopen 12 maanden 14,4% meer winst te maken, 5,4% meer investeringen te doen en 2% meer dividend uit te keren. Het gemiddeld aantal vaste medewerkers daalt met 2,3% en het aantal tijdelijke krachten met 1,2%. Een kwartaal geleden verwachtten CFOs nog dat het gemiddeld aantal vaste medewerkers met 4% zou dalen en het aantal tijdelijke krachten zelfs met 8,4%. De grote stijging in winstverwachting en het feit dat de werkgelegenheidsverwachting naar boven is bijgesteld zijn positieve signalen voor de ontwikkeling van de economie. - 28,7% van de bedrijven geeft aan plannen te hebben om komend jaar een ander bedrijf in zijn geheel of gedeeltelijk te willen overnemen. 12,6% van de bedrijven is van plan zijn bedrijf (gedeeltelijk) te verkopen. - 43% van de bedrijven heeft in de eerste helft van 2010 minder voorraad dan in de eerste helft van 2009, 17% heeft meer voorraad. De belangrijkste redenen om minder voorraad aan te houden zijn: de voorraad is te groot voor de verwachte vraag en moet verkleind worden, voorraadkosten zijn te hoog en er is minder voorraad nodig door verbeteringen in de toeleveringsketen. Indien het voorraadniveau in 2010 hoger is zijn daarvoor de volgende redenen: de voorraad is te klein voor verwachte vraag en moet daarom vergroot worden, de voorraad loopt op door achterblijvende vraag naar sommige producten en bedrijf voert nieuwe producten en heeft dus meer voorraden. - 12,5% van de bedrijven is de afgelopen twee jaar van (externe) accountant veranderd, 87,5% niet. De belangrijkste redenen om van accountant te wisselen waren: onze externe accountant was te duur, de kwaliteit van de controle was onder de maat, de externe accountant verleende niet het gevraagde advies, en het bedrijf wilde een nieuwe accountant met een frisse blik. De belangrijkste redenen om niet van accountant te wisselen zijn: de kwaliteit van de controle is goed (genoeg) en onze accountant kent ons bedrijf door en door. 10% van de CFOs geeft echter aan niet te wisselen van accountant omdat deze niet kritisch is en gemakkelijk te overtuigen is. - 27,5% van de bedrijven geeft aan dat de werkgelegenheid binnen het bedrijf momenteel op of boven het niveau zit van voor de crisis. Voor de overige bedrijven zit deze hieronder. 17% van de CFOs verwacht dat de werkgelegenheid niet meer terugkomt op het niveau van voor de crisis. Van de overige CFOs verwacht het gros

2 dat het niveau weer terug komt op het niveau van voor de crisis in 2 tot 3 jaar. Van de bedrijven die aangeven dat de werkgelegenheid niet meer terugkomt op het niveau van voor de crisis zijn de belangrijkste redenen hiervoor: we willen de productiviteit zo verhogen dat we met minder mensen toekunnen, we hebben ons productieproces efficiënter ingericht, we voorzien dat de vraag naar ons product niet groot genoeg zal zijn om weer naar de oude personeelsomvang terug te keren. - 28,3% van de bedrijven heeft serieuze plannen om in de komende twee jaar activiteiten op te zetten in één of meer opkomende landen (buiten uw eigen land)? De meest genoemde locaties zijn: Oost-Europa, India, China, en het Midden-Oosten. - 65,8% van de bedrijven geeft aan dat het (veel) moeilijker is om krediet te verkrijgen, vergeleken met zomer 2008 (voor de crisis). 24,5% van de bedrijven geeft aan de afgelopen anderhalf jaar aantrekkelijke investeringsprojecten te hebben moeten laten lopen omdat ze onvoldoende krediet konden krijgen, omdat krediet te duur was of omdat de kredietvoorwaarden te streng waren. 31,9% van de bedrijven geeft aan geen aantrekkelijke investeringen te zijn misgelopen, omdat ze deze intern konden financieren en 28,8% van de bedrijven geeft aan geen aantrekkelijke investeringen te zijn misgelopen, omdat ze voldoende krediet konden krijgen. - 78,3% van de bedrijven verwacht uw bedrijf een positief bedrijfsresultaat (EBIT) voor het boekjaar 2009, 21,7% een negatief bedrijfsresultaat.
