V Is het de bedoeling om een theater voor binnen of voor buiten te ontwerpen? A Je kan een theater voor binnen of voor buiten ontwerpen. Dus ontwerp bijvoorbeeld een gebouw of een open-lucht-structuur - op straat, op een plein, op een grasveld enz. of binnen een bestaand gebouw. V Moet het een gesloten structuur, een gebouw of juist een open lucht podium zijn? Welke vormen van theater gaan er gespeeld worden? A Zowel open als gesloten structuren zijn een mogelijke oplossing. Sommige theatervormen hebben specifieke eisen aan een podium. Dus als je een enkele theatervorm wilt oppikken waarvoor je een podium gaat maken, is dat prima. Als je een multifunctioneel podium ontwerpt is dat ook prima. V Moet het een demontabele structuur zijn die uit elkaar kan worden genomen? A Ja. Demontabiliteit is om logistieke redenen en om redenen van duurzaamheid een eis. V Waarom is de website opgegeven? A De website is genoemd om ontwerpers die niet bekend met de stad s- Hertogenbosch zijn, een mogelijkheid te bieden om zich in de ontwikkelingen van de stad te verdiepen. Op de website resetthecity.nl staat informatie over gebieden in s-hertogenbosch die zich in transformatie bevinden. Deze plekken kunnen (maar hoeven ook helemaal niet) interessant zijn, om daar een podium neer te zetten. De gebieden 1, 2, 7 en 10 t/m 15 bevinden zich in of nabij de binnenstad. V Welke locaties zijn mogelijk? A We wijzen geen specifieke locaties aan. Het vinden van een uitdagende plek is onderdeel van de ontwerpopgave. De locatie moet in of nabij de binnenstad liggen. V Er staat in de beschrijving dat de ontwerper 'rekening houden' moet met o.a. horeca'. Begrijp ik correct dat het bouwwerk ook deze functie moet hebben? Zijn er (strenge) eisen aan een loket of balie? PVE, punt 5 Houd rekening met: horeca, sanitaire voorzieningen, artiestenkleedkamers, expeditie. Is het de opdracht om de ruimtes van deze voorzieningen te ontwerpen, of is het alleen van belang met betrekking tot logistiek? A Een horeca-functie is geen verplichte eis. Maar als een voorstelling bedoeld is voor 500 personen zijn er wel logistieke voorzieningen nodig zoals in de PVE genoemd. Of en hoeveel steunende functies het podium moet hebben, is in grote mate afhankelijk van het ontwerp. V Zijn de hoogtematen van de bebouwing in de binnenstad bekend? Zo ja, is het mogelijk deze cijfers te ontvangen of aan te vragen?

A Alle vragen die werden gesteld en de antwoorden die gegeven zijn, worden bij dezen bekend gemaakt. Er is geen officiële blog. Wel kun je voor alle nieuws met betrekking tot deze prijsvraag terecht op V Ik ben van plan dit jaar weer mee te doen met jullie ontwerpwedstrijd. Het idee dat ik heb, is niet zo eenvoudig in een maquette weer te geven. Op een poster kan het net zo goed. Is een maquette verplicht? Sta ik zonder maquette op een achterstand bij echte architecten, die beter in de gelegenheid zijn maquettes te bouwen? A Een maquette is verplicht. Ook een maquette bijvoorbeeld van klei kan indruk maken. Kies het materiaal wat het idee het beste representeert. Tegenwoordig zijn de architecten trouwens helemaal niet meer gewend, een maquette te bouwen, dus je hebt geen achterstand. In iedere geval staat het iedereen vrij, hoe de maquette er uit moet zien! Op basis van de maquette en de ingezonden stukken wordt het idee/concept/ ontwerp beoordeeld door de jury. Dit op basis van de prijsvraagcriteria. V Is het mogelijk om maquettes en A3-vellen in te zenden? Is het verplicht om A3- vellen, een maquette en een CD in te zenden? Kunnen we het materiaal niet digitaal inzenden? A Het is niet noodzakelijk om een CD te versturen. Tekst, naam en adres gegevens kunnen via mail ingezonden worden. Je moet wel ervoor zorgen dat de inzending van jouw gegevens gescheiden is van de inzending van je ontwerpmateriaal om de anonimiteit te waarborgen. De A3 s kunnen met de normale post worden verstuurd. Echter is het wel verplicht om een maquette in te zenden. Er zijn geen regels hoe de maquette eruit moet zien. Je hebt alle vrijheid om een materiaal te kiezen, dat het beste bij je ontwerp/idee past. De maquette mag ook kleiner zijn dan de opgegeven afmetingen van 60 cm x 60 cm x 100 cm. De jury gaat de inzendingen beoordelen op basis van de maquettes en A3 s. Als je de inzending per post verzendt, moeten de bescheiden uiterlijk op 6 juni 2013 op dit adres binnen zijn: RESET Tav Theo Mathijssen Poeldonkweg JX s-hertogenbosch Nederland V Betekent 60x60x100 cm dat de afmetingen van de maquette 60 cm breed, 60 cm lang en 100 cm hoog kunnen zijn. A Ja, dat zijn de maximale afmetingen van de maquette die toegestaan zijn. De maquette mag ook kleiner zijn. V Ik heb problemen met het downloaden van de bestanden. Kan ik dat via mail ontvangen? Bovendien wilde ik vragen of je je moet aanmelden voor de prijsvraag en zo ja waar en wanneer.

