3 Voorwoord BI & IM Symposium Het Business Intelligence & Informatie Management Symposium is inmiddels uitgegroeid tot het grootste BI event van de BeNeLux. Deze 14e editie staat in het teken van: BI means Business! U krijgt op deze dagen antwoord op de vragen: - Hoe krijg ik inzicht in nieuwe business kansen? - Hoe kan ik data inzetten om waarde te creëren? - Hoe organiseer ik op een slimme manier het gebruik van data? - Met welke tools kan ik snel inzichten uit data ontsluiten? Naast een keur aan nationale en international sprekers bevat het programma veel praktijkverhalen waarin u leert hoe organisaties met behulp van data en informatie hun business ondersteunen. Wij denken op deze manier een inspirerend en interessant programma voor u te hebben samengesteld. 4 Dagvoorzitter Michiel Boreel Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Sogeti Group Michiel Boreel is de oprichter van het Verkenningsinstituut Nieuwe Technologie (VINT) en CTO van Sogeti Group. Als CTO is Michiel verantwoordelijk voor de internationale strategie van Sogeti. De verkennende onderzoeken van Michiel hebben geleid tot meerdere publicaties van zijn hand. Centraal in al deze onderzoeken staat de vraag welke rol en toepassing voor nieuwe technologie is weggelegd in de maatschappij van morgen. Aanvullend werkt hij samen met vele klanten tijdens in-house innovation workshops waar de strategische dialoog en vernieuwende technologieën worden vertaald naar specifieke business innovatie kansen. Sinds 2007 is Michiel Boreel als Group Chief Technology Officer deel van de Management Board van de Sogeti Group op internationaal niveau.

In this keynote presentation, Tim Jennings will discuss how business intelligence has become a critical capability for every organization, explain the steps required to build an effective information management platform, and analyze the expertise required to generate compelling business insight. Tim explains the importance of treating data as an asset, the best and worst practices of BI and analytics strategies, and why BI means business in today s competitive market. That foresight couldn t be truer right now, as the Internet of Everything is here. It has the ability to connect anything to everything else. Not just devices, but people, process, things, enterprises, even industries. Your house and smart possessions will be collectively more intelligent than you by 2020, and the experience will become hyper-personalized. Industrials are going beyond machine-to-machine communication and are pursuing brilliant factories. And it s all driven and connected by data.

11 Data and how we act on that data are key to unlocking benefits for both businesses and individuals. Analysts claim that we only analyze 0.5% of the data being generated globally right now. In the past, we have been very good in promoting strategies to store vast amounts of static data, but nothing that turns that information into valuable insight that in turn becomes real-time and intelligent decision making. Analyzing and acting on streaming data or data in motion as it s produced from people, applications and machines is becoming ever increasingly important. The value produced from instant action can be immeasurably higher than conventional, backwards looking approaches. But how do we get there? What are we going to do with all this potential? Which industries will lead if any? This talk will look at the use of so-called fast data in a variety of industries and describe approaches to obtaining value from it. Maandag 24 november uur Paul Rodwick VP Product Management Oracle Business Intelligence Business Analytics, Big Data, and the Cloud The Datification of everything means that production of data is outstripping organizations abilities to derive value from it. Concurrently, there is a brisk rush to the Cloud, driven by line-of-business users and SaaS applications, but also by IT due to compelling economics. How will the worlds of Business Analytics, Big Data, and the Cloud converge? This session will explore what kinds of analytics are happening in the Cloud today, what else will be done there shortly, and architectural considerations to make it happen.

Vele bedrijven zijn zich bewust van het nut om aanwezig te zijn op sociale media. Slechts enkele bedrijven slagen erin het volledige potentieel van Facebook actief te benutten. Ondanks het feit dat Facebookgegevens een snel, kosteneffectief en rijk instrument vormt, rijst de vraag hoe deze kunnen worden ingezet om toegevoegde waarde te creëren. Hierbij kan gedacht worden aan toepassingen in marktsegmentatie, klantenwerving en retentie, en optimalisatie van online communicatiestrategieën. De grote vraag blijft hierbij welke factoren organisaties zelf kunnen sturen en hoe ze de impact van hun acties kunnen meten. Maandag 24 november uur Jordi Frijters Senior BI consultant Specialiteit: Pyramid Analytics StiBat Niet meer afhankelijk van IT met Self service Business Intelligence Van een Excel gedreven sturing naar volledig self service BI voor de gehele organisatie. StiBat is een relatieve kleine organisatie met grote ambities en heeft een innovatieve kijk op de toekomst. Deze case wordt gekenmerkt door snelheid en eenvoud. In een korte doorlooptijd zijn grote stappen gezet in het business intelligence volwassenheidniveau. Zelf eenvoudig data verwerken tot waardevolle inzichten. De business is niet meer van de IT afdeling afhankelijk voor rapportages. Jordi Frijters neemt u mee door het gehele traject van business doelstelling tot implementatie wat bij StiBat is doorlopen.

