2 About me Dear reader, My name is Jesse van der Scheer and this is my portfolio. It shows some examples of the work i did as an industrial design engineer. But first i will give you some more information about me. Innovation, styling, sustainable and good design in general are ways to reach this goal. 3 Product design: Multimedia furniture Client: University of Twente, IKEA Discription: This piece of multimedia furniture is designed according to the IKEA product concept. It is cheap, efficient to transport and easy to assemble. The Fogar can store different multimedia products from magazines to dvd-players. The user can adjust the basic frame to the size of his/her flatscreen, which makes it blend in with the design. The basic model can also be extended with a desk, extra storage space or CD-rack. Everyone is able to personalize their own piece of furniture, which makes this modular system suitable for a wide range of users.

4 Product design: Robot Cleaner Client: University of Twente Discription: The Breeze is an automated vacuum cleaner designed for Philips. Follwing an algorithm, the robot can manouver itself through an entire room while avoiding objects. A flexible head allows the robot to reach cornors and tight spots which makes it more efficient. The design includes sensors, electronics, automotion, power supply, remote control and user interaction. The latter has been evaluated in an user experience test.

5 Product design: Robotic Arm Client: University of Twente Discription: Refering to the desire of many engineers to create humanoid robots, this robotic arm is designed to mimic a human arm. It imitates size, strength and speed and is able to give the same freedom of movement as the human elbow joint. The design makes it possible to give the robotic arm the same shape as a human arm.

6 Product design: Introduction of the DGT Cube Client: DGT Projects Discription: This project focusses on the market introduction of the DGT Cube, a digital timer for multiplayer boardgames. For this a marketing concept was developed as wel as product packaging, an user manual and promotion material fitting the marketing strategy. With this the product was presented at the International toyfair in Neurenberg, Germany. Also I investigated the role that this product (or timing systems in general) can have in gameplay and contributed to improving the design and interface of the DGT Cube itself. 8 Graphical design: Posters & Magazine 7TH FABLETON AIRSHOW SILVER FENCE BRIDGE 10.00AM-17.00PM Simple Construction in Graphic Design Omdat wit niet eens zo gek is + D\in deze lap tekst staat verder niets nuttigs maar er is wel degelijk een flinke hoeveelheid onzin nodig om een pagina van een denkbeeldig tijdschrift te vullen. Het onderwerp van dit artikel spreekt voor zich, zo simpel als een en een is twee. Toch komt er meer kijken bij het opmaken van een moooie pagina dan alleen een rekensom van de basisschool. Een pagina passen bij de voorkant waarbij gespeeld wordt met legen ruimtes, tegenbeelden, compositie, kleur, lettertype en lettergroote en meer grafische aspecten als het overlappen van tekst en beeld, diepte creeeren, duidelijkheid scheppen. Een kleine aanpassing in witruiteen spatiering zort er voor dat een tekst heel anders gelezen wordt. Simple Construction in Graphic Design is het doel. geen ingewikkelde figuren, gerenderde opmaak en drukke foto s. Met weinig invulling toch een aantrekkelijke pagina creeren is kunst, vanzelfspreken met liefde gemaakt want typen duurt me te lang.