4 questions / answers Q Is it possible to design a stage in/on the water? A Yes, it is imaginable to have a stage in or on the water. Q Is the theatre to be seen as an indoor or outdoor theatre? A The theatre can be as well an indoor as an outdoor theatre. You can design a building or an open-air structure; that is placed on the street, in a square, on a lawn or inside an existing building. Q Has it to be a closed structure, a building or a stage in the open air? What kind of performances are to be shown in the theatre? A Open as well as closed structures are possible solutions. As we all know, for specific performances, specific stages might be desirable. Both sorts of stages can be designed for a specific sort of performances or also a multipurpose theatre. Q Does it have to be a demountable structure that can be taken apart? A Yes. The structure should be demountable for logistical and sustainable reasons. Q Which kind of information can one find on the website A The website might give an overview of the city of Den Bosch for people who aren t yet familiar with the city. This website gives information over areas in Den Bosch that are currently being developed/transformed under the guidance of the local authorities. It might be useful (or not) to use these as background for your stage design. The areas numbered 1, 2, 7 and are located in or close to the historical inner city, which is the preferred location of the local authorities. Q On which locations can the stage/theatre be placed? V There are no locations determined. To find a challenging location is part of the design task. However, the location has to be in or near the historical city centre. Q In the description the function of gastronomy/catering is mentioned. Does this function need to be included in the design and/or is a bar a mandatory part of the design? Should, furthermore functions such as: catering, sanitation, artists dressing rooms, and so on be considered in the design? A Gastronomy does not have to be part of the stage/theatre. A maximum audience of 500 does require facilities as mentioned in the competition rules (catering, sanitation, artists dressing rooms, and so on). However, if these facilities are included into the design is depending on the decision of the individual designer/architect. Q Are the heights of the in the inner city known and available? 5 Q I am considering participating in your competition this year and I already have an idea. However it is quite complex to build a model for this idea. It is however possible to understand the idea based on an A3 drawing. Is a model mandatory? Do I have a disadvantage compared to architects who are providing models as part of the proposal? A A model is mandatory. A model can be made of e.g. clay as well. Choose your material to represent your idea best. Today many architects aren t used to build models any more so you won t have a disadvantage. The way of building the model is completely free. The jury will judge the proposals by the model and the A3 panels based on the criteria of the competition. Q Is it possible to send the model and the competition A3 boards? Is it mandatory to submit rigid panels, physical models and CD to participate in the contest? Can I just submit virtual elements? A It is not necessary to send a CD. You can send digital material attached to an e- mail. The same applies for the address and the named envelope. You have to guarantee that the submitted material is anonymous. A3 boards don't have to be necessary rigid, so you can send them via normal mail. The model is mandatory as is mentioned in the competition rules. You are free to make the model as you choose; there aren t any restrictions on that. The jury will evaluated the ideas/concepts/designs basing its decision on the model and the A3 panels Please note that: You can also send a little model (60x60x100 are de max. dimensions).