13 Maandag 24 november Belastingdienst Paul van Egmond Manager anti fraude Martijn Scheele Manager Business Intelligence Competence Center Risico geclassificeerd werken naar een data gedreven organisatie voor meer business value Burgers de aandacht geven die ze verdienen: dat is het idee achter het Greenlaneproefproject dat sinds eind vorig jaar loopt bij de Belastingdienst. Deloitte ontwikkelde hiertoe een risicoclassificatiemodel dat razendsnel een toeslagaanvraag of belastingaangifte een eerste oordeel kan geven. SAS en Sogeti inspireerden de Belastingdienst tijdens events. SAS en Teradata leverden de software & hardware. De Belastingdienst is Nederlands grootste administratieve organisatie en is één van de grootste databezitters van Nederland. De Belastingdienst loopt voorop als het gaat over op een slimme manier gebruik maken van data. Laat u meenemen in hoe het traject verliep en wat de business effecten zijn. Ervaar hoe het de Belastingdienst besturing beïnvloedde om tot een meer data driven organisatie te komen.

14 Dinsdag 25 november uur Menno van Doorn Director VINT Improving your sense for money There are far more clever ways in finding money then staring at some spreadsheets. Like using all the senses of the senseable world we live in. This idea might be awkward from a traditional BI perspective. But money itself is getting senses, like everything else, from buildings and machines our cars and entire cities. This digital skin that is being built upon the physical world is changing the way we do commerce, make decisions, monitor and control the world. When money and cities start talking back to you, it s time to reconsider how you can earn money from that intelligently. Real-time actionable BI should be in the front seat of all these new possibilities. Dinsdag 25 november uur Michel van Mourik Financial Director Verder Group This Case Study is powered by BOARD How to convince the (local) business to implement a central BI-system? With more than 50 independent legal entities and two divisions, Verder International has to consolidate a large amount of financial information from extremely varied systems every month. With BOARD a management information system was delivered, where each entity can continue using its own ERP and local systems, while consolidating and sharing its information through the head office. The quality of the management information and key performance indicators (KPIs) was lacking. BOARD prevents that by amassing the financial data in a controlled and secure environment while maintaining a link to the

15 source data. At Verder it is now possible for all to work with the same version of the truth. Now, authorization is managed on a group level. Plus, the programming-free toolkit enables controllers to build advanced financial reports and multidimensional graphic models. All in all, monthly reports are available much faster than before and are always current, complete and reliable. The quality of data has been improved, as BOARD automatically flags errors in the reports. Michiel will explain how he manages financial information with many different local ERP systems and how Verder did prioritize the projects: valuable projects for structural improvement or replacement of current method of working. Computersystemen die zijn gebaseerd op functies van het menselijke brein. Computersystemen die natuurlijke taal begrijpen en zelflerend zijn. Dit alles mogelijk gemaakt door een combinatie van nano-technologie, neuro-wetenschap en supercomputing. Hoe ziet de wereld er uit als mens en machine anders met elkaar gaan samenwerken? Welke impact heeft dit op de maatschappij en op ons als individu? En wat dichterbij bij het thema van vandaag: wat is de invloed op BI? We nemen u mee op een korte ontdekkingsreis om enig inzicht en context te geven over wat ons te wachten staat.

Big data en analytics drijft ons steeds meer naar een informatie economie. Wikipedia definieert informatie economie als an economy with an increased emphasis on informational activities and information industry. Een dergelijke economie gaat gepaard met een battle for data, waarbij het succes van een organisatie een directe relatie heeft met hoe zij met data omgaan. Blijven ze een data-consument? Worden ze een data-producer, of misschien een dataprovider? Ongeacht de rol, om deze strijd succesvol te voeren, dienen organisaties de correcte gegevens te bezitten, de geschikte informatie technologie in te zetten, de correcte architectuur te ontwerpen en capabele mensen aan de top te hebben. De grote vraag is of organisaties hier wel aan voldoen of kunnen gaan voldoen? Dinsdag 25 november 15: uur Jeroen ter Heerdt Technology Advisor Business Intelligence Microsoft Zet uw data aan het werk De mogelijkheden om data te verzamelen en op te slaan zijn bijna onbeperkt. Met alle ontwikkelingen moeten we één ding niet uit het oog verliezen: echt inzicht ontstaat bij mensen, niet in tools of systemen. Daarom is het belangrijk om binnen organisaties een cultuur te creëren waar informatie toegankelijk is. Waar gebruikers in staat zijn om hun creativiteit toe te passen om tot nieuwe inzichten te komen. En waar niet alleen de vraag wat zegt de data centraal staat, maar ook wat kan ik hiermee en hoe vertel ik het mijn collega s. Platforms voor business analytics, of het nu gaat om big data, machine learning of reporting & dashboarding, moeten een dergelijke cultuur mogelijk maken, de gebruiker productiviteit bieden en plezier geven.
